Pedal drive kayaks
Pedal drives really work well in most of the bodies of water and the Hobie drive fins when pushed up against the hull are basically weedless.. I bought an outback a couple years ago mainly for getting through boat traffic on lakes I frequent but once you get used to it. You really won’t go back. Just being able to slowly pedal around and cast is amazingly efficient and I get into any ware that a regular kayak can go because I carry a paddle as well. Now the new drives are all prop based and they are not as weedles or as shallow as the hobie but they do have reverse which works really well. I was able to fish out of the Predator PDL last weekend with a friend and I have to say that kayak is everything I wish Hobie would do with a kayak. Basically an outback XL. It is faster more stable and the drive kicks up if you hit something as well.

Your dumbest mistakes on the water. I made mine today.
To me any mistake that does not involve me getting a hook taken out if my skin is a minor mistake.. I am not a fan of spiderwire but i have a buddy that loves it. I prefer something a little rounder but that is a personal preference.

NFC 50% Off
Excellent! I was starting to wonder how long they would take to ship. I guess Ishould expect to see mine in the next week or so. I wonder how their IM and SM blanks compare to the st croix sc3 and sc4 blanks I have.

The Perfect Texas Rig rod
for me I use a St croix Legend tournement TBC71MF It alows me to cast the lighter weights very well and loads up nicely. It is a lot lighter than my jig rods but I am casting a lighter weight.

punch/swimbait rod
I use a Phenix m1 72 heavy that I really like. It is a little lighter than I expected but I seem to do a good job pinning bass with frogs. It is actually a lighter action than my MH st croix. I use it for almost everything now.

Risk of ordering rods online
Other than the packing I guess I can’t see an issue with how they handled the situation. They shipped you out a new rod to swap out the old one with. Even when you did not want that they issued you a 15$ credit for the hassle. I have not found any company that will give me a percentage back because of shipping issues. They will just correct the issue or issue you a refund if you return the item. Most of my orders have come in PVC with some a hard cardboard tube.

NFC 50% Off
I don’t see this as an issue for the dealers either. This is a one-time deal to draw more builders or others into looking at their blanks. I can say I would never have tried one of their blanks out without this deal. I ordered 3 myself this week to try in the IM and SM range. My blanks so far have come from Rain shadow, St Croix and Rod Geeks. Northfork was not even on my list of blanks to try next.

Mustad Fastach Clips

Spinnerbait/Swim Jig/Buzzbait Setup
I normally use a 7mh/f rod for the spinnerbait and swim jig. It depends on the reel but normaly I fish them with braid. I don't fish a buzz bait much but when i do it is on my squarebill rod with floro.

Light lure baitcaster ?
I am looking for a new reel. Either for unweighted plastics or for smaller crankbaits. I currently run a curado50e for a light crankbaits and will also swap the reel for unweighted senkos as well on a different blank and wanted to pick up a new reel. Any ideas on what I should pick up for a second reel for this?

Rod Handle Question, your preference please.
For me it is a combination. No one thing really makes or breaks a rod for me. I like some reel seats more than others. For spinning I look for an aero seat, Winn grips and microwave guides. Because I use braid a lot I like guides with inserts to keep it quiet. I also do not want the rod to be too tip heavy. That is about it for aesthetics. The rest is the weight ratings and characteristics of

What is this style of jighead called?
VMC makes a jighead like the top one called a rugby head. I use it for small worms and other smaller baits. they sell them with a thin but larger hook than any of my slider jigs have

Kayak in the wind
Depending on the wind you really dont have a lot of options. Drift Socks work great to slow you. IN up to about 25 ft I use an anchor wizard with a good claw anchor. Anyhting deeper than that and you are really on your own. As a Hobie guy A lot of the time I just keep my self pointed into the wind and peddal this keeps me in position well enougn that I dont really need an anchor much.

Airpro max seat
Yes you can switch from High to low and back again while on the water. the seat kind of rocks forward and back to raise you. I know some guys have had issues with the seat falling out of the track on the older WS Ride kayaks. It dont believe they have a complete fit for this yet but they are working on it. If you are buying an ATAK they are built differently and the seat can not fall out.

Damiki airfrog rigging
Yes they are heavy and the nose does not really go over anything. When you crank it the nose digs into what ever is in front of it. Not a fan so far. I was using size 5 EWG or swimbait hooks for them

Best line for a novice Bait-caster user.
I recommend braid for learning, when you backlash mono or floro you end up cutting it out. Braid you can work the knot out almost every time. I would recommend 50-65 pound braid for learning. It will not dig much and will knot less.

Dobyns Savy vs Phenix M1
I have a M1 that I use as a jig rod and I can say I am really impressed for the price. When I compare it to the St Croix Rage, Avid, fenwick ateos I believe the M1 is a better rod. I have not tried a Savvy only the Fury so I can’t give you a real comparison other than the M1 is night and days better than the fury.

Advise on a new st croix rod
Thanks guys I am going to select the m/f I was able to get my hands on the MH/f at Field and stream and It actually feels almost as heavy as my Phoenix M1 7'2" Heavy rod that i use for frogs and heavier jigs.
