  1. Got the same model in one of those monthly tackle boxes and it did the same thing as I was running it over a sand flat. Just toss it and get another one. The added weight from the glue may cause it to run differently
  2. I have the best luck with braid. It is one of the reason I use it for so much. If you do Bird'snest it it is easy to pull out. and I don't seem to get as many overruns as I do with mono
  3. I seem to retie before it really starts to fray so it is not really an issue
  4. That was my first thought. I think gobies have spread enough with out needing more help.
  5. I think they are great rods. the only issues I have are the butts are to long on them for my liking and I have a hell of a time threading their micro guides.
  6. I find that the fish grips or a rubber net seem to be the easiest way to bring them into the boat. the kayak bounces quiet a bit and I try not to leave over to far to pull them in.
  7. Bought one last year and I broke one last year. I just picked up one of the cabela's tournament zx rods as a replacement this spring that i am looking forward to trying out.
  8. Anyone know if this is online only or in their stores as well? Plan to head over to cabellas on Saturday Would rather pick one up in person.
  9. Yes I use Fish grips when handing fish with treble hooks. Pulling a hook out of your hand is not fun.
  10. Retail pay is very little now a days and you get what you pay for. I don’t expect experts when I walk into any retail store anymore, The wages don’t justify the skill most of the time. But I am surprised on the quality of BPS retail people. I have had a number of conversations with some of the guys in the Auburn hills Michigan store and they may not be an expert at everything in the store but the ones in the fishing sections have given me tips on some locations and techniques that they use that work for them. Now they don’t know every new technique or fad but It goes back into they are not paid for that. They are enthusiasts You can’t really get that at an online store.
  11. All Pro Rods are also built in the USA. I have one and I think it is a good rod for the price. http://allprorods.com/
  12. I use an Auto inflatable pfd. I an not swimming and have not had it go off accidentally from rain or splashing.
  13. I normally carry 3-4 1-2 spinning rods one a 7ft ML/f for light line work. The second is a long M for light cranks and such. this is only used once in a while. 1 7ft bait casting MH/F rod for most everything 1 7ft baitcasting H/F for frogs, Jika, and Carolina rigs, I actually have not found much need for a M action rod. The kayak gives a little when you set the hook so I don’t seem to be losing anything on treble hooks. The only issue I have is that you need to be careful getting the fish to the yak. You are almost high-sticking when you are trying to pull them in at times and have managed to snap my ML rod once this last year when a bass decided to dive hard when I was trying to grab him.
  14. around 13-15 inches seems to be my avg for large mouth Small mouth a little bigger.
  15. I catch Pike about 40% of the time when fishing for bass. I cant complain. they are fun fish to catch as well.
  16. now 300 for a drysuit for my xxxl ass would be fine by me. All the suite i see are 600+ and not really many for a big guy.
  17. I have been thinking about this a lot as it gets colder. The problem is the cost of suits is crazy. dry suits for a big guy cost as much as my kayak. I have also looked at wet suites like the grizzly farmer john and think that may be an option for some.
  18. My buddy and I paid a local bass pro to take us out last year and he fished the whole time. I actually would rather than be the case. Someone can explain how to catch fish all they want. But watching and asking questions while he was pulling in fish was worth the price to be. We still walked away with about 20 catches each for 3 hours or so.
  19. I just bought a quantum smoke 15 from dicks sporting goods last week for 100 that i really like. It is the first quantum i have had in years but if it holds up it may be my new favorite for this price range.
  20. The 10ft Nucanoe. It is just to wide and spins to much for me. I thought the 12ft one is far better as a kayak.
  21. I find I paddle about the same way every time no matter what paddle i have in my hands. I don't really see anyone switching their paddling style up once they get used to it. somewhere in between a low and high paddle. I have 4 different paddles, once i found one i liked i use that brand/style for any kayak i sit in. only difference is length.
  22. My buddy has one of the 10ft nuconoe kayaks. if you are planning on paddling it I would pass. He only uses it with an electric motor because it paddles so poorly. . I run a predator 13 and honestly I find his kayak kind of useless when we go out. The seat does not lock so it spins or moves a little side to side as he paddles. It looks nice but The kayak spins and turns on a dime. But for the life of me I cant get the thing to go in a straight line.
  23. Love fishing out of a kayak. I felt very unstable in the cuda on the high seat and could really see flipping one. If you are having trouble climbing back into the kayak a kayak float may work. I have a little different way that i do it as i am not worried about getting water in a SOT kayak. the way I do it is grab a tie down strap and hook it onto the side grab handle. Tighten it up enough so that you can bend your knee and step on it. use it as a mini ladder to push yourself onto the yak.
  24. Are you looking at comfort and the ability to stand as a priority or speed of paddling? the new big game is a lot like my predator kayak. comfortable. I am not going to be as fast as others but i will be paddling and fishing in comfort. I still paddle a few miles on it but i don't think i would be trying to paddle across the great lakes on it, Almost all kayaks are getting heaver and heaver you need to decided if that is going to be as factor with transporting it.
  25. Where are you looking to paddle at? I have a few sot kayaks and have looked at the hybrids. the only thing you need to remember is you can get swamped in a hybrid. I keep looking at one my self just for something different. But i would not use it on places not close to shore that you can drag it to if you need to. I just picked up a Predator 13 that is great as a big mans kayaks. fast and stable. But man it is heavy,
