Kayak Fishing Rod Selection
I find longer rods work better for me on a kayak But I do agree the longer buts causes some issues. With shorter rods I find I get hung up more and does not allow me to move fish around the boat as easily. I have lost a couple good fish because they made runs under the boat and I was not able to get the tip around in front of the kayak. I also sometimes get the line caught on the rudder and with a longer rod it is easier to untangle. With skipping under docks I don’t really fins the rod length to matter you already are right at the water level and have to throw sidearm It just means you have to position the kayak a little differently.

1/4Oz Light Wire Arky Jig Heads
I have picked these up on amazon in the past as an addon to some other things i was buying. the price was similar and the shopping was free.

Kayak Fishing Rod Selection
I use the same stuff as I would use anywhere else. my first questions is where are you going to fish? I do not fish creaks or places that are tight to get into so i actually go long with my rods to give me a little more distance and to let me set the hook a little better. I would look at a 7'3"+ MH rod with a m-fast tip for everything rod. For the second rod it depends on what you really like to do. if you like crank baits, pick up a long cranking rod. if you like wacky rigs, ned rigs, or slider heads, get a long ML spinning rod. frogs or getting into really heavy cover grab a heavy rod.

Kayak Net
I always use a net for anything with trebles as the fish more a little more then I like when i try to grab them. For everything else I will normally lip them or I just reel them into the foot area of the kayak and go from there. I keep a couple set of lip grabbers in the kayak but I really only use them to hold the fish for hook removal or to leave the fish in the water as I get the camera out.

Quantum Reels
I have the quantum smoke Bait caster as well as a couple of their smoke spinning reels. all of them are real nice and smooth. the bait-caster does not get the distance of some of my others But is still very nice. for the 150-200$ range I think they are about as nice as everything else. The spinning reels I really licked when i bought them, But i did have an issue crop up this fall where it seems like the reverse berring is slipping and the handle starts spinning backwards when i get a snags or a good size pike hits it.

Taking My Brother In Law Fishing For The First Time And I Really Want It To Be A Good Experience.
I agree. Pick up a spinning combo that can handle the lures you want him to through. I would look for a M or MH and have him start out with spinner baits and maybe wacky worms.

Spooltek Lures?
With pike the hookup ratio has been great for me. It has enough resistance that the hook does not pull away immediately. It is a bare hook without any kind of guard so it sets with little pressure.

Spooltek Lures?
I actually picked one of these up this spring and love it for pike. It is the 7 inch one i believe so it is bigger than what I normally use for bass. I bought it after losing a couple other larger swim-baits on one of the lakes I fish. I would think it would work similar to a line-through bait in the way it keeps the bait away from the hook. I am going to pick up some smaller ones if they are making then in 4s

Best Rod Sock Brand/length
I actually really like Cabela's Hook Guard Rod Covers. they are nylon I believe and have s good guard near the base that stopped my cranks from hooking onto the covers. I have picked up a couple and plan to buy more.

1000 Size Reels For Bass
I use a 15 side all the time for light plastics as well as a light crank bait rod. I pulled in a 36 in pike last week with out troubles. The drag is not as strong but the reel will hold up.

Duckett Ghost
I have that rod. it is not really a fast but not a medium either. I use it to throw mid size swim baits 2-4oz with out any issues. I have not tried an A-rig but i don't see it have any issues.

Do Bass Strike The Blades Of Spinnerbaits Commonly?
most of the strikes that feel like they are hitting the blades i assume are pike. I watch a lot of pike and musky strike at the blades rather than the skirt as I am retreving

Questions On My First Rod That I Am Going To Build.
that will actually work perfectly, I didn't know if those foregrips would fit. I am not sure on the butt cap yet but figured I would just pick up a flared EVA one. I have not found an intricate one that really jumps out at me.

Questions On My First Rod That I Am Going To Build.
Hey guys I just started picking up Items for my first rod build and was hoping I could get some advice on a couple things I stopped off at janns netcraft while I was in the area and picked up some of the things I needed for a crankbait spinning rod. I have bought a Rain shadow CB76M. as well as a set of microwave guides for this build I was not really happy with the selection of reel seats that they offered so I am still in need of that. I have been looking at the American tackle comfort seat as well as the Fuji seat, I figure I will do a full EVA handle but I would really like a EVA hood to cover the threads of the seat. Does anyone know if I can buy a hood for either of these seats?

Stren Original Vs. Spiderwire Braid
braid is the only thing i use on my spinning reels anymore. what size reel is it you are using? i use 10 and 20 on my size 15 reels. 20 will not cast as well with lighter lures

Favorite Lures Bass/pike
If i am targeting both bass and Pike I throw a spinner-bait about 80% of the time. look for something with silver or chrome, white and blue colors then throw them over the weed beds. second choice would be a jig or a chatterbait.

Gliss Monotex Line ~ A Brief Review
I have it on one of my baitcasters and it is working out really well so far. Basically it feels like a smooth smaller braid. I have not had any digging issues that i sometimes run into with braid and it seems to cast well and hold up well. If it holds up I think this will replace braid for me on most of my reels. the only issue I have run into is it slipping the knot on my leader

Has Anyone Tried The Gander Mountain Elite Series Bait Caster Rods For Frog Fishing?
I am looking for a dedicated frog rod and have a bunch of cards for Gander Mountain. The thing is that looking online I do not see much of a selection on their site. I am looking for a rod that does not have micro guides with a price around 100-250 range that I can order and pick up from them. I did see one of their Elite Series rods that is a 76 heavy I am just not sure if that would make the best frog rod.

Cool Soft Plastics
I picked up some of their swim baits and frogs. the swimbaits nice the only issue I have is Pike biting their tails off. I was not a huge fan of their frogs. But i may just need to give them more time. Seem like a quality product.

Duckett Issues
They are as good as any other rods in their price range. I think micro guides are more prone to issues because of their size but that makes sense. I have one that I picked up that I am really starting to like, it loads well is light and comfortable to hold and seems sensitive. I also like that they have more of a bend than a lot of other rods. they just don't seem to be as stiff to me. If it breaks I will buy something else to try. I don't feel the need to be too invested in any company and their products that I don't own stock in. I have broken 3 rods in the last couple years and the duckett was not one of them
