Thank you for all your input guys. I ended up going with a custom cover from boat covers . com. I got the Prism material which seems to be well rated (their second highest). We shall see when it comes in! I'm nervous on how well it's going to fit. For almost $400, I expect it to fit near perfectly! I'll post some pics and feedback when it comes in. Thanks again!

Where is the best place to buy a boat cover? I have a 2006 G3 Eagle 175 (17.5') and my cover needs to be replaced. I've been looking online at boat covers.com and i boats. com and they seem to have a good selection. Where do you guys get yours from and what material do you recommend? Should I go semi-custom or custom??

After some recommendations (from forum and the bps guy), I purchased a 6'6" MH BPS Johnny Morris CarbonLite rod for my BPS Pro Qualifier 6.4:1 baitcaster. I haven't set it up yet or even taken the tags off. I have been reading through the reviews for the CarbonLite rod and it seems like while it performs well for the money, every 5 or so reviews a customer is complaining that the rod snapped on them. Although BPS replaces this for them, I'm not sure this is something I feel like dealing with if it happens to me. The Berkley Shock gets overwhelmingly good reviews and is half the price. I'm in the market for another rod for a second pro qualifier reel used for frogging/jigs/pitching heavy cover, and I'm wondering if I should just take the carbonLite back now and buy two Berkley Lightning Shock rods. What are your thoughts on this?

I tried searching this and really only came up with what people normally use on than setups. My question is, does it really matter the size of the mono backing for your braid setup on a baitcaster? I purchased PowerPro 40lb braid and I got a spool of BPS excel mono 20lb to use for backing. Is the 20lb too much or does it not matter? Some say they try to match the diameter of the braid, but that seems like something only that matters for a leader. What are your thoughts here?

Now what about using this setup for a jig? Would you need a leader for less visibility? Then again, if you're fishing heavy cover, the 12lb mono might not suffice. Right? Again I'm new to this so just learning.

That being said. What's the point of using braid for strength if your 12lb mono lead is going to break anyways at it's breaking point? Why not just use all 12lb mono in this case??

I have kind of a follow-up question to this based on everyone's responses. I'm sort of new to this. If you're using 40-50lb braid with a 12lb mono leader, does that reduce the strength value when you have a fish on? If I'm using braid for strength in heavy cover, does the 12lb mono leader greatly reduce that overall line strength (and confidence of keeping that fish on) and make it counterproductive? Or do most line breaks happen further up towards the rod?

This will be my first year applying a multiple rod system to my fishing. I've bass fished my entire life (, but it's been with one spinning setup, 8lb mono, and a rubber worm. I have been learning so much the past few months from researching, and I'm finally branching out with different lures, rod/reel combos, etc. So I've finally picked out my three rod/reel combos and now I just need a little help choosing my line for each. I have very little idea on what I should use, so I'd like your opinions if you could! Where I am, there isn't TOO much heavy cover, although there is some. Most of what I fish is moderately heavy cover at the most. Here's what I have: 1) Quantum Accurist PT Baitcaster (6:1) //Shimano Convergence 6' M/F Rod: for crank baits and spinnerbaits. Line Choice? How about a 12lb Fluorocarbon? 2) BPS Pro Qualifier Baitcaster (6.4:1)//Johnny Morris CarbonLite 6'6" MH/F Rod: for my usual un-weighted heavy senkos. Line choice? Not sure… Best for this? 3) BPS Pro Qualifier Baitcaster (7:1)//No rod yet, but will be a 7' H/F Rod: for flipping, jigs in heavy cover, and frogging.. Line choice? I'm thinking some sort of braided line, but not sure if that will double as a good frogging line. Also, not sure where to go with line weight here. 4) Hoping to keep this in the rod compartment… my lightweight quantum spinning reel with 8lb test and a medium power/mod fast rod.. too lightweight I think and I will save it for trout fishing and crappie if I feel the need. Just an update to everyone who was helping me out with this. I decided this morning that I would hold off on buying another BPS Pro Qualifier and rod until the end of the season or next year......... until I got an Email from BPS saying that they have a new sale beginning today where the PQ is now on sale an additional $10!! So at $69, I couldn't pass it up!!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I definitely do not NEED another setup (it's a WANT for sure). In fact, I'm not sure I even want to spend the money on a 3rd. I'm thinking I should maybe get through this season on those other two rods and see how I like them. The BPS Pro Qualifier on the Carbonlite combo that I already have is brand new itself, I might find the 6'6" MH CL is too stiff for my yum dingers and IT maybe becomes my frog/jig rod. I may even find that I don't even like the BPS qualifier after fishing with it. I'm sure I'm being overly cautious here. I'm just being tempted by the sale on another BPS qualifier that I believe ends today.

Sweet deal! I was thinking about going to BPS this weekend to get the Curado G for $99, but I decided I should probably save up a bit more until the next sale. I think the Veritas is a perfect rod for this! Nice!!!! I didn't read this, but maybe I missed it… is this a medium heavy or heavy rod? I think the Veritas is pretty heavy even in the MH power.

I've decided to add a rod for pitching/flipping/frogging/heavier jigs. I only want to have about 3-4 rods in the boat, so I'm thinking a 7' MH to Heavy rod should cover this. What are your thoughts on below? I'm sort of on a budget, so I don't want to break the bank. I have two choices narrowed down: AbuGarcia Silver Max reel with BPS Graphite series rod combo ($89) http://www.basspro.com/Abu-Garcia-Silver-Max-Reel/Bass-Pro-Shops-Graphite-Series-Rod-Baitcast-Combos/product/1209280857575/ OR BPS Pro Qualifer Reel (7:1) with a SC Mojo Bass Rod (7' Heavy) or BPS Johnny Morris Carbonlite Rod (7' Heavy) (Reel on sale now for $79 and rod about $100) I realize there's a big difference in price and probably quality here. Basically what I'm asking is, do you think the rod combo is good enough quality to serve me well? The only thing is, in left retrieve, the combo does not come in 7' Heavy, only MH--not sure if that's enough for what I need it for) I'd hate to spend almost $200 on another setup. I fish about 4-5 times a month and no tournaments (for now). If you think I should go another route altogether, please let me know. Maybe the BPS Pro Qualifier with a different cheaper rod like Berkley Lightning Rod Shock???? Here are my current setups (can use some review here too): BPS Pro Qualifer 6.4:1 with BPS Carbonlite Rod (6'6" MH fast) - light jigs, senkos Quantum Accurist PT 6:1 with Shimano Convergence Rod (6' M Fast) - spinnerbaits, crank baits

I couldn't figure out why I felt so awkward when I switched from my left reel spinning setup to a bait cast setup. It's because it was right retrieve. everything I purchased after in bait cast was left retrieve. I couldn't understand why I would want to keep switching hands after casting also (because I cast with my right hand).

Thank you all for the great wisdom. I hope to apply it this upcoming season. As far as action goes, that spinning setup seems like it's a slow action, where it bends way down low.

I guess that leads me into my next thing. I've always used mono line, never have experienced fluoro or braided. Is mono an acceptable all around line or should I be using fluoro or braid for certain applications on my current setups?

ColdSVT, your exceptions would take which type if rod then? If my learning is correct, a medium, mf rod for cranking and then heavy fast for frogs?
