  1. Buy LC during a sale is my tip. Or some Smithwicks. Also... Lucky Craft makes a new 10 dollar jerkbait called the lightning pointer. That may be something you're interested in
  2. Not really an option due to the fact that I wouldn't have enough line to walk to the other side of the lake
  3. Not trying to hijack the thread, but what happens if you cast off a blade bait about 30 yards away, and get it hung in a rock? (bank fishing). I have lost a lot of baits this way recently...
  4. Nishiki or one of the Crack colors that LC makes.
  5. Me personally, whenever I want to slow retrieve a bait I just go to the classic hand-line. Just kidding. I throw 1/4 oz chatters and swimjigs on 12 lb fluorocarbon, 26 IPT reel
  6. I also might be the oddball but I will recommend braided line too. This is what I started out on, and it worked for me. Backlashes were very easy to pick out.
  7. There's nothing wrong with that. I've used thir teen fishing, Powell, and Gloomis. I'll leave the rod selection up to you, but I know for sure that someone is going to say a Dobyns 735... I honestly don't have much experience with that company though.
  8. Powell is a good company. You'll like the rods they have to offer.
  9. With a football jig, especially the heavy ones, there's a lot of lead in the head. When you try to set the hook as hard as you can, you may blow the fish's mouth open.

Get some Pointers and some Owner ST-36's. #5 for the 100sp and #6 for the 78sp
  11. Started strong the first two days +the Berkley sale, then it was just mehhhh
  12. Does your baitcast rod have a soft tip to it? I'd throw the jerkbaits on that then. I can throw Pointer 78's on my 6'8" MH EF loomis rod.
  13. look at the flick of da wrist... very informative video!!
  14. I think any reel will do just fine, it's pretty much all in the thumb. When I had my Curado I, skipping was not an issue.
  15. For some reason, spike it works better for me than JJ's... I think i've just committed sacrilege.
  16. You do not have to match diameters. 8 lb fluorocarbon will be good for all around. I use 6 lb mono, but you can make it work with 8 lb fluoro.
  17. I'd put 10 lb braid, and adjust your leaders to suit the technique you're using
  18. What are Stripers? a. a fish b. people who take clothes off c. a sports team d. none of the above
  19. I like throwing the Pointer 78 (3/8 oz) the most. Just a preference.
  20. You can, and then drag the jig on the bottom to feel for things like rock.
  21. Your choice of spinning rod with with a 2500 sized reel 10-15 lb braid to 8-12 lb fluoro leader
  22. Academy had these on sale so I picked one up. Also got a little order of finesse jigs from Siebert.
  23. To buy more gear.....
