  1. When fishing the senko, I use a 5" Yum Dinger. Cast it out, let it sink for about 3 seconds, and give it a slight jerk. Let it sink, and repeat. If the bass aren't very agressive, then just fish them like a texas rigged worm. Throw it out, let it sink, and pull your rod tip up, and repeat.
  2. Thanks for your input! I'll definitely be checking them out then
  3. Yay or nay? They're pretty cheap and I need a temporary rod.
  4. The first 2 days I went... I skunked. I decided to go out today, and conditions were even worse. Water was still freezing cold, and very murky. I tried throwing jerkbaits, having 40 second pauses... nothing. Tried finesse plastics... nothing! So, I pulled out a little rooster tail, and BOOM! The flash of the spinner was JUST enough to catch the fishes eye. Even though the fish was as big as the 1/8 oz rooster tail I was using, it still has been a fun day.
  5. For creature baits Texas rigged or weightless? ex) Zoom 6" Lizard Soft jerk-baits Texas rigged or weightless? ex) Zoom 5" Fluke Ribbon-tail worms? Craw baits? Stick baits? I usually go with EWG hooks, but what are times when EWG hooks aren't needed?
  6. Wow, that website has some amazing deals.
  7. Such as senkos, soft jerkbaits, basically any soft bait
  8. Looks slick! Good luck with it!
  9. Good luck with them man! On the flukes, if they are the regular 5" ones I usually just use a 4/0 EWG hook to rig it weightless. Let it sink for 3-6 seconds and give it a lil' twitch every now and then.
  10. Abu Garcia Ike Dude Combo... 6' Medium power... 4.9:1 Gear Ratio.. They cost about 40$ a piece. It seems that they have a lot of good reviews.
  11. You may want to get a kayak that has a rod holder... Makes unhooking the fish a lot easier with your hands free. This guy has one in his video :
  12. I skunked both days I went fishing this week. Air temp was about mid 40 low 50's both day, but the water was still cold. I tried jerk-baits and finesse baits. Absolutely nothin'. I'll just wait till it gets warmer because I never get any luck bank fishing this early.
  13. Wow, I'd rather be sitting by a fireplace..Did you catch any fish that day?
  14. For me, 4 ", 1/4 oz or 3/8 oz jerkbaits usually work. But sadly, regulations in my area are not heavily enforced, so there aren't really many bass that are too big, so I don't use big jerkbaits.
  15. They look pretty cool and fun to mess around with. Anyone have any success with them?
  16. I hate cold weather. I'm on my spring break and the water is still freezing cold. Went out to a local lake and it seemed like a ghost town walking down the bank. No signs of life in sight
  17. Would you still fish even from the bank aswell?
  18. It would be best to just experiment with a lot of stuff. Weightless plastics like senkos, texas rigged worms, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, etc. Whenever I have to fish out into open water from the bank, I always use a Zoom Super Fluke 5" in the baby bass color and it always works for me. Best of luck fishing!
  19. Yes, maybe in the future I'll try them out. In all honesty I just like how the Lew's Reel looks. Not a fan of the silver BPS PQ reel, but maybe one day I'll get over that and purchase one.
  20. Durian, an awful tasting Asian fruit. Even Andrew Zimmerman from Bizarre Foods couldn't handle the stuff
  21. Thank you guys for your opinions. I have decided that I will keep the Lew's $100 reel, plus a 7' Medium Moderate Fast action Veritas rod. Not really a big fan of the Bass Pro Shops stuff.
  22. Weightless Zoom 5" Super Fluke Baby Bass 4/0 EWG Hook
  23. Instead of the 59.99 Shimano rod I had listed in the OP, would an Abu Garcia Veritas or Vendetta do me better? Also on the Veritas, Micro Guides vs regular?
  24. It will consist of... -Lew's Speed Spool Casting Reel - $99.99 (6.4:1 gear ratio, 10 ball bearings) -Shimano Convergence Casting Rod - $59.99 (6'8" Medium Fast Action) Also, would this combo work for... Weightless plastics such as flukes and stickbaits? 1/4 oz or 3/8 oz hardbaits and buzzbaits? Not really going to be power fishing. The bass where I fish do not grow to become very big, sadly. (Max. 3-4 pounds) I will be fishing from the bank also.
