  1. I already sent my rebate form in for that reel . I had to wait 3 weeks for the rod to get here but it was WELL worth the wait
  2. I only went with a right handed reel because when I was younger I used right handed spincast reels. The first couple casts were pretty bad but I got better pretty fast. I hope the bait monkey doesn't visit too soon lol! On one of the backlashes I forgot to turn on any magnetic brakes haha.
  3. I just went out and used my first baitcaster today and caught 7. A regular Lew's Speed Spool ($99) with a Powell Max 683 CEF. 50 lb power pro with a 15 lb Seaguar Red Label leader. I'm surprised I only backlashed twice. I used a 1/4 oz bullet weight with a zoom trick worm, and a texas rigged pit boss. It casted the trick worm very well, despite it being light. I can't upload the pictures of the fish I caught because the files are too big. Although casting and setting the hook was very awkward at first because I used to use a left handed spinning reel, I have gotten used to it now. Can't wait to catch more in the future! Edit: I resized one of the pictures
  4. Just used 50 lb Power Pro, worked wonderfully for me. Still going to try to use 30, and 40 to see which is better
  5. Only took 3 weeks for my order to get here.
  6. LOL. I'm just going to experiment with 30, 40, and 50 to see which works the best. Thanks for the laugh haha.
  7. Pro Qualifier - Carbonlite combo that is SLIGHTLY over your budget. 6.4:1 gear ratio reel with the 7' MH rod will be a very versatile rod
  8. Why never less than 50?
  9. Thanks for the answers, guys. I think I'll just have to experiment to see which ones work best for me.
  10. For the fluorocarbon leader 12 lb or 15 lb?
  11. Gonna be using braided line with a fluorocarbon leader for jigs and texas rigs. Jigs will be 1/4 oz + trailer, texas rigs 5/16 or 3/8 oz. What lb test braided line should I use?
  12. If you are fishing in super super heavy cover, you can use it for frogs. But it might seem to be an overkill. 50-65 lb. will work
  13. Black and blue, and green pumpkin have always worked for me. 1/4 oz + a chunky trailer will total in about 3/8 of an oz. Or you can go a bit heavier if you'd like. I use 1/4 because the water I'm fishing in is only about 5-6 feet deep. I like a slow fall for my jigs,
  14. ALMOST had something terrible happen. I snagged my lure onto an old crankbait laying in the water. I didn't see it until I yanked my rod to free my lure and it came flying at my face. I was quick enough to dart my head to the right to avoid getting hooked in the eye. lol
  15. Something to create a large silhouette in the water. Black and blue jig, single colorado blade spinnerbait, black buzzbait,
  16. He was out for about a minute. I didn't really see much blood, just like a few drops of blood when I popped the hook out. I didn't tear anything out of his esophagus either. His throat looked completely fine. I'd say about 10 inches. My friend was late on his hookset lol.
  17. I just did this today. But, the fish was bleeding in the spot where the hook popped out. Will it be fine?
  18. Ordered : 5/26 Shipped : 6/6 I'm a pretty patient guy, but when it takes 11 days to process and ship an order, that's crazy. Scheduled to deliver this Friday. If it does, that's a little under 3 weeks. Next time I'll just stick to Tackle Warehouse.
  19. I do this aswell. No problems for me. I use a modified albright (alberto). 8 wraps up, 8 wraps down.
  20. That's unfortunate that I didn't see those! Oh well, guess I'll have to buy another rod here soon :eyebrows: . Does the 723 handle 1/2 jigz + 1/2 hollow frogs in light cover pretty well?
  21. Got it for $120 new. May get an endurance in the future, where can I find good deals on them?
  22. How do you guys like this rod? What do you use it for? How does it handle 1/4 oz, 3/8 oz, and 1/2 oz jigs?
  23. Soft jerkbaits!!
  24. Hollow Body Frogs! Booyah Pad Crasher with the hooks bent out or I like to replace the hooks with a size bigger. Kopper's frogs are nice, but I don't find it really necessary to spend that much on details that appeal more to the fisherman than the fish.
