  1. What types of rods and reels do you have? For me its squarebill crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs. If you're using spinning gear you can just downsize on the lures.
  2. The ones with the smallest bills will dive the shallowest.
  3. I'm pretty sure they are going to be around $170 ish
  4. Why do you not like the looks of the rods? The Inferno, Max, and Endurance series of rods have the same cork split grip, but just different color schemes. Do you not like purple? Lol
  5. Started fishing for panfish around 5-6 years old. When I was 7 I started targeting bass using beetle spins. My dad doesn't fish, and back then I was so young so I just watched a whole lot of fishing shows.
  6. TW and Bass Tackle Depot if you are patient...
  7. They reposted them on their Facebook. They look nice.
  8. 3/8 oz spinnerbait and a 1/4 oz black/blue jig with a paca chunk trailer. For the jig you'll have to lock down your drag to set the hook on long casts then loosen it up to play the fish.
  9. There was a similar post on here before... I think that someone talked about using a luggage scale that can be found on e bay for like $10. I might get one just to see how it works,
  10. Too bad our Walmart doesn't carry those. Only had watermelon and red shad in stock. I think I'm going to use a black and blue jig in this 2 hour morning fishing tournament. I have a lot more confidence in jigs than senkos. Went to fish early this morning and senkos couldn't catch crap
  11. Welcome to the forums! I was like you when I was thinking about getting my first baitcaster. I still ended up going with a MH, and I think you should too. If you only get a M you won't be able to explore all the techniques and baits out there. Moving up and using new tackle a lot more fun
  12. Don't forget patience when fishing senkos
  13. Isn't green pumpkin bad for stained / slightly muddy water? This is what I was fishing in but they were still biting on it. I thought green pumpkin is good for clear water. They also bit on watermelon colors too...
  14. I'm only 16 and I only have 2 rod combos lol, I can't buy a whole lot so I get decent equipment. I'll only buy if the stuff is on sale, though, so its usually less than $200
  15. I usually put more into the rod because the rod is going to feel all of the bites. An exception would be a frog rod, where you don't really need a sensitive rod. I would spend less than $200 dollars on a rod, but that's just me because I don't have the money to purchase higher end rods.
  16. Thanks for the tip! Will definitely look into that
  17. This pond is having a free fishing tournament this weekend and I think I know what I'm going to use.... even though I might get beat by some kids using live bait catching bluegill (no restrictions on bait, whoever catches the most fish of ANY species wins)
  18. The pond I usually fish has been an extremely tough bite for the last week or so. My friend had a bag of Yamamoto Senkos that he didn't think would catch any fish. He bet that I wouldn't have been able to catch a single fish on his 4" green pumpkin senko in an hour. I caught 6 or so the biggest being a 2 lber. I haven't used senkos in a long time, and I was silly not to. Going to buy some more...
  19. Cardinals traded Joe Kelly and Allen Craig for Lackey. Joe Kelly was a cool dude
  20. If I'm not mistaken, I think the OP wants the rod AND reel to be $150 total. For only around $150 dollars that is going to be a tough choice finding a high quality combo. The only one that I can think off the top of my head is the Pro Qualifier Carbonlite combo at Bass Pro Shops.
  21. I got the Powell Max 683 as my first baitcasting rod,and looking back I should've spent the extra money to get an Endurance. The pricepoint of the Endurance series isn't too far from the Max series. ($170-200). The Max series of rods are awesome, but you are better off spending the extra money because the Endurances are a lot better and you aren't paying that much more.
  22. If you wait until Black Friday if TW has their 20% off sale, then you can get one of the 714's for 159, if they still have them in stock. I've only used Powell rods, so I can't really comment on others Edit: If I had to go with a different rod I would probably try out a Duckett Micro Magic. Probably the 7' MH or the 7' H for jigs. On TW's website its recommended that the 7' MH is good for 1/2 jigs but someone posted a review saying that rod felt like a M.
  23. Lew's Tournament Pro which can be found for like $150. I have one and it is awesome. Out of your suggestions I would go with the *** Black. I think the 7'1" MH *** or the 7'3" would do you good
  24. The fishranger has Endurances for 149, but I think they are sold out of the model I posted. If you can find one I would jump on it if I were you.
  25. For some reason back in June and early July I was able to catch fish on a green pumpkin purple flake pit boss on a local pond. Now they won't even bite them.
