  1. Never got wahcked with a rod(knock on wood). But it looked like it smarted a little. I hae had crankbaits come flying back and hit me in the legs and body before.
  2. I caught my PB so far on a swim senko.I fish it weightless most ofthe time. I've also had some luck tossing it up on top of mats and "buzing" the tail across the tops till I reach the edge. Then kill it and let it sink.If they don't hit on the retrieve they'll hit it on the fall.
  3. Anyone here fish Lake Eufala in Alabama/Georgia? I'm thinking of taking my wife and sons there for a few days of my vacation and then fishing Lake Seminole a few days on my way back home. I would normally vacation a lot farther away but gas is ridiculous. Just wondering if anyone had a report on what's working over there or not.And maybe some good spots you can afford to share.Thanks.
  4. I use crawdads in the Santa Fe river with good results. Also use crawdad shaped and colored cranks.Catch mostly Suwannee bass on these but the occasional largemouth too.
  5. Fishe the Santa Fe river and caught several bass that are unique to the suwannee river ane a few others here in Florida. They're called Suwannee bass for this reason. They're about as close as you can get to catching a smallmouth in florida and boy are they scrappers. We caught a mixture of suwannees and largemouth today. All of the suwannees were keeper size which is the exception usually.I was with a buddy in his boat and no camera unfortunately. When I get back there again soon with my boat I'll try and get y'all a pic of one. They're pretty neat.
  6. I prefer a 4 or 5/0 Gammie EWG most of the time.
  7. As far as numbers go I may be down a little on average. But size is a lot better this year.I've been trying a few new techniques and lures so the lower numbers could be a result of the learning curve I uess, lol.
  8. yeah actually I do.What should I do? Use mono as backing?
  9. Anyone know what would make the drag on a reel stop working?I caught a fish the other day and my drag was basically acting as if it was turned off.I tightened it down the whole way and still nothing. The reel is a shimano callisto if that helps. Also when i checked the drag later at home it worked after not working all day.I'm puzzled. :-/
  10. It's hard to beat the cost and effectiveness of the plain old toothpick. But I have used some sinker stops made by water gremlin I think. They are just small bullet shaped split shots. You can also use a toothpick to keep your plastic in place on the hook too.
  11. I don't fish a buzzbait with a trailer.But I use a trailer hook sometimes.
  12. Try a finesse worm similar to the trick worm only smaller.
  13. Well my vote is in.After an afternoon test run with both I picked te rage tail.I had two hits on it and missed both. The first one was my fault, not paying attention. The second hit it on the run straight towards the boat.Till I caught up to him he let it go.
  14. Can't go wrong with plastics.
  15. I got a few packs of the rage tail toads but haven't tried them yet.maybe this afternoon.Then I'll make a vote,lol.
  16. I use 10' power worms, culprits and zoom mag IIs.I use a 5/0 EWG hook.I also thread the worm up about an inch or so before I bring the hook out.
  17. where are you going to be fishing and what are the water conditions(temp, clarity, etc.)?
  18. There is only one right reason to fish. Your own reason whatever it might be.
  19. I averaged my total weight on the fishswami report thingy and I average about 1 3/4 lbs.
  20. water gremlin makes a small bullet shaped split shot. They call it a sinker stop.It weighs about 1/32 oz.You just pinch it on top of your weight.I would recheck the sinker stop and my line often though as the tungsten weight hitting the stop will probably slide it up after some time.
  21. Nice fish and I hope your buddy's knife is sharp.
  22. A jitterbug and a devil's horse
  23. WEnt to one of my favorite lakes today,Bluebird skies in the morning, clouded up later.Anyway the water was high and almost(but not quite) chocolate milk.So I threw large bladed chart. spinnerbaits, rattletraps, and pitched a blue/black jig up in the flooded brush. My school of thought was to throw reaction bites and darker colors due to the muddy water. So I finally gave up and tied on a green/pumpkin trick worm and caught 2 bass deadsticking it and missed 2 more fish in 30 minutes. Then my wife calle and said it was time to go. My point is even though I read the books, articles, tips and everything else bass fishing, the bass apparently don't lol.
  24. A fairly successful technique with some lipless crankbaits is let it get stuck in the weeds and rip it out for the reaction strike. So getting stuck in those NH weeds could be a good thing.
