  1. Alone for me. I feel more free to think about the task at hand. When I fish with others I spend alot of brain power on How is my boat positioned, did I hit all the best cover, Am I going to fast, Is the boat too close to the structure. When I am alone I feel like I can put myself in the right position and not worry or think about the boat behind me. I can throw baits differently. I like to hit structure from a backwards cast alot when i am alone. I also Carolina rig and A rig more alone. I have a good way to take pictures too. Most digital cameras have a timer. I put the camera on the butt seat and lay the bass in the floor. I set the 10 sec delay count in my head as I grab the bass and smile right on que! Perfect pictures every time.
  2. Thats my thought also sir. If more people fish during the day, more fish will be caught during the day.. Just gotta get out and put a bait where the biggins are..
  3. Ya the website doesn't like cell phones at all...
  4. Amazing! I thought the classic had a chance to be big before that rain hit wed night. But never 110lbs in three days. I have been just draw dropped all morning over that. On FB he said he did some long lining with A 6XD and a shadolicious swimbait. He also was pictured with a spinnerbait fish. He just knew where those lunkers were... The Texas stud!
  5. Well looking at my logs I fished a total of three times in April and one time this month. Did win my club tourny in April and have the May one coming up soon. Work and 5 year old boy in baseball has been tough on my fishing. I just try to prepare and get the most out of my trips as possible.
  6. I eat when I am hungry. If snacks are available I might have that too. Not a breakfast guy tho. Most of my feedings start around noon. LOL I can only go fishing when work and the boss(wife) allows, so I just try to catch what I can catch. In tournaments this year my partner ad I have managed several fish over five pounds. They have come at all times during the day. First fish of the day to the last fish 5 minutes before 4pm. In my opinion big fish and all fish eat at all times of the day/night. Just have to be in the right place at the right time...
  7. I dropped them in my pool years ago and it didnt look any different split or intact. I split them cause it seems to release some salt or something in the plastic. These baits just glide, thats the draw. Well my opinion anyway. Good luck and try it both ways!
  8. Throw some top water and have fun! Buzzbaits even double buzzbaits.Pop Rs too.
  9. Always have bottom baits on my sticks. I have been down sizing my tungsten and when wind allows I go as small as I can. I like to feel that "Thump" and just reel down and whack'm. I haven't done the check, is he still on there thing in years. I remember Bill Dance saying "boys if you feel a tap, set the hook. They ain't got hands..." Hope to pitch some baits i flooded bushes tomorrow. Can't wait.
  10. I have been on a good jerkbait bite this year. Now the temps are mid to high 60's and even hit 70 sat. I found a riprap bank with some wind hitting it at the end of my tourny. I caught several just shy of the size limit and had some BIG bass chase those short fish to the boat. I would think in the right place it would still be effective. Just throw it and see!
  11. Fish eat in the rain. ;^)
  12. I am told I am paired well with my partner. I work slightly faster moving baits from the front and he uses slower baits in the back til we figure something out. Like this past weekend. He started to catch fish with texas rigs, so I started to throw one also. The thing I still did different was cast out deeper and parallel the bank more than him. We worked the same bait at different angles. Trying to cover the whole area efficiantly. We won our club tournament have been in the money six straight. I think when a guy picks apart the structure with a slow bait, jig, texas rig, senko, it kills the team. Have to work together!

Did well in the hot summer also. Got in a windy cove and hammered them. It was really windy tho. I could barely handle it. My partner just sit down and watched the show. I had 15 minutes to fish and landed 4 nice bass. Got second place in the tourny. It was amazing. They hit it like a freight train. I was bringing along a wedbed. If all else fails, why not try it. Worked for me.
  14. Just won my club tourny listening to a mix of George Jones, Snoop Dogg, jamie Johnson and Guns and Roses. I don't think it hurts the bite at all. Gives me a pep in the step too.
  15. We had a club tourny at Barren River Ky. I got lucky to catch 15.96lbs and won. We caught fish in 8 foot of water dragging baits on the bottom. Picked up some short fish on the flats with spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. It was a beautiful day in Kentucky. Water got up to 72 degrees. Carp were flopping everywhere by the 1000's
  16. I am sure there are alot of really great guys that are boaters. I have just heard way too many horror stories. I got a guy into fishing last year and he decided to "learn" from doing some BFL tournys. His first one was the last one for him. He drew a complete jerk. I told him that there was a chance of this and was hoping for the best. The dude made fun of him and screamed at him when the net wasn't in the right place. He said he did everything the guy asked. I could go on and on about this guy. If it was me I would have went to the tournament director as soon as I got off the boat. Guess thats the chance you take. Gripanrip's story was a good one to read. I hope to read more like that, so I can get this bad taste out of my mouth. I have just fished club tournys because of that drama. My advice would be to down size your offering and throw a senko when possible. If you get a boater that is a jerk, just boat flip your 5 pounder and say, I don't need a net!
  17. Sounds like alot of the leaders are on post spawners headed back out of the bays. I am sure the lures will be revealed sat evening.
  18. 36 bags over 20 pounds in the Rayovac tournament. Had to have 19lbs to be in the top 50. Unreal!
  19. I thought they showed Paul alot on the coverage. It was top heavy with big names though. Must have a budget issue, not alot of TV cameras on the boats. Mostly the Go Pros did the work. Jordan Lee and Paul could have won that thing if they had four days. Also I don't believe the northern angler stuff. They have fallen in love with Brandon Paulnik. Heck he is from Idaho... Just more southern guys in the mix. More lakes to get good on. Bssmasters is still on tv and that is what means the most to me. Would love a fishing only channel!
  20. Give me a reel and I will fish it. Put logos on my shirt and boat, whatever. I don't have tatoos but I would try it. I would think all the brands can throw a bait and have a good drag system. I have caught more fish back in the day on a Zebco 33. Could you imagine KVD trying to burn a spinnerbait with a 33? He would look like a sowing machine...
  21. #1 off the back on the down wind side of the motor. #2 only if you have a bingo dobber and it is ready to release, ask to run up on the bank behind a tree... Good question though. Makes me think. I would think the boater would understand if you gotta go, you gotta go.
  22. Guess you can say I like yellow. I decided to go with Wright and Mcgill and put them through a couple years of testing. So far the rods have held up and I have no complaints. At less than $100 a piece, I don't think you can go wrong. I have made most of my selection bait specific and add a combo when a new technique comes about.
  23. Just did this myself. White caps on a small pond. Tough to cast. White spinnerbait on the windiest banks caught me 20 bass in 30 minutes. Other than an Arig bite the spinnerbait bite is one of my favorites. Love it when they knock slack in your line and go the other way.
  24. I have caught bass and stripers on an Arig in that situation. Yum FlashMob Jr with Keitech swimbaits.
