  1. Maybe drop it off at the police station, to at least salvage your karma meter.
  2. Wow awesome fish. Must have been really exciting. What pound line were you using ?
  3. My favorite accomplishment has been spending some time with my Dad fishing from the 2 man canoe I bought especially for that purpose. My biggest accomplishment has been catching bass on a regular basis, rather than once in a while by pure chance. (For this I have to thank all the excellent advice I have received/read about on this forum).
  4. Looks good to me. I use them all the time with good results. Get a bunch of extra o rings too if you plan on using them. or this 1388621
  5. Same thing happened to me both days this weekend. I was wondering what the heck I was doing wrong....and then as soon as the sun cleared the trees and hit the water this afternoon I saw something interesting. There were schools of smallish 1 pound bass, and I could see them just grabbing the end of the worm and swimming with it. It just starting getting cold in NJ here at night, wondered if this had anything to do with it. I also saw lots of really small pickeral, was a weird weekend of sightings for me.
  6. All my quality catches this summer have been from my canoe, between 6am and 730am, around the edges of lilly pad clusters, using senko worms wacky rigged on weedless hooks.
  7. Nice, I just got mine in the mail today. I ordered it in orange. It's my backup, backup, backup knife.
  8. Congrats, nice fish.
  9. For first aid I make sure I have a roll of medical tape and large pads in case i need to cover a large area (ie. cover a large crank bait embedded in my body somewhere, or a large cut). Also a roll of gorilla duct tape for random emergency attachments. And always knife on belt for emergency cutting.
  10. You're welcome, glad I could help. I use it for both my 12 foot & 16 foot old town canoes.
  11. you need a longer paddle. i use the 280 by Bending Branches. you won't get a single drip in your canoe. http://www.austinkayak.com/products/1287/Bending-Branches-Slice-Glass-Solo-Canoe-Paddle.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw4aqgBRCvwLDi_8Tc54YBEiQAs6DLvGvjZ7q3hL4OsC2SZeNbumY4ARp3q5xnBwdZDX9LnxsaAsyS8P8HAQ
  12. i use the twine with carabiners tied on, just in case. one end attached to my life jacket and other one around the power cord (it is attached to battery with alligator clips). would feel like living a three stooges episode if i was floating in the lake as m canoe quietly motors away from me.
  13. I use the type with the full guard and have a lot of luck with them. The metal wire ones especially have not picked up weeds.
  14. This summer I started weedless wacky rigging with o-rings, and have been catching bass like crazy.
  15. Ran into the same problem. I bought a net, problem solved. Don't like to think about having a hooked fish thrash it's head and hook my hand while in the kayak.
  16. Test the seats before you buy. You may go cheap, and have something unbearable to sit in after 60 minutes.
  17. I fish there all the time. I normally cruise along the north shore and fish among the lily pads and bottom weeds (I mainly use artificial worms). I fish from either my kayak or canoe. A lot of times I will drop anchor near a patch of lily pads and just cast a worm and slowly fish it. Seems to work for me as long as I have patience. PS I was there on Sunday also and the lake was pretty crowded with boats. If you can get there sometime during the week, there will not be nearly as many boaters and you can take your time fishing various spots without feeling pressured by other boaters.
  18. I'm trying for the first time tomorrow also.
  19. That's a handy chart. I'm going to get the corrrect size wire and run a permanent connection along the rim of the canoe. Thank you for taking the time for posting the chart and giving the advice about the fuse.
  20. Hello, This summer I purchased a trolling motor for my canoe and have been having a blast. The only thing is that I would like to move the battery towards the front of the canoe. In it's current location (towards the rear) the boat is a little back end heavy, and the wind pushes the front around something fierce. Rather than add extra weight to the front (since it is a small 1 man canoe) I was thinking that I could purchase a set of jumper cables from Pep Boys and use that as sort of an extension cord. Bad idea ? any input would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you
  21. One time I went through 50 nightcrawlers without landing a fish. Once the nightcrawlers were all gone, I wacky rigged a 3" mini senko and caught a Largemouth on the first cast.
  22. Wow, same thing happpened to me just yesterday. I cast my worm into the splash and got a bite, but it felt like a ton of bricks on the line, then it snapped. There are snapping turtles the size or garbage pail lids there also.
  23. holy canolie those are some huge bears. the only time i saw a bear, i was fishing from my kayak and locked eyes with the bear about 20 feet on shore. I will admit, I was really scared because i was just sitting there floating and happed to look up and was eye level with the thing.
  24. i have hooked my own boat so many times, i would not feel comfortable casting next to someone elses boat.
