  1. Never mind, looks like it is working just fine.
  2. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/138465-rage-rig/ I had the same question and the URL above has all the right answers. Sorry, I don't know how to make it a hyperlink on my ipad.

Well if The Big-O says it's ok, then I believe I can take it to the bank. Thanks for all the input/info., any help is always appreciated.
  4. That's got to be a great feeling, catching bass on your homemade lure. The paint job looks flawless.

Thanks for info. I read the suggested rigging for the Eeliminator and it specifically stated not to use a keel-weighted hook. I guess I just took that idea and applied it to all of the Rage baits (confused myself).

I keep reading different posts about rigging all of the Rage Tail baits "rage rigged." Maybe I looked over something while looking at all of the diagrams/pictures on the Rage Tail website, but it looks to me that it's just a weightless T-rig. Am I missing something here???
  7. Man oh man does that blue craw look like it would kill it in the "ditch." Properly rigged w/a 3/0 Gami g-lock and 3/8 oz. bullet weight pegged.
  8. Yesterday around 6:30 p.m. I was throwing a t-rigged white Zoom trick worm and on my third cast to the edge of the grass in around 18" - 24" of water when a 3.5 lb. bowfin (we call them blackfish and mudfish around here) nailed it. Surprisingly my worm was spared the wrath of those nasty teeth and came out unscathed.
  9. I wanted to like the Pad Crashers, but the last few I have bought have been impossible to walk. I know I have the technique down b/c I can walk any other frog or top-water bait when conditions call for that. I just bought a Spro baby size popper in tree frog (I believe that's the color), hopefully it will serve me better than the Pad Crashers.
  10. Zoom Trick Worm in white or watermelon candy rigged weightless w/an Owner 4/0 straight-shank worm hook.
  11. Same here. I use 20 lb. Power Pro and have never had an issue. Now if you are trying to pull the line loose from something w/your bare hands I could see that stuff taking off a finger or two.
  12. Love the Hula Popper!!! I can pretty much find them at any tackle shop or online tackle shops. The only issue I have w/the Hulas is that all of the bream around here are too inquisitive (nosey) that I end up catching lots of them on accident.
  13. Welcome to BR Chris! You have definitely come to right place, and with the right attitude, to learn a lot about bass fishing and just about anything else related to the topic.
  14. IMO you can't go wrong w/an Okuma Avenger B. I've had one for several years on a 7" ml rod and have not one complaint about it. For a $40 reel, it has 7 bearings, a really nice/smooth drag system and performs like a reel at least three times its price.
  15. You might also want to look into a wire leader if you go looking for gar. They tend to shred anything else.
  16. For some reason unbeknownst to me, bean poles love some big girls (to be a little more PC, women that are short for their weight).
  17. The vast majority of my experiences w/trick worms have been simple lip-hooked bass. Forgot to mention how attractive/annoying (whichever makes a bass want to bite) the green pumpkin w/chartreuse tail trick worm is on a spot remover shaky head.
  18. IMO the Trick Worm has out-fished the senko worm many times over. Rigged weightless w/a 4/0 Owner straight shank bait-holder hook it is deadly. I go w/the straight shank hook b/c the point sits higher than the eye and it has given me a better hook-up ratio. Oh, and for color, watermelon candy for clear to slightly stained water and white when the water looks like chocolate milk (or if nothing else works).
  19. Totally agree w/Capt. Bob. Maybe I'm odd or something, but I do not understand the need for 150 yards or more on a spinning reel (for bass fishing applications). There is no predicament I can imaginarily put myself in where I would need that much line.
  20. I'm not going to call them fatties either, I mean there is a good chance they could break me in half w/a half-a$$ed jab! I am a short, skinny guy (5'9" 145 lbs.) but apparently my bacon mass index is around 25 (which is what THE MAN considers perfect).
  21. I've got a Smoke 25 on a ml/f 7' rod and I have no complaints at all. Handles drop-shots, shakey heads, and my favorite, the 4" Dead Ringer (watermelon seed w/ 1/16 oz. bullet weight and 2/0 g-lock hook) w/o any problems. The reel is smooth as silk and the drag is unbelievable. It's spooled w/20 lb. power pro w/electrical tape around the spool and no backing.
  22. Where exactly in NC have you moved to? The NE Cape Fear runs through my tiny town of Burgaw, NC and is loaded w/just about everything...largemouth, all types of pan fish, crappie, blue, channel and flathead cats, pickerel, gar and the unfortunately hooked too often blackfish (that's what they call them around here; proper name is bowfin).
  23. Very true. Aside from marathon runners, just about every other professional athlete is considered obese. I mean a 5'9" corner (you know those little guys they put on the field so I can be entertained when a big running back ruins their day) at 190-205 lbs. is apparently a larda$$ according to the stupid B(bacon)MI. What kinda moron comes up w/this stuff?
  24. Sounds like you two had a good time, and there is never a bad day fishing as long as you're catching. I love just giving my wife a bunch of crickets and a bobber and watching her have a ball catching anything that will bite, especially when my 2 year old daughter is with us. Only bad thing is that she will usually out-catch me (her w/the live bait), but no one is counting.
  25. Ditto! I know the folks w/lots of on-water experience use these terms all of the time, but the bank fisherman that does not have a boat to have electronics on has a harder time creating a mental picture of what all these features look like. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
