New From Richmond, Virginia

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

This is Chris from Richmond, Virginia.  I got into bass fishing about two years ago in my year of college looking to get away from bottom fishing for catfish bobber fishing in ponds.  I purchased a plastic worm kit from Bass Pro, watched some Youtube videos and haven't looked back since landing my first bass in the James River.  I don't have a boat so I stick to the banks at state parks or the pier at Osborne Park Boat Landing in Varina, where I landed my personal best.  My rods and reels are inherited from what relatives weren't using, so hopefully with some advice I'll upgrade them soon!!  All in all I'm looking to learn new techniques, new areas, and meet people to fish with around Richmond, VA. I'm looking forward to all everyone at bass resource has to offer!! Thanks in advance!!

Chris, great having you with us.

Ask your questions and we are here to give you our input.

Just remember, it is the HISTORIC James River!!!!!

Are you still in school or have you graduated?

Welcome to BR Chris!  You have definitely come to right place, and with the right attitude, to learn a lot about bass fishing and just about anything else related to the topic.

Welcome Chris, it sounds like our pasts have a lot of similarities! I've already learned a ton here that has translated to a lot of bass.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Sam, it won't happen again! I've enjoyed fishing the Historic James River!  I graduated in May 2013 from VCU and decided to stay in Richmond.

Flyfisher, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for "used" equipment at flea markets.  Thanks for the heads up!

Greetings Chris and Welcome to the forums :)
