  1. So just because the fish in your lake aren't good to eat means everyone else's is the same? Trust me they are fine to eat. Heck theres a lake on the air force base here I fish that has signs saying don't eat the bass due to mercury levels. That certainly doesn't mean ALL bass aren't edible.
  2. 20 minutes to reel in a 4lb small mouth... That's just dumb, that's like ultra-ultralight bass tackle... It shouldn't take you longer than a minute to reel In a bass really unless your long lining or something crazy...
  3. Are those any good to eat, Don't they eat them a lot over seas?
  4. I just went ahead a went to academy, bought a black and a white strike king buzz bait. Hopefully they are pretty good lol Looked around the entire hooks section and they didn't have one pack of trailer hooks.... Sigh...
  5. I still watch NASCAR and like it, but I'm gonna have to agree with roadwarrior... Its a sport built around cheating. NASCAR is about who can cheat the most without getting caught haha
  6. Broke my cavitron buzzbait, I'm gonna order more of those but I need some decent buzzbaits for this weekend. Any good ones at academy?
  7. If your getting broke off on rocks braid won't help...
  8. This will really turn into an endless argument, I respect your opinion but I'm gonna stand by mine.
  9. yes, but not taking into the account of more people fishing, if you take out 10 big bass out of a farm pond obviously that's gonna have more of an impact than taking 10 big bass out of a 10k acre lake.
  10. You mean it rained and the water got more clear?? around here when it rains the water gets less clear and the bass hold tighter to cover...
  11. well the size of the lake is a factor too, a 90 acre lake certainly needs to be looked at differently than a 10,000+ acre lake.
  12. aren't safe to eat? haha good one.... you can have an opinion on whether or not they taste good but they are definitely safe to eat and I have myself, they taste alright but not as good as bass/crappie. mudfish are seriously not bad fish, and they are beautiful. If anything just look at the pictures in that article, great fish... http://www.heartlandoutdoors.com/andrew/story/bowfin_are_bad_fish_please/
  13. I agree with a MH fast action rod being very versatile, there are sooo many good rods in that price range that you will get tons of suggestions, you will have to do a some research on your own and find out which one you want.... we can point you in the right direction though! I really like the Duckett White Ice rods!
  14. Yeti hit the nail on the head, If you do happen to decide to buy a new rod for just cranks the berkly cherrywood HD is a good budget option they can be bought for only 25$.
  15. Exactly.... Why is it okay to go to a place and catch a limit of bream/crappie but some people are disgusted by a guy bringing home 5 good bass. I remember one day I had 5 good 1-2 pound bass I was gonna bring home for me, my papa, and my cousin for dinner and as I loaded the boat this guy walks up with the usual "you wear em' out!" I was like yeah and opened the live well real quick and he saw the 5 bass and his attitude towards me instantly changed. It was as if he was talking to a different person all the sudden he acted like I spit in his face....
  16. It really depends, if you rig the Shakey head weedless but the actual drop shot worm is nose hooked or something then the shakey head will take more force than the dropshot hook to hook the fish... Same with if you use a jig as the weight.
  17. Those pro's that do the tournaments where you don't bring all your fish to weigh ins (only the biggest) they try to get the fished weighed, recorded, and back in the water ASAP because you never know if your gonna ride back through that spot later in the day and hook em again!
  18. If I do keep a 4lb bass (which is big for me) its the only fish I'll keep.... I'm not gonna take home five 4lbers, just thought I'd clear that up haha
  19. Make sure the two hooks/lures your using require a similar hook set, because if you have a normal open drop shot hook and a shakey head below you will never know which one got struck and what type of hook set to do....
  20. Its a bowfin, I absolutely love targeting them, they fight good and hit your lure like a freight train! They aren't that bad to get unhooked but if they have a treble hanging out of their mouth don't net them because they will roll and roll and roll ruining your net..... And using that hat as comparison that is a pretty good sized one too!
  21. Heck, I'd still fish with it lol
  22. ^^ That's a cool story, dang pretty fish too!
  23. I keep 4lb bass to eat every now and then, and I keep some bass on most of my trips.... Is that unethical? I don't think so....
