  1. Ya I wasn't all into the "waving your hands like a gangsta rapper" mumbo jumbo.... But then again it's focused on us younger hoodlums and a lot of people like to see the gangsta hands hahaha
  2. Lol all the jigs I fish, which is mostly strike king stuff, have the guard end right at the barb. So I figured I'd cut these down too...
  3. Well I'll take that into consideration next time I buy some jigs guys, but I'm sure I didn't make them unfishable (I hope) lol guess I'll just need to set the hook a little harder.
  4. I figured he made the guard longer so if people prefer a shorter guard they can trim it and if they want it longer they can leave it alone... Thanks for the bit of info.
  5. Hmmm, I've always thought it made hookups easier... Guess I need to rethink that. I don't fish a lot of brush, mainly grass. What if I fanned out the weedguard a little? Would that make it easier for hook sets while staying pretty weedless?
  6. What Students Really Need to Hear : Thought this was a pretty good video, worth a watch.
  7. All great fish! Great way to end the season
  8. Just got a couple Black and Blue Seibert Swim Jigs and I'm very excited to try them because they look great! All I did to modify them was trim the weed guard to the barb, I should be able to try them out Saturday and Sunday and ill post my thoughts in this thread. In the meantime, Who else uses the Siebert Swim Jig and what are your thoughts on them? http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Siebert-Swim-Jig-022.htm
  9. I generally don't try to force feed bass lures they don't want (Generally!). But maybe you could try a different color and make sure your hook points aren't rolled, they are sharp etc etc. Sometimes topwaters just won't hookup, I've had days where I've missed a lot more than 6 fish on a frog...
  10. It doesn't matter, I prefer tail down. Its personal preference.
  11. I also use 1/4oz the most, with 3/8 and 1/8 being next
  12. I use a MH/F for most of my Texas rigging with a baitcaster, but I dont really use light wire hooks much.
  13. You can catch the at the temp but it's probably not the best thing you could be throwing....
  14. Curious, what do you consider small? How many acres are the places your fishing?
  15. Nice! That is a hawg and a half man!
  16. I write in perfect Times New Roman.
  17. Seems like I have the best luck around here when the water is 60-63°, Not very often do I go out and fish are jumping in my boat haha....
  18. Any time I can tear em' up on a Square bill!
  19. If your pitching into only moderately thick stuff then a MH would be fine but I'm assuming when you say you wanna flip that you mean you wanna flip the thick stuff, so I would go with a Heavy as well...
  20. Trailer hooks really aren't needed 100% of the time when using buzz baits, If the bass is hitting the buzz bait and getting it in his mouth then why throw a trailer hook on? Now short striking is different, if I'm reeling it in and they miss the buzz bait completely a couple times then ill throw a stinger/trailer hook on. Most of the time its just a skirt and grub for me, just get better at top water hook sets and try to fight the urge to instinctively jerk the bait from the bass as soon as he breaks the surface. Buzz baits are an open hook lure so you don't need to have a hero hook set and swing for the fences as hard as you can, You can set the hook solid but don't do it sloppy.
  21. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/119978-fishing-small-ponds-without-structure/ First link on Google.
  22. Thats written in like half cursive half print lol...
  23. Probably around 4lbs on a SPRO of some sorts, not sure though...
  24. In reply to the post above, of course they can find any color in a body of water. Their multiple senses allow them to, but you can make it EASIER for the bass to find your lure. Wouldn't you want the bass to have the best chance at locating your bait and having an accurate strike? I feel using colors like black in muddy water for example do just that.
