  1. Custom build on a 7'6" MH Rainshadow Revelation and a Curado HG. I like 16 lb. Sunline Sniper for mine. I throw all my deep bottom contact baits on either 14 or 16 lb. Sniper.
  2. I throw mine on a custom 7'3" heavy/moderate glass rod. I used to throw mine on a Dobyns 734 but I will never throw them on anything but a heavy/moderate glass rod again. Brett Hite knows what he's doing with chatterbaits. I throw swimbaits on heavy/moderate glass rods as well. The tip isn't as light as you think and the chatterbait has a better action when it is being ripped through grass. I have thrown a chatterbait on a medium heavy/moderate glass rod as well but I wasn't a fan. Like someone posted earlier, it didn't pull thru the grass well. But a heavy/moderate is perfect. If you are interested in a custom I can hook you up. All blanks are made by Batson (board sponsor). The glass blanks are E-Glass, not the crappy S-Glass that most production glass rods are made out of.
  3. Hahahaha I freakin love it!!! I think an Antares HG would fit you better....
  4. Have you ever held or used a Duckett? They are the least stout rod out of any production rod I have ever used...
  5. You are no longer a life member of the Shimano fan club. Will you please take that off from above your picture please sir. Your privileges have been revoked and you will be required to turn your member card in on Monday.
  6. Everyone is spot on. If it were me I would use it for 7" hollow bodies and a-rigs.
  7. Spros come with Gamakatsu hooks and I have had them bend and break more than some stock hooks. Mustad are the best trebles from my experience.
  8. That's all you had to say. Throw some Mustad KVD short shanks on your cranks and I think your landing rate will go up. Also, whenever I hook a fish on a crankbait I kneel down and dip my rod in the water as far as I can to discourage the fish from jumping. Hope this helps.
  9. I feel like Spro should be on everyones list...if you haven't used them you should try them. I like 10XDs for anything 15-20ft. plus and Spro for everything else.
  10. Just want to say that I have never had a problem throwing a 10XD on 10 lb. test. Tie a good knot and check your line frequently for frays and you will be fine. I want my crankbait to go as deep as possible and to dig in the bottom as hard as it can.
  11. I use 10 lb. Sunline Sniper. 10 lb. fluoro is the best line for deep crankin IMO.
  12. They are customs, but you would be surprised at the price of a custom vs a manufactured rod such as Dobyns. The difference is not as much as you think, if any at all. Plus, you get to make the rod exactly how you want it! Shoot me a DM and I can get you hooked up if you are interested!
  13. Rainshadow Revelation 7'6" MH - 1/2 oz. football jig Rainshadow Eternity2 7'6" MH - 3/4 oz. football jig Rainshadow RX7 7'6" H - 1 oz. football jig Rainshadow Revelation 7'6" MH - 3/4-1 oz swinging jig Rainshadow RX7 7'6" H Flippin Stick - grass jigs in mats Rainshadow Immortal 7'6" MH - flippin jigs around wood And yes I have two of the same build, probably gonna have three here soon lol
  14. Just like everyone else has said, it's hard to tell from your situation but I will say that YES, the visibility of braid can cause highly pressured fish (and some not so pressured) to not bite. Guntersville is one of the most pressured lakes in the US too. So, the braid could have been your problem, or you weren't getting your bait in front of the fish.
  15. Yes it does. That is my price tho as I have a deal with a custom company. But, regular price was still $80 give or take $10 less than a Dobyns Champion.
  16. You never know how a rod will turn out based on price. I have a boat load of customs and a lot of them are built on the Rainshadow RX7 blank, which I believe was the cheapest graphite blank Rainshadow had at the time. The sensitivity of that blank is better than most production rods IMO, even $250+ rods. It was definitely way more sensitive than a Dobyns Champion at about half the sticker price. Some cheaper blanks can just be special, so all those discounting this rod already because of price...don't. Look what *** did with the ***.
  17. No need for the DX 744 if you already have the Champ 734. I would go with the DX 745 and the Champ 733 like iabass8 said, or the 703 if you want a shorter rod.
  18. lol your hook set isn't the reason your treble hook bent. I don't understand why multiple people have said that. If the hook set did happen to cause the treble hook to bend then it is because you were using braid, the hook set alone has nothing to do with it. That being said, you can take a pair of pliers and bend the hook back or change the hook. I always opt for Mustad Elite Short Shanks for my crankbaits.
  19. Just buy a Boogerman and you will forget about whatever it was that you were using.
  20. What techniques would you like to use them for? Bass Tackle Depot has them 20% off right now for their Memorial Day Sale.
  21. Are you gonna spool the whole reel with red label or are you going to use braid with a fluoro leader? I would not recommend using straight red label on a spinning reel, it will not end well.
  22. Call Brian at The Tackle Trap and get a price on a Dobyns 684CB. It will be slightly over $150 but it's one of the best jerkbait rods out there IMO.
  23. lol Zman sucks again
  24. I totally agree. I use graphite for deep bottom contact baits, flippin, and punchin. That's it. Everyone on here preaches that a MH/F action rod can do anything. I agree that it can, but it doesn't do anything great. IMO a glass rod excels for ANY moving bait out there. Topwater, crankbait, swimbait, chatterbait, buzzbait, spinnerbait, swimjig, etc. And I would never be caught throwing these on graphite ever again. Edit: I will use a graphite rod for rattletraps if I am throwing them in grass, that is the only exception.
