  1. I don't post a lot of fish pictures, and I have my reasons, but if you put me on the list, I will install some MO-JO, guaranteed. Ronnie

Congratulations Cliff, Nice fish! I'm real glad the rod is working for you. Keep on keeping on! Ronnie
  3. I'm with AJ on this one. Great job CJ!! Ronnie
  4. Can't wait to see the full report. Get on a stick man! Ronnie
  5. You will love this reel no matter which line you choose. Use the line you have, 10/12lb mono will work fine. I don't like using less than 50lb braid on baitcasters as it digs in much easier in the smaller diameter. I really like #10 Yo Zuri Ultra Soft on my 50Mgs. JMHO Ronnie
  6. Dear tnoutdoorgirl69, Welcome to the forum. One of the moderators will likely move your post to the boat section of the forum, so don't worry if that happens. Thank you for sacrificing your time with your husband. I appreciate his service and your allowing him to serve. As to your question, fiberglass refinishing is really not a DIY project. Please don't think for a second that I am saying you shouldn't do it because you are a girl, or you are not able to paint stuff. The fact of the matter is, it is not paint. The fiberglass itself is pigmented with a colored dye when the boat is built. The glossy finish is an epoxy gel coat that is sprayed in the mold before the boat hull is cast. The gel coat can be refinished but it takes specialized tools and expertise. I would call around to your local marinas and tell your story. Ask who is the best around at refinishing boat hulls. I bet you will find someone who is willing to help you for a reasonable price. There are a few experts here on fiberglass (LBH where are you) who might have better suggestions. Sorry I can't be more help. Ronnie

  8. I don't think it's available in a 2 piece. Must be a mistake on the tackle site. Mine is only one and Loomis's website shows it as a 1 piece. Ronnie Thank you, I think I saw 2 piece on 2 or 3 different sites. But TW where I order from, says nothing about that, so I'll just assume it's 1 piece. Mhmmm, what reel to put on it? Daiwa Alphas, MG50, Curado, Citica 100dsv, Revo S I'm trying to save as much money as I can, but at the same time, I want a nice reel ;D I Love them 50Mgs. If you watch them on ebay, they aren't too bad. Dropshotting and shakey head are finesse techniques. The 50Mg is a finesse reel that will handle any fish that grabs your lure. It is amazing to fish with also. I have 4 of them. JMHO Ronnie

  10. G-Loomis Dropshot rods are the only Bass rods that do not have hookkeepers. Instead they have an elastic band to hold a dropshot rig. Ronnie

You are going to get a lot of recommendations for Jigs that cost $5, $6 and $7 apiece. They are great, and will catch fish, but I think you can experiment with jig fishing techniques very well with a kit like this. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_15376_100008001_100000000_100008000_100-8-1 When you get addicted to jig fishing, and you will, you can make a better judgment about which of the more expensive jigs to buy. Ronnie
  12. Awesome reels, I have 4 of them. Ronnie
  13. Unless you are going to spiral wrap the rod, I wouldn't use fly guides as they will hold line closer to the blank and cause the line to touch the blank when heavily loaded. If you are spiral wrapping, put the double footed 8 between the 12 and 10 as a bumper guide and go with the rest as planned. You will be glad you did. JMHO It will look like this.... Hope this helps. Ronnie Ronnie
  14. I have the DSR820S Mine is on a GLX blank. It's the only real finesse rod I have. I use it for 'shakey head' fishing also and it's excellent! I believe the non-GLX dropshot rods are built on a 'Bronzeback' blank. It's very close to an IMX as I understand it. Hope this is helpful. Ronnie

Speechless! Amazing picture! Thanks for sharing it! Ronnie
  16. Those 2X4s are awesome looking baits Jay (**cough-werz min-cough*) I especially like the trout pattern (*cough-don hav 1 yt-cough*) Your workmanship is really impressive (*cough-top bit sun-cough*) Sorry about the nasty cough. Ronnie
  17. Welcome Aboard!!
  18. That's awesome! Although my skill level doesn't come close to yours, I could use some tips on how to optimize my setup for casting light-weight presentations. (Practice is a given.) It has way more to do with the DC reel than with my skill level. The digital cast control on the Shimano TE-DC reels is phenomenal. Very expensive, but it works (I can only afford one). I use the Calcutta DC for cranks and topwater (treble hook lures). I adjust the brakes according to lure weight/size and wind conditions. Lighter weight and higher wind=more braking. The Calcutta DC is one of the few Shimano reels that has the brake controller on the outside, just have to turn a dial. For all other reels, no brakes at all. I just use the cast control knob to adjust for different baits. Line is #10 Yo Zuri Ultra Soft and rod is a Lamiglas, all fiberglass custom cranking stick. I use #12 Yo Zuri Ultra Soft and 50lb Power Pro braid on all other baitcasters. I hope this helps. Ronnie

Congratulations Tony! Now with the post count gone, it really sucks to be color blind on this board.

Hey T-Bone, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I noticed your in Hammond, LA. I went to school at SLU and had a home in Robert for 6 years afterward. Small world! Ronnie
  21. I got a letter from "Ed McMahon" telling me that I won $1,000,000. How cool is that?? Ronnie
  22. It's going to be a while yet here, but I can't wait to start throwing them Ronnie
  23. Spray some KVD L & L on the Ultra Soft the day before you go out. It will behave even better. You will be amazed. Ronnie

Right on! 7 1/2" Black shad, Texas rigged with bullet weight. Fished slowly on the bottom. I have caught 100s of bass on this worm. Ronnie
  25. Congratulations Fisher! Always a generous, kind word from you. Scott got it right when he said "we are honored to have you here". Definitely ELITE! in my book. Keep on keeping on! God bless you, Ronnie
