  1. Happy B-day bluegrass boy! Ronnie
  2. If you can borrow an old crank telephone. Put the electrodes in the water as close as you can get and start cranking. It won't kill them, but it sends a clear message. You either have to kill them or give them a very negative response to getting in the pool. Ronnie
  3. Tom, There are lots of guys on here who could probably fix your rod, but the high cost of shipping rods makes it cost prohibitive. Example: I could replace the guide on your rod for less than $20, but it would cost 25 or 30 dollars each way to ship it. Your best bet is look in the phone book or 'google' a rod builder in your area. I bet you can find a local tackle shop near you that will repair it reasonably. Good luck. Ronnie
  4. I would go to a land line and call customer service. If you can understand what they are saying through the Indian accent, there is probably a number to dial that upgrades the firmware on your phone to make it compatible with networking changes your carrier has made. I have had to do this with Verizon a couple of times, but my phone didn't stop working. Good Luck
  5. Brent, I totally agree, but you have to earn trust. My advise is for guys who either haven't been married very long or have relationship issues with their wives. A little self sacrifice is a good place to start. Ronnie
  6. WHOAA!! Back up here a little bit. I said nothing of being deceptive. You must plan a real trip, preferably with other guys who will go on without you. I guess I wasn't clear, but I meant you should be prepared to actually go on this trip. By offering to stay home you only up your chances of going with her blessing. You must run the risk that a real, special fishing trip will be canceled in order to prove that you really do value her more than fishing. It MUST actually cost you a fishing trip. If it's a deception, then you lose all the way around and should seek marriage counseling. I will never suggest that a man lie to his wife under any circumstances!! Sorry I wasn't clear about that in the original post. :-[ Ronnie
  7. OK boys, pull up a chair. All you have to do is prove to her that you really do love her more than fishing and you will likely never have to miss another fishing trip. Plan a fishing trip that is not tied to anniversaries, her birthday, or any other special occasion. Talk it up for weeks in advance, then when it comes time to go on the fishing trip, cancel out and tell her as much as you had looked forward to this trip, you just really need to stay at home and be with her. If you can convince her that you really do love her more than fishing, (and you should) then fishing ceases to be a threat to the relationship. Fishing time can very well become that special gift she can give to you to show her affection. Try it! Ronnie
  8. Geeeezzz...you make one little mistake and before you know it, it's all over the internet. ;D ;D
  9. 10" & 12" Culprits. Texas Rig them with 4/0 non-WG hooks. Ronnie
  10. Terminator Pro Top Secret is a good bait. The rattles are tough and well hidden. I especially like the trailer keeper under the hook. The hook stays free of any plastic or pork. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=29910&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults
  11. Glad you are home! Great story! Thanks for sharing and serving! Ronnie
  12. I have NEVER seen it anywhere except Cabela's. I just thought they had some kind of exclusive marketing rights to it. I have enough to last awhile, but will stock up if it's being discontinued. Ronnie

    Aboard!! Ronnie
  14. It seems to come up about every six or eight weeks somewhere on the forums. It's either "Ugly Stick" bashing or "G-Loomis" bashing, but for some reason, there seems to be a fishing gear 'class' war. I chalk it up to where people are in life. For young folks who are struggling to put gas in their car to get to a part time job while trying to get through school, or a young family getting started, it is indeed foolish to spend big bucks on 'high end gear' for fishing. However for some of us older guys who have already worked through all that stuff and had 30+ years of work time, paid off their house, had years to save and invest, a higher dollar rod or reel is not such a stretch. I just hope that wherever you are in life, you don't feel like you have to defend yourself. No matter what you fish with, a willow branch or a diamond studded custom, you are welcome on my boat. Just keep on fishing. Ronnie
  15. MikeMc, I won't be much help here. I am such a cheapskate, I have never bought one new. I have acquired all my reels from e-bay and the flea market on this board. The one I got this week was a trade for a Chronarch 100 BSV from a fellow board member on the flea market. Sorry! Ronnie
  16. Fly tying head cement will work. I don't use a tippet, I prefer a 9' tapered leader. They are kind of expensive, but I am spoiled with them. You can get head cement at any fly fishing shop or on line. I think it will help your situation. Ronnie
  17. I just received my fifth (5th) 50Mg in the mail today. I like them a lot! I think they are as good as they say they are, if I am included in them. LOL 8-) Ronnie
  18. Just the spelling. They are the same thing.
  19. Do a search on the site for "Carolina Rig" and you can read for hours. This will get you started..... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1120348381 Have fun! Ronnie
  20. There's a lot of Jersey boys here. I have fished with several of them. Ronnie
  21. She sure is purty! Good Job!
  22. Individual strands of silicone skirts. Ronnie
  23. I couldn't be without them. All of my stuff is segregated in small zip-lock type bags and put into my 3700 boxes. You can buy the little ones in several sizes at craft stores like "Michael's" or "A.C. Moore". I use them to organize rod building parts and small parts in the garage also. They are great! Ronnie
  24. I have lost a few. It's hard to not gut hook one every once in a while. Ronnie
