Shimano Chronarch 100BSV - 1/8 oz you have to be carefull, but it's doable. Shimano Chronarch 50Mg - 1/8 oz is no problem Shimano Calcutta TE200DC - It has no lower weight limit. I have some Rapala F03 floating balsa minnows that weigh 1/16 oz. No problem. I have 3 ABU reels that I only use for live bait so I don't know about them. Ronnie

It's not just fishermen. I sometimes walk the banks of my lake, which is in a county park. I was picking up a few small ones along the bank last year when this woman brings her dog right to where I'm fishing and starts throwing sticks into the water for the dog to fetch. If you keep the loop on top of the knot and wet the line with some spit, it will look nice and tight.

That will make you go blind! I have only caught bass on a jig in heavy cover when it was really sunny or really cloudy. I have seen clouds start rolling in (pressure dropping?) and it turns on the bite, so my experience says clouds are OK. Ronnie

I have a 5'6" Lamiglas spiral wrapped custom. I call it the "Pistol" It's for high accuracy pitching & casting. I also have a 6' Loomis IMX 724 spiral wrapped with a Shimano 50Mg. At Guntersville the boys were taking turns holding this combo and all said "the lightest rig I've ever held". I have an 8' swimbait rod, a 7 1/2' flippin stick and several 7' rods, but sometimes you just can't beat a short stick. JMHO Ronnie

Line size shouldn't matter. If you are using braid, tie a short length of mono to the spool (with an arbor knot) and attach the braid to the mono. Otherwise the braid will slip on the spool. I hope this makes sense. Ronnie

Tie it according to the link above. Once in place pull the line to stretch it and it will recoil tight to the spool. Ronnie

Legend Tournaments are built on SCIV blanks. Although I haven't fished with them, they are intended to compete with the G-Loomis IMX line. They should be comparable. Individual tastes notwithstanding. Ronnie

A lot of guys will prefer to use spinning gear, but the original question was "is there a good light baitcaster on the market that enables you to cast lighter baits with ease and still has the power to haul in an 8 lber..I like baitcasters much more than spinning reels" The answer is YES, you can throw light baits with most decent baitcasters. If you can afford a Diawa Pixie or Steez, Shimano DC or Mg with a good rod that has a little flex, you can throw VERY light baits. JMHE Ronnie

Hey Keith, If your truck is not at least 20 years old, chances are, there is (should say was) a spring or seive in the filler tube that prevents siphoning. Which means it's now broken and pieces of it can/may be in your tank. Thieves would have to break it to get a hose into the tank. The broken pieces can damage the fuel gauge and/or pump) if it's electric and mounted in the tank. Not all vehicles have these, but it is pretty common. The best way to find out is from someone who has the same truck. Of course, if you have ever siphoned from your own tank (for the lawn mower or boat) the answer is clear. Just thought I would cheer you up. Sorry, I know it's not funny, but you should check on it as you make your repairs. I have great disdain for thieves. Really sorry for your circumstances. Ronnie

A 5" senko with no added weight and a EWG hook weighs almost a 1/2 oz. I wouldn't consider it a 'light' lure and any decent rig should cast it easily. JMHO Ronnie

I rarely flip baits, but I pitch with nearly every rod I own. From 5'6" to 8' I will pitch with most any rod. Most guys pitch with 7' plus rods. I often pitch around docks and laydowns with a 5 1/2' stick, it's very accurate. Ronnie

If your knot is good and and your guides are good you must have bad line. Even though you re-spooled, you could have two spools from a bad batch. Buy a new spool of line or different brand from another source. It is VERY unlikely that toothy fish are cutting your line on the hook set. It is far more likely that the knot failed or the line is defective. I hope this is helpful. Ronnie

Make sure you are using a knot that works with braid. A clinch knot with braid will slip off every time. Palomar knot is the way to go with braid. Also check your rod guides and be sure they are smoot and not cutting your line. JMHO Ronnie
