  1. I unplug the lights to keep cold water from breaking hot bulbs and the to prevent the longshot chance of a short circuit. JMHO Ronnie
  2. I love Shimano products and I am a card carrying member of the Shimano posse, but I have to dissagree about the warranty. Shimano will not help you with a rod unless the rod is obviously defective and you are the original purchaser. The following is copied from their respective websites. Shimano's deal.... G-Loomis asks no questions they just replace the rod..... Ronnie

I appreciate the site at any speed. Is there anything I/we can do to help? Thanks for your work on the site! Ronnie
  5. I sent 4 reels to RM this morning. Gotta get them SHIMANOS ready for the Fork trip. ;D Ronnie
  6. Hey Ronnie, If you decide to go with the Loomis blank, I would go with IMX. The extra sensitivity on the GLX is lost on a spinnerbait only rig. Also leaves $ for fancy cork, guides, etc.. JMHO Ronnie
  7. Perfect answer Bass Brat. This thread should be over. Some guys that fish with a $50 rod think those that those who fish with $300 rods are stupid and don't have a clue. On the other hand, some guys that fish with a $300 rod think those that fish with $50 rods are stupid and don't have a clue. This argument has been repeated on a 1000 threads, and never seems to get old. It's a good thing everyone doesn't think alike. To each his own. JMHO Ronnie
  8. Like others have said, get snagged a lot and you will learn where bass live. JMHO Ronnie

Welcome aboard Glades! I will look forward to your input. You will enjoy the site I'm sure! Ronnie
  11. GOOD JOB RUSS, Thanks for devoting your time to the kids! There's lots of ways you could spend it, but few that would be more valuable. BTW: I am running out now in 18 degree weather to fish all of your honey holes. LOL Sadly my 'Misty Harbor' aluminum is not much of an ice breaker. Keep on Keeping on! Ronnie
  12. What fluke said!! Where did you get the tubing? I would love to get my hands on some of that. Thanks for posting the pics. That's real nice work! Ronnie
  13. IMX is a BIG step up from GL3 and well worth the extra $. JMHO Ronnie
  14. G-Loomis makes their drop shot rod in the new "Blend" ?? and GLX. I don't know much about the blend except it is cheaper and Loomis doesn't make a bad rod. I just bought a new Gloomis Drop Shot DS820S in GLX. I just got it last week and haven't fished with it yet, but I can tell you it's sweeeet! $259 from fatfishfarmer on ebay. JMHO Ronnie
  15. I agree with dodgeguy, try a larger diameter braid, it behaves much better. Minimum 50lb on a bc, you can get away with lighter braid on a spinning reel. JMHO Ronnie
  16. Basschaser57 has summed it up pretty well, they want us dead. They have always wanted us dead. It is only matter of time until we see the kind of daily market bombings and terrorist attacks on main street USA as Isreal has lived with for a very long time. I am not an alarmist, but a realist. No amount of dipolmacy will change 1000s of years of religious hatred. Radical Islam is not intereted in "getting along" at all. Only one thing means success, destruction of all who believe otherwise. Ronnie
  17. OK, you are in the posse. Pretty easy huh? Ronnie
  18. Your son is a hero by anyone's measure. I too am proud of him. Tell him thanks for me too. Ronnie
  19. Redsyn, I chose this setup from recomendations from several swimbait websites and a couple of the swimbait fishermen on this site. I have not fished with it yet, as the rod is still under construction and it's 18 degrees here. Ronnie
  20. I am building a G-Loomis BounceBack 8' Swimbait rod. I have a Calcutta 400 to make my swimbait rig. I can't wait to try it. I will be ordering some Mattlures soon. Ronnie
  21. I use double (opposing) nail knots. I have a little tool that makes tieing them pretty easy. I have borken the line on both sides of this connection, but never seen it fail. JMHO Ronnie
  22. What I like about RW is, he is so subtle. ;D I heartily agree, BTW. Ronnie
  23. It pays to fish with a regular partner if you can. I have a couple of fishing partners that I fish buddy tornaments with. I will even give them the front of my boat, especially the youngster, I am entertained all day. I wouldn't fish a tournament with a stranger. JMHO Ronnie
  24. If you havn't already bought the line, I would suggest using 50lb braid. The larger diameter behaves better and less worry about breaking off. Look at the lb test rating for your reel and use the corresponding diamenter in braid. JMHO Ronnie
  25. Good job Ben! We are rooting for you! Fish your heart out! Ronnie
