  1. I use opposing nail knots, it's a hassle to tie. I use a little tool that makes it easier. Very strong. Link to the tool...http://www.tie-fast.com/Tie-Fast%20Knot%20Tyer.htm Ronnie
  2. Avid, Murphey's law: "anything that CAN go wrong WILL go wrong". I used to work with a guy named Murphy. He decided that Ronnie's law was even worse. Ronnie's law: "even things that CAN'T go wrong WILL go wrong" Congrats on retrieving some of your data, here's hoping you get your computer troubles straightened out soon. Ronnie
  3. Only mildly related... When the oil economy collapsed in Louisiana in the middle 80s (along with several other states), I came to NJ to work (like 1000s of others). I was here for almost a year without seeing my wife or my 2 year old daughter. When they finally moved here to stay, I promised myself, my family and God that I would starve to death before I would ever leave them again. Pro atheletes that must travel constantly make a huge life choice, I hope that they will realize that a healthy family is better than Bass angler of the year. JMHO Ronnie
  4. I plan on trying it on the Stella and the crankin reel, everything else is spooled with power pro. Ronnie
  5. If the snowstorm doesn't keep me away, I am going to Cabella's tomorrow to review the Fork trip game plan with the Mooks. I plan to pick up some of the magic 'ultra soft' while there. Ronnie
  6. I've been building rods and tying flies for a while now. I'm just now getting into custom crankbaits, I'm afraid to start pouring lead & plastics because I am easily addicted. LOL Those are great looking jigs! Keep up the good work. Ronnie
  7. Look closer, there are no radio antennas. I have another guess. I bet this boat is for mooring larger boats and bardges. I bet it never gets more than 200 yards from a dock. All those motors are to push a big ole boat/bardge into the dock and help tie it up. Ship mooring is a big business on the Mississippi river. They normally use tug boats, but I have seen a few big aluminum craft with big dual outboards. They usually only carry the big (4" diameter") ropes. It's a mooring boat, that's my guess. Ronnie
  8. This boat lookslike it is for delivering outboards. Must be going for quick acceleration, (emergency resque boat?) no other reason for so many motors. It's a funny looking rig, that's for sure. Ronnie
  9. I also swap hands and use right side handles. It's so natural to me that I see no reason to change now. I don't ever remember it causing me to lose a fish or miss a hookset. JMHO Ronnie
  10. Good Job! I love a simple spiral. All of my baitcasters (except one) are wrapped like yours now. You will love how it fishes. Way to git r dun. Ronnie
  11. Shimano Stradic 4000 & 6000 (saltwater), Twin Power 2500 and Stella 1000FB. Ronnie
  12. Why spend any money at all? Use braided line, tie your favorite sinker to the end. Move up the line the appropriate distance for the depth you want to fish and tie a double overhand loop in the line. Make sure your loop is large enough to tie a palomar knot to your hook and viola! Drop shot rig! JMHO Ronnie
  13. And the epidemic spreads a little farther... Congrats on the new rod. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Ronnie
  14. My wife used to love to fish. She was the only woman I ever knew that would get on a boat in the dark and fish till it got dark again. How many girls do you know who will do 15 hours in a boat? We went fishing/camping on our honeymoon, believe it or not, I will post some pics if I can get the scanner to work. She outfished me that week (I was a little more focused on other/honeymoon things), and she never let me forget it. I miss that woman something fierce. We were married 22 years when she passed away with brain cancer. Our youngest daughter (15 years old) is getting pretty cocky about trying to outfish her old dad. We will see. Never take those awesome wives for granted boys, they might not always be there. Please don't be bummed out by this, I'm not. God blessed me to have 24 years more than I deserved with her and the memories are priceless. I get happy every time I think of her. Ronnie
  15. You know, just today I was thinking about getting a Floooger. NOT! Ronnie
  16. Hi Lori, Welcome to the forum. You will like it here. I like the peck's poppers also. They are great when the top water bite is on. If you can't get them to hit on top, try a couple of small split shot sinkers on your tippet or leader to get them to sink a little. Sometimes working them just below the surface is the ticket. If you over do it, casting becomes more difficult. Try it. Wooly buggers will also produce bass on the fly and you can get them almost anywhere. I hope this is helpful. Ronnie
  17. OK, now this is a thread called 'kissing your fish'. It is almost two pages long now. I'm beginning to wonder if I should be worried about some of my BR buddies here. There's not a "Lonely Hearts Bass Club" out there? Is there? Ronnie
  18. Name: Ronnie (most of you know that) Occupation(s) Bi-vocational church elder and Licensed Land Surveyor (with my own little practice) Location: Central NJ Ronnie
  19. I used to chew "RedMan" leaf tobacco and smoke 4 packs of cigaretts a day. Did that for 22 years. I caught the chicken pox from a kid at church. Got them in my lungs (vericella pnuemonia) died on the table a couple of times and spent a month in an ICU with a ventelator tube down my throat. By God's grace, I survived it. Havent had any tobacco for 16 years now. It's like being released from prison. No more hacking and coughing up blood in the morning before coffee, no more stopping to catch my breath after climbing a flight of stairs, no more anxiety attacks on an airplane, etc, etc, etc. Best of all, the habit doesn't control me anymore. God bless you, you can do this. "Keep on keeping on" Ronnie
  20. Bass boat: A hole in the surface of the water designed to hold large amounts of money. Ronnie
  21. Robert, This is what he said... [ch32004]3[ch20998]38[ch31186][ch32004]3[ch20998]38[ch31186][ch32004]3[ch20998]38[ch31186][ch32004]3[ch20998]38[ch31186]..... ;D Ronnie
  22. How am I going to use up this 1500 yard spool of Power Pro line that came in the mail today?? I don't have enough reels to put it on. Love that P.P. ;D ;D ;D
  23. Alpster replied to a post in a topic in Everything Else
I don't know how to reach him either. I hope he is Ok. I'm sure there is some kind of misunderstanding. Where the heck are ya? Ronnie
  24. I use Power pro on just about every reel I have. I recieved a package in the mail today. 1500 yard spool of Power Pro braid. I don't see how you can beat it. JMHO Ronnie
  25. I have a 7' 6" G-Loomis Flippin stick FS904C. It will cast a bait up to an ounce and will do all else you have listed. I am like RM and don't recomend it for cranking. I throw frogs with it also. Ronnie
