  1. Carl, We will give you a shout when we are on the road Saturday after we get a cup of java in us. The GPS will give a pretty good estimate of arrival time. Looking forward to seeing you. Ronnie
  2. I had to chain the bus to a stump, keeps trying to leave without me. Bass bus rolls at 5:00 AM EDT. Ready or not here we come. Ronnie
  3. I am old enough to be too lazy to shave. BTW in about 34 hours it will be 3 mooks in a BUS! Can't wait! Ronnie
  4. Bass Bus is ready to go. With Craig's slick new stickers in place. The 3 mooks in a bus will be representing with class. THANKS CRAIG! We are counting hours now. WHOOHOOO! Ronnie
  5. Ultimate Dropshot rig. G-Loomis DSR820S GLX and Shimano Stella 1000FB. I havent fished them together yet, but I will soon. Ronnie
  6. KU, I can't speak for the blanks that mud hole is liquidating, but the crankin rod I built for muddy man, my crankin rod and my noodle rod are all Lamiglas. I also built a 10' surf rod for a friend that's a Lamiglas. No better blank for the money is my experience. It's only a matter of time before I build another one. If mud hole has a blank that meets your specs, I woudn't hesitate to grab it. The selsection was pretty poor the last time I looked. Ronnie
  7. If you can afford it.....G-Loomis 7' 6" FS904IMX 'Flippin Stick' any good smooth (Shimano) reel with some horsepower will work for this technique. JMHO Ronnie
  8. KU, I just built myself a split grip spiral wrapped MB844 IMX with a red maple real seat and it is sweeeet. I will fish with it for the first time at Fork next week. My suggestion would be to buy one of the closeout blanks from mud hole and the cheapest guides and real seat you can find. Most everything about building a rod is pretty mechanical and if you are good at measuring and details you will do fine glueing up handles, etc. I would practice applying epoxy to the thread on a cheap rod before I worked on a Loomis blank. For me this is the only part that really required experience. It's not rocket science but if you practice this part you will be glad you did. When I started, I bought a lot of real cheap blanks (8 blanks for $20) and the cheapest components I could get on ebay and wrapped 3 rods and threw them away. Total cost was maybe $25 or $30. This allowed me to build my first real fishing rod with a lot of confidence. I also learned a lot from books, rodbuilding.org, etc. Take your time and make some mistakes on a junk rod, then when you build that G-Loomis dream rod, it will be perfect. You cannot buy a better rod than you can make. Learn about spiral wrapped rods before you build a baitcaster. Let me know if I can be of any help to you. Ronnie
  9. Hey Dominick, I know you are excited about the trip, but don't leave without me. I can't go untill Friday. LOL Ronnie
  10. That's an interesting perspective. The Curado is a great reel, but I have never heard the Chronarch 50mg called a lighter version of the Curado. The 50Mg has a lighter spool and a magnesium frame. It's 1.5 ounces lighter and is superior to the Curado in almost every respect. Especially for casting lighter baits. I have fished with both the Curado and the 50 Mg and there is no comparison. These two reels are in a different class. The only reason to choose the Curado is it's less expensive. Ronnie
  11. Hey Matt, Sounds like good news on the job front! I hope all that business stuff doesn't keep you from being at the Fork next week. It would be great to meet you. BTW, them big ole basses in those pictures......I WANT ME ONE OF THOSE! Leaving the East coast on Friday............ Ronnie
  12. I have a CR722 GLX. I fish it with a Chronarch 50 mg. It's amazing. JMHO Ronnie

Try it! Ronnie
  14. I just bought a new GLX Dropshot rod with recoil guides and I am skeptical. G Loomis has never dissapointed me, but I will make a report on these guides when I have fished them for a while. Ronnie
  15. Keith, Awesome work as usual. Looking forward to seeing it in person at Fork. Ronnie
  16. I got my BassResource.com window stickers for the bassbus today and they are freakin AWESOME! Thanks Craig! I will sport them proudly on the bassbus. Ronnie
  17. Title of THE quickly passes on after you have fished with a Pixy, then THE becomes the ex-THE Ronnie. I hear ya Raul, I've never fished a Pixy, but they both seem to be out Vinnie's price range. He would probably be better off with a spinning rig for finesse fishing in his price range. I don't know of a baitcaster that would be considered 'finesse' that would also fish jigs & crankbaits, but I don't know too much. Ronnie
  18. I can't comment on the FGR rods. Have never used one. I have a 7' 6" G-Loomis FS904 IMX 'Flippin Stick'. It's an awesome flippin stick and will fish frogs like a dream. 2 or 3 extra pounds of slop with your fish is no problem for this rod to handle. It's very strong. With 50 or 65lb braid you can retrieve your fish and the lilly pads she's wrapped up with. JMHO Ronnie
  19. Great report Bud, I too, will be curious to hear how it fishes through the season. Ronnie
  20. I'm still holding to my plan to pick you up at the airport next Thursday, just in case you can work it out. Ronnie
  21. WELCOME Michbass, Check out this article and then read some others in the article section. It will answer most of your questions. http://bassresource.com/beginner/beginning_fishing.html Ronnie
  22. 6'-8' deep with Lots of timber. My favorite. I voted #2. Ronnie
  23. WELCOME to the board! The Shimano Chronarch 50 MG is THE finesse baitcaster. IMHO Ronnie
  24. As for the RI C.A.S.T. tourney. Are you kidding! It would be awesome if that would work out. Let me know Avid. Ronnie
