  1. A 8.4 & 8.9 lb I've caught both where just a hair over 25", so I agree with above girth has allot to do with this.
  2. 8.9 lbs 6" Injected G2 Lunker Punker Northern California Lake
  3. I have a Wilderness Commander 120 and a 12' Hobie Pro Angler with no extra mods done other than a rod holder and fish finder. Love fishing out of both even though I use the Pro Angler the most. My wife enjoys coming along just to kayak and relax on the bank nearby while I fish, so I got her a Wilderness Tarpon 100 and a 12' Hobie Pro Angler. She also loves calling out I see a big bass right here come over and try and catch it, lol!! Time out on the water fishing and my wife happy is priceless!! Here' a few picture of the kayak and my storage set up!
  4. Hi Deep, I haven't really checked sink rate on the 200 S-Waver. On these I just do a count down which normally is anywhere from a 15 in shallower water to a 40 count in deeper (the fish I posted above were on a 20 count and one hit on a light twitch before I started the retrieve and the other right after I started retrieve). We have lots of timber, so with the treble hooks I haven't let them hit bottom and been lucky getting it back several times already. I use the Weedless 68 and Weedless 8" Hudds for deeper water since I can work them over timber.
  5. I use both the 168 and 200 and like them. I prefer the 200 better and here's a couple caught on the 200! You can't beat the price also if you just want to try swimbaits when starting out!!
  6. Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  7. Here's a couple things I've have seen on Duck Swimbaits by Trap Bass Baits Duck Jr!
  8. PB caught 10/20/13 on 6" Injected Lunker Punker is was 8.9 lb., 25 ”long and 17.25” girth. I've also learned to hold them up differently since that time before anyone says anything and it was released.
  9. On another forum someone said "I would challenge the California BASS and TBF to get the ball rolling on Clear Lake", so I'll post it here also. It makes sense someone from one of these groups would help lead an effort anglers could get behind.
  10. I started with 6" Lunker Punkers, 178 S-wavers and 68 Weedless Hudds and caught lots of bass with just those which cover the water column. Then I moved up to 8" baits as soon as I got heavier rods for them along with a few more different swimbait I liked for my area like the 9" MS Slammer for example, lol!! It addicting when you get a 8.9 lb bass blow up on your 6" Lunker Punker!!
  11. So the question becomes how do fisherman help gear things towards a true comprise by improving habitat for the Hitch which would help the health of the lake overall, as well as other species. Has a group been formed fishermen can get behind? If the Hitch are adapting then adding habitat improvements would help enhance Hitch recovery more also I would think. More then likely they see no Hitch in creeks and say they are declining and of course the drought adds to all that also. I also live in farther north and haven't fished the Delta or Clear Lake much for the quieter lakes and rivers near me, but don't the Salmon and Steelhead use the Delta water? They're protected and should help protect the water rights shouldn't they, so they can't do that? I mean if a hidden political agenda is behind this by having different angling groups unite. Salmon, Trout and Steelhead groups have worked towards improvements, but until now their hasn't been much need to protect the bass. Well I'm getting tired and have to get up early, so enough for now and hope this makes sense! The reason I ask these questions is if you read the link on the last paragraph you want to help make sure controlling invasive species doesn’t become the main focus IMHO, but the last thing since restoration would help the whole lake more benefiting everything IMHO. http://www.biologicaldiversity.org/news/press_releases/2014/clear-lake-hitch-08-07-2013.html
  12. This is what I'd do and by night I include dusk to dawn. Some of the best fishing happens before anyone else even starts their day, it's peaceful and clam. Also if no shoreline get a float tube or kayak if allowed.
  13. LOL, good luck and hope you catch a bunch!!
  14. For that price you can't go wrong IMO!
  15. Yes couple hours before sun are good. I meant both dusk and dawn by saying night. Should have maybe worded it differently, LOL!!
  16. They suggested allot of good tackle already above, but I would hit it at night when the Bass may be more willing also starting with top water baits!
  17. There is a thread on another well known forum on is "Clear Lake in trouble" and well known and respected folks (including Matt Allen) posting about anglers unifying over this to make sure nothing goes south while protecting the Clear Lake Hitch, since the Bass are considered a "voracious predators" of Hitch that congregate at the mouth of tributary stream during spawning season the group has said in its petition to protect the species!! Remember the Bass is a nonnative species in all this which could swing decisions against it saving a native species, so hopefully everyone is at the table to makes sound decisions like habitat improvements/protects for the Hitch, etc. versus controlling or negatively impact species like Bass IMHO!! It was also mentioned in the thread that Lake County believes grapes are their future and fisherman and their loud boats are viewed as a nuisance! I don't live to close to Clear Lake, but it if you get the groups together that want to protect the Hitch, don't like the fishing boats, etc. things could go south quickly for the Bass since I'm sure allot of the fisherman may not live in that area to vote, IMHO!
  18. Try the 8" Savage Line Thru Trout and it's in the summer clearance section for $9.99, so you can't beat that price to try it out! On orders over $50.00 you get free shipping also! http://www.*.com/Savage-Gear-3D-Line-Thru-Trout-p/savagegear-3dlttrout.htm
  19. I have the several Super Duty's, a couple of Tournament Pro's and a BB1 and real happy with them all. I don't do all the above recommendations above, but a lot of them I do do.
  20. I use the Super Duty reels with 25# P-Line PF on Dobyns 807 & 806 rods in all 3 gear ratios for swimbaits up to the 8" Hudds which are 4.8 oz.. I also throw the 9" MS Slammer, 200 S-Waver, 230 Gan Craft, Lunker Punker etc. I know a little more line capacity would be idea/recommended for swimbaits, but it still works nicely and after spool gets down to a certain point I change my line out so it doesn't get to old. I also have the Tournament Pro for all purpose along with a BB1! I really like these reels and Lew's has been real good in customer service!!
  21. I wouldn't get locked into just hard baits and make sure you cover the water column (top, middle and bottom) and get good at a few before getting to many without really learning them 1st. Go with a Lunker Punker or MS Slammer for topwater, a S-waver and Hudds or Savage Line thru which have different sink rates and are pretty universal baits and reasonably priced IMO! This way you can also get whats good for your area as you go! I use P-Line PF 25 lb test which handles even the heaviest Hudds at 4.8 oz. good luck!
  22. I've almost landed everything I've hooked with the line thru and definitely a lower landing percentage without the line thru, but as mentioned above you need the right gear for bigger baits! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/137644-8-savage-gear-3d-line-thru-trout-review/
  23. Trout colored swimbaits just work whether you have trout in your lake or pond or not!! It's worked out like that for me also even in a smaller lake with the only other fish in it is Bluegill, then frogs, and crayfish, but the 6" & 8" rainbow swimbaits get hammered there also BIG TIME with!!!! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/137644-8-savage-gear-3d-line-thru-trout-review/
  24. I fished my 8" Floating Savage Gear 3D Line Thru Trout I got for doing the review and liked it! The only thing on the floating is, I wish it had a harness for a bottom hook because I had 2 fish (1 nice 5+ lb. fish) bite lightly at the back half and not aggressively at that, and a hook on the bottom towards the back would have gotten those fish! I think I read the new model is coming with a harness thou which would be sweet if it does!! Does anyone know if they harness talk is true or not?
  25. Nice review! I have fished the 2 sinking models and done well with them!!
