  1. The line guide is stuck on the left side. Since it's messed up I might as well just use it to try to figure out how to repair reels. Only one way to learn, and that's through trial and error.
  2. I was actually better at casting with braid. Maybe I'm just odd.
  3. If you switch to braid you won't have to change line all the time, even if you do backlash a lot.
  4. I would love to land my first smallie, but I don't know where to catch them. Nice bass, congrats.
  5. I bought some Mardi Gras colored super flukes as suggested by someone. I wasn't sure what color to get and green finesse worms used to be what I caught so many bass on, hence why I went with the Mardi Gras colored. I've never fished super flukes, so does anyone have any tips?
  6. If you turn the magnetic brake up it'll be less likely to backlash. Turn it down when you start getting comfortable with your abilities. Your spool should be almost full with line.
  7. Maybe so, but it gives you something to do and you know your reel isn't going to fail you while you're out on the water.
  8. I'm not a fan of rain. Enough to keep the land hydrated good is good enough for me. I hate it when it rains every day though. It gets beyond annoying.
  9. It's been ridiculous. Haven't been able to do much because every time you go to do something it's coming a flood outside. Lol
  10. We don't have it as bad as Texas, but it has been raining every day here. Finally talked my dad into going fishing and got to make about three casts before getting soaked. Gonna try again in the morning, but wish we could've fished more today.
  11. It's between a jig and a watermelon seed trick worm.
  12. I buy cheap line so I change it out quite often, just to be safe.
  13. I learned on a XR70 when I was eight with my dad riding on the back. After a few laps around the yard he let me go. I wish I could get another bike so I could start racing again, but I don't want to sell my quad to get one.
  14. Didn't clean it, just oiled. I'll try to get to it tomorrow if I'm not too busy. Thanks for the input.
  15. The line guide on my Pflueger sometimes sticks on the right side. I oiled the worm gear (I believe that's what it's called), and it stopped for a while, but it's starting to do it again. Any quick fix for this problem? Don't have the funds for another reel and I won't for a while so it's pretty critical that this one functions until I get a job.
  16. Slipknot.
  17. Well, I have decided that proper form/technique is one of the most important things that you can practice and try to master in basically anything you do. When I got my form down in motocross, I got faster. When I got my form and technique down in shooting, I got more accurate. I'm working on my technique when casting, and I'm casting further with less brakes. Hopefully before long I'll be able to move down to two brakes.
  18. I haven't fished one but I got the opportunity to cast one in my yard. Not bad, but if you have the money to buy better then I'd suggest doing so unless you just want a beater reel to use until you decide to upgrade. I couldn't give you any word on the reliability.
  19. Got out in the yard for some practice. I done a little casting practice and then decided to set up a bucket to do some pitching. I done better than I expected with the pitching, even though I only made it in the bucket once. I was happy that I even got the lure to go anywhere. The last time I tried pitching the lure only went about three feet. I had the bucket set up about 10 feet away, give or take. Not far, but I'm just trying to get a feel for it for now. Trying to learn the technique and work on accuracy. I got the bright idea to take all the brakes off and do a cast to see how bad I would backlash and I ended up having to cut all the line off the reel and respool. Not going to cast again without brakes until I get enough practice. Lol
  20. I've tried looking up videos on it before and they didn't explain much. You explained it much better. Thanks for the help. Hopefully it won't rain tomorrow and I can hit the pond for a good practice session and maybe a few fish!
  21. Since you brought up pitching I have a question. How do you set your reel up and what technique do you use for flipping and pitching? I've never learned it. I'm a bank fisherman, so pitching usually isn't beneficial, but sometimes I see a spot that seems like it'd be easier to pitch into.
  22. I'm actually pretty accurate. I lost some accuracy since changing my technique, but I'll probably get it back fairly fast.
  23. I used to only be able to cast with one hand. Now when I do it I feel like I'm going to throw my rod and reel in the water. It isn't worth losing money to feel cooler by casting one handed in my opinion. Lol
  24. If Abu had different handle knobs on their reels I'd like them a lot more. I don't own either, so I won't be much help, but I never hear people brag about the Orra. It's quite the opposite with the PQ.
  25. May hit the pond tomorrow if it isn't raining. It'll give me some practice and maybe I'll get to catch something while I'm there. I've been wanting to go the past few days, but the last few times I've went I haven't caught anything and it just hasn't felt worth the time to go. Mainly because I have to clear my line and lure of weeds every time I reel in back in.
