  1. I recently went on a fishing trip to the South Platte river between Spinney mountain reservoir and Eleven Mile reservoir(gold medal water) in Colorado. My dad and I caught a couple of small brown trout. The fish had extremely vibrant colors and were very pretty. I believe that they were wild, but I am not sure. So I assume that wild trout are harder to trick into striking, but is there a difference in fighting, average size, coloration, and so on between wild and stocked trout?
  2. How about just using flouro in the spool?(the easy casting kind)
  3. I am going to be fishing for stream trout. I am thinking about getting a 5 foot UL rod. Should i have a fast action for the big ones or moderate so I don't rip the hook out of the smaller guys. I am planning on meeting in the middle with a Moderate fast action rod but im curious if it lacks the backbone to set the hook on a big one.
  4. Is it a good idea to use an ultralight rod for 20"+ wild stream trout? I want a new rod and am looking to go UL but I'm just worried about my rod snapping. Would an average $60ish ultra light hold up?
  5. A Quantum TRAX spinning combo is 60 bucks and pretty light and fairly sensitive for the price, its a pretty smooth 7 bearing reel too.If you spend about $10-20 less on the baitcast reel and more on the rod, or just save a bit more for the rod, they will compliment each other better. You might consider buying the rod n reel as a combo, you usually save some money and the reel and rod work very well together
  6. im looking at the st Croix triumph (5 foot six, ul, 2 piece) and the shimano convergence(5 foot, ul, 1 piece). I have heard problems with durability on the triumph, but the convergence is much cheaper and Im not sure if it is very high quality. I want this for stream trout ( here in CO, stream trout does not mean small trout, just small stream). Im on a budget and 100 is really my limit, Whitch do you recommend?
  7. I'm looking at a 5 foot six ul st croix triumph for Stream trout and small panfish. Does anyone have this rod either for trout or think it would work well for them?
  8. Im thinking of buying a 5 foot 6 ultra light 2 piece stcroix triumph to upgrade from the old Shakespeare starter kit rod (all that is left of that combo). Is this a good rod for stream trout? I want an ul because I had a light rod and had trouble casting a 1/32 oz powerbait atomic teaser jig to the other side of the stream. I would also use it for sunfish in my local pond. Im also on a bit of a budget, 90 is about my max.Is this rod a good idea?
  9. What types of fish do you chase and how. What is your preferred rod, reel, line, bait, type of spot( river lake, pond, ocean, stream, aquarium, beach, pier, etc.) and method (cast and wait, slow retrieve, fast retrieve, fly fishing, etc.) I'm just curious what other people like.
  10. The spinner is something unfamiliar to the fish and when you rip it by them quickly, they react fast and attack it, its a reflex.
  11. What length and power is best for stream trout? I fish a lot of gold medal streams so there is a large range of sizes (anywhere from tiny brookies to huge browns). Do I need a flexible or stiff rod? I use a lot of light spinners and jigs and spoons.
  12. Do you recommend using sprays or sauces in the bag to keep the flavor and scent
  13. Jim Mac I'm talking about 2 kayaks or one canoe
  14. I bought a mepps aglia size 3 spinner. The website says this is great for bass. I haven't had a bite on it yet, anyone have any input on techniques or if I'm just wasting my time.

  16. Can I throw my soft plastic baits back in the bag with the rest of them or can I only use each one once.
  17. My dad and I are thinking about getting 2 kayaks or a canoe for fishing in bugger lakes. Which is better for two people fishing?
