I own a few Mojo Bass older models as well as a new Bass X. I also have two E6Xs. Of the two brands, I am a St Croix person (have a couple of Legend Extremes too -- best rods on earth!); but the E6X is definitely a higher-end rod than the Bass X. If price is equal and the determining factor, buy the G Loomis. You'll be very happy with it. If, however, you're a die-hard St Croix person, the Bass X will do the trick too. The new Mojos are worth looking into as well!

580 is their newest lens...designed to block more yellow. The G stands for "Glass." You'll also see 580P -- or Plastic. I have a pair of the 400G -- they are a step below the 580, but they are fantastic. The glass is scratch resistant and easy to clean, but they weigh more than the plastic lenses. The plastic, of course scratches easier but are a lot cheaper. If you sight fish, you'll want the green mirror. The blue is designed for off shore -- or get both!

Sent in two fish a few weeks ago; nothing listed on the leaderboard. No fish have been certified for my state, so I know it has nothing to do with the size of the fish. Called Brad's number listed at the bottom of the leaderboard -- number disconnected. Tried the 1-800 number on the Bigbassworldchampionship.com site -- recording saying the system is too busy. Is the tournament still going on? Anyone have any information?

I have the REVO MGX (not the extreme) for weightless worms. It took a bit to adjust, but once I did, it worked very well. Very nice reel.

Bought 2 E6X 847C CBR Crankbait Rods ...saved 95 bucks!

My son got me a St Croix Legend Xtreme Spinning rod and a Shimano Symetre 2500FL reel! The rod is a 6-10, ML, XF. Can't wait to get a nice smallie on it early next spring! I also bought the wife a new Legend Xtreme Casting rod...6-8, M, XF. She loves it.

If you're not a pro and want a chance to win some good money without having to spend a lot on equipment, it's definately worth entering. Since this was the BBWC's first year in quite some time, I believe participation was probably down a bit. But, that low turnout won't last once the word gets out and it keeps going.

This is the formula I use too...seems to be pretty close. Measuring the girth is very important and doesn't take all that much time to do.

That weight assumes the girth is 12.18 inches....the fish looks quite a bit fatter than that...at least 15 is my guess. With that girth, the weight jumps to 6.48 pounds!

I built a livewell using PVC pipe, green plastic mesh, zip-ties, and noodls for floatation. The lid is a little bigger than the frame so it sits on top of the noodles -- I tie a string around it to keep it closed if I have a fish in it. Works great, except it has a lot of drag and makes me work hard to tow it in my Kayak. Still looking at ways to reduce drag, but overall, I'm happy.

Back when I was a whopping 10 years old, I was fishing with my Mom and Stepdad at Toledo Bend. We were in a 12 foot lake boat -- my Mom in the middle seat, me at the bow, and my stepdad at the stern driving the boat. The water began to boil with feeding bass and the excitement for a boy of my age was more than I could stand. I had a triple-treble hook top water plug on my pole and began throwing to the middle of the boil as fast as I could. Bass on every cast....it was something i'll never forget. After about three bass, I went for the forth...wound up and flung the plug as far as I could.....but when i followed through, I had nothing on the end of my line. What? Where did my plug go? Turns out when I wound up to throw, I didn't look behind me. The plug hit the back of my Moms hair and when I threw it, all three treble hooks buried into the back of her head. Thankfully, she was not looking at me! Needless to say, the fishing was done, my Mom went to the local doctor who cut the plug out of her head, and I was banned from throwing plugs for the forseeable future. I'm 55 now and that incident still sticks in my mind. Not the way to end a great day of bass fishing!
