  1. I always have heard that Mcpherson has some big ones in there. I would like to head up there soon. Seen a guy pull a nice 5lber punching jig through the moss. KDWP says there are 7lbers in there. Has the highest lunker rating on their list as well.
  2. Well I took the advise to head to SE Kansas got back yesterday afternoon. Was able to fish 2 good mornings and one evening at Bone Creek. I am glad it was suggested we didn't catch a lot but the quality of the fish was awesome. I put 2 in the boat that tied my PB both at 18" and yesterday morning I got a new PB no monster by many, but being fairly new too bass fishing it was a monster to me. 19" @ 2.84lbs. It turned out being one of the best fishing trips Ive ever had. Lost one at the side of the boat that sure looked bigger than that one too almost cried decided she didn't want to get in the boat as I reached down to grab her.
  3. Well ready to rock n roll! Heading out early a.m. headed for bone creek for 2 days wish me luck!
  4. Beautiful fish!Congrats man!
  5. Thanks for the info bluebaasser86. Guess I'm going straight to bone creek then. Both kids are very good casters and the 16 year old can put the boat in the water decently now. 500 acres I should be able to cover all the shorelines. What's the most productive side of the lake?
  6. Ya I agree lose the swival. It affec the action of the bait. I never use swivals only takes a minute to tie a good knot.
  7. Well since my last post on largest bass caught on public waters I'm heading to Big Hill and Bone creek on Thursday. Taking advice of hitting some SE Kansas lakes from peeps on the forum. I'll probably head that way Wed after work with my 2 boys. So any advice on these lakes would be greatly appreciated. Thinking I'll fish big hill Thursday and Bone creek Friday. Do any of these 2 lakes have electric hookups going to need some power to charge trolling motors? At worst I'll take my generator.
  8. Congrats! I need to get me a new PB im due.
  9. Holy smokes those are some beautiful fish! Great Pics
  10. Thats awsome you donate your time to help out veterans, sounds like a very cool program. Thats a memory your son will have forever and thats a darn good bass!
  11. What lakes were these caught in Bluebasser? Wondering how far away from Wichita these lakes are. Thanks for the response glad to see there are big ones out in public waters here in Kansas.
  12. Fairly new to bass fishing and live around the Wichita area. I can't seem to find any fish over 3 pounds anywhere on public waters. Seems like they are all fished hard or they have large numbers of 15" and under. Biggest fish so far was caught at Butler last summer and was 18.5" and biggest this year 17". So just curious what other Kansans have caught on public waters.
  13. ya I know they have some big flatheads in there....might not be wasting a day of fishing when I can go somewhere that has better chances of more and bigger fish.
  14. Anyone ever fish for large mouth at Wellington Lake? I was talking to some guys at the dock yesterday and they told me their in there, but know one ever fishes for them. I see nothing in Kansas Wildlife and Parks fishing updates about bass, however I did see the creel sign at the ramp and it said the limit was 2 at 15" per day. Anyone?
  15. Thats a nice bass jgordon! I hit butler last weekend and had an awesome day we caught over a dozen and all but 2 were less than 15" with the 2 biggest at 17" pretty good morning.
  16. I have had best luck lately on jig and pig, but I wouldn't be affraid to throw plastics and spinners too.
  17. Been to Butler twice this year think I caught 1 on both trips combined, but that was about a 3 weeks ago. Went to Mcpherson last Thursday, Eureka on Friday, and Cowely on Saturday. Had the best luck at Eureka. Caught 3 at Mcpherson and 1 at Cowely. Fished in the rain at Eureka but did decent. First time I have ever been to Eureka and Cowely both very nice lakes, but I liked all the docks at Eureka.
  18. Yes the reservoir. Why? Hope it still has water in it. Went last fall which was my first time had a blast hoping for a repeat it was extremely low though.
  19. Woke the kids up this morning and hit butler for first time this year. Got there just before 7am 15mph winds 50℉ and water temp was 61℉. Heading to Wilson on 15th of May hoping to have more luck. Anyone else able to make it to butler this year yet? If so you have any luck?
  20. That's a nice fish man! Looking forward to this season. Congrats!
  21. If I would have to guess I would say 1-1.5 with a few 2-3lb here and there, but most of the time its between 1 and 1.5.
  22. No music on my boat. Ranger didn't come with it when I bought it, but if I did it would be just about anything since I listen to it all. Maybe some Metallica or Yelawolf or Josh Turner. However I have a huge list of wants for the boat and that's at dead bottom of the list. Figured this topic would end up pretty wild. LOL
  23. Wow that's awesome Chris sounds like a pretty good day on the water. I'm pretty green to bass fishing what's the ned rig? I only caught 3 smallys and they all came on a buzz bait and I caught my striper on a football jig with a rage craw for a trailer. Maybe I need to hit Melvern this year. I'm really thinking I will not need to winterize my boat its looking like a year round toy I purchased. lol
  24. This new Lew's I picked up is much more smoother than the old black max. I definitely will be adding another Lew's reel to my equipment list. I don't have a lot of experience with rods, but the reviews were pretty good on the St. Croix Mojo rods. Over all I couldn't be more happier with my new set up and the move to braid seems to working out great for me. Thinking about hitting Butler again real soon. Its the closest lake to me that's worth a darn and its a pretty good one. Ya I have made that mistake being new to bait caster as well no brake equals one big headache, but it only takes one cast to realize that mistake.
