  1. They'd eat it up!
  2. I have yet to catch a walleye (lost one through the ice yesterday) but I plan to get my first this year. My favorite other than bass right now is yellow perch on Lake Erie. Just gotta be prepared for the occasional smallie, white bass and sheephead. Last time out we were haulin in 12" yellows all day!
  3. We would shoot these all the time in western Michigan while bowfishing for carp. They sure do wiggle a lot when you hit them in the side. We would either leave the carcasses in the lake (completely legal) or take them with us and throw them in the woods to feed the deer.
  4. I just picked up a 6'2" m cabelas prodigy casting rod. It's rated for baits 1/4-1 oz. gonna be a great top water and jerk bait rod
  5. I ended up getting a 6'6" ml st croix premier.
  6. going through all my tackle today, and decided I to get rid of the 5'6" light rid I've been using for perch fishing. I figured I could double up and get 1 rod to use for perch in Lake Erie and drop-shotting and other light finesse styles for bass fishing. Something like a 6'6"-7' ml fast/xfast should do the trick I think. Am I crazy to try this or does it seem feasible? I would spool a 20 size pflueger president with 6# fluoro and slap it on there. Now the other question is what rod under $130
  7. i'm planning on heading to cabelas this weekend so i will check those sales out!
  8. I stumbled upon the orra winch combo, $109 at Wally World. The rod is rated for 3/8-3/4. This is looking like it may be the way to go.
  9. Would a mh handle the dt6 and squarebills alright? Should I be looking for a "lighter" medium heavy (or conversely a "heavier" medium)?
  10. I'm lookin for a good combo to throw mainly dt6s, dt10s, and possibly squarebills as a bonus. I'd like to keep it under $200 since I'm saving up for a kayak. I have my eye on the H2O ethos 7'mm and was thinking I could throw an orra winch on it and have a nice setup. Any opinions or suggestions?
  11. I'll have to look around at for that clearance section.
  12. What city gets that Field and Stream? I live in Ypsi, so I'm only 20 minutes from Cabelas. BPS on the other hand is an hour away, both the GLC and Ohio locations.
  13. I picked up some clearance dt6s and dt10s, and some full price shadow raps
  14. I've been spending some time swapping out hooks on my treble hook lures while I wait for the ice to melt. I was wondering how you all set up your spooks for the best action. Currently, I have a couple rattling spooks with a 1/0 KVD treble on the back and a size 2 on the front so the back 1/3 of the bait is sumberged, a little more than out of the box, but less than my stock one knocker spook. I noticed my super spook jr's barely submerged in the back, so I also added a bigger hook to drop the rear down a bit more. How do you like your spooks to sit in the water to maximize their action?
  15. I took an interest when I saw footage of Jimmy Houston nailing largemouth while fishing 1/8 oz roadrunners targeting crappie. Needless to say I made room in my jig box for these and will definitely be trying out the 1/4 oz ones I have.
  16. Never hurts to try! Now I know what I'm gonna eat for lunch today.
  17. i picked up a couple of these yesterday as an impulse buy in a red craw pattern. I've heard great things about Matzuo's hooks from the local walleye fisherman, so I figured I'd give this lure a shot. Anybody fished these?
  18. I like P line fluoroclear. It's cheaper than pure fluoro, and has benefits of fluorocarbon and nylon line. What's not to love?
  19. I have the 1.0 Veritas rods in 7' m, 7'3" mh, and 7'6" mh (all casting). I have not tried the 2.0 versions, but they are supposedly power rated more accurately than the 1.0. That being said, the 7'3" mh has more backbone than the 7'6", so I would recommend maybe getting 2 or 3 first, then going from there to see what other lengths and power rating you want based on those 2 or 3.
  20. I'd say get a Veritas and a revo sx or stx
  21. Frabill has some decent inline combos for like $35. I've been using a UL with 3lb test and its held up just fine for panfish.
  22. I have a 6' medium spinning rod that I use for wacky rigs and dropshotting. It hauled in a lot of bass last year.
  23. Scored a 6'10" mhf crucial spinnerbait rod for $63, plus a dt6, couple bitsy bugs, trilene 100% fluoro and sufix performance braid. Total bill was $88. I'm a happy camper!
  24. I hadn't counted, but my best estimate would have to be around 30 days in 2014. I'm at 1 so far for 2015. I'm new though, and the lady isn't quite yet used to it. We're young too, so I have some years to get an increasing trend going
