New Shadow Rap
This is the Bud color in a deep version, up close. I was really impressed with this color whenever I saw it in person. I'm curious if putting a hook size smaller on these would make them suspend or slow rise?

New Shadow Rap
I picked up 4 of the regular and 2 of the deep versions yesterday from Field and Stream. I must say they look impressive in person. High quality, colors look great. and the factory hooks don't need replaced. Based on the action I've seen of it on Youtube, I'm sure it will catch fish. Last spring, I did really well on the BX Minnow. I like how this lure is essentially the same concept, but with 3 hooks and it's a slow sinker.

Rod Length With Deep/heavy Cranks
There's a different rod for throwing a 10XD than there is for throwing even say a 6XD. The 10XD is really going to require a specific rod that will most likely only be practical for such a large crankbait (or swimbaits). If you're using a medium power, you're probably not going to throw anything bigger than a DT6 (ideally). If you plan on throwing a DT10-16/5XD/6XD, I would recommend a MH power rod. Anything bigger than those lures, I'd suggest a H to XH power rod. For reference, here's my current deep cranking rods, what they're rated for, and what I use them for: St Croix AVX70MHM (3/8 - 1oz) - DT10/14, 5XD, 6XD, Mag Warts, Dream Classic, FF Shad, Little Johns, Arashi Deep, larger rattle traps Dobyns Champion 765CB (1/4 - 1oz) - DT16, 6XD, DD22, BD8, R2S Goon, DC300-400 St Croix AV70HM (1/2 - 1 3/8oz) - DD22, BD8, 6XD, 8XD (if I had some), Little John DD, R2S Goon, DC400

Calling All Who Are Good At Deciphering Topo Maps!
Being a big walleye fishermen, a lot of those deep drop offs are calling for a jig with a live minnow or leach. In the cooler weather, I wouldn't worry about the DO in the water. The fish will still be deeper than 15'. Especially the walleye.

Red And White Crankbait?
Kinda shows that most of todays lures are geared towards catching the fishermen, and not the fish

Most around here are $50-90 yearly. Then again I know another one that has a $5 fee, but they only do 3 events a year.

How To Verify A Record And Keep It Alive?
Those of you suggesting putting a potential STATE RECORD largemouth in a 5 gallon bucket and keeping it alive for 30-40 minutes to get it weighed are out of your mind. The OP lives in New York. The New York state record Largemouth was 11.4 pounds and was 25.5" long. You're not going to fit a fish that big in a 5 gallon bucket. And as for saying Pennsylvania doesn't grow large bass either is the same story. The state record largemouth here in PA is 11.3 pounds. You might say it now that you would rather throw that fish back, but I have a feeling that if you caught an 11lb + bass in a northern state, you'd probably be taking it in to get certified at any cost. Long Rods
I can imagine putting a 10.5 foot rod in a 17 foot boat would be a bit tricky.

Why You Need To Place An Order For Fishing Tackle Right Now!!!
Around here, the only rush of fishermen you see once spring rolls around are the local trout fishermen who go trout fishing for the first week of the season, and then they never go near the water again the rest of the year.

I can't recommend the Avid rods enough. Like you, I also like the Crucials though too.
