  1. That's a great article! Is the body of the spook solid enough to simply move the line tie into the center of the nose without doing any damage? Would Krazy glue be a good idea (to secure the line tie and to seal the other hole)?
  2. It takes some practice but once you get used to rigging them, you'll get them straight every time. Watch a couple of YouTube videos on how to rig them, that might help too.
  3. That isn't too much weight at all, you'll be fine with that. If you find the flukes get torn up too much, try a weighted hook from Owner with the screw lock, i find that helps my basis last longer.
  4. You could also wrap some braid in a figure 8 around the line tie to close it off, sort of like is done with this one and the red band:
  5. Thanks for doing the legwork for me, much appreciated!
  6. For anyone who has a Daiwa Aird 2000SH, is the line roller bushing upgradeable to a bearing? If so, is there a tutorial or at least some parts numbers to swap out...? Thanks in advance!!!
  7. Well, the monkey has been trying his best to trick me into making purchases I didn't need. Sad thing is that he succeeded in convincing me that I needed a bunch of gear! Here's what I remember buying the last few months... Daiwa Aird 2000SH, Daiwa Tatula 7'1" MLXS spinning rod, 2 Daiwa Ardito travel rods, a custom spybait casting rod, 3 bags of original trick worms, 4 bags of salted trick worms, 10 bags of flukes, 2 packages of Keitech's, some shakey head hooks, a partial TD-Z 100ML US Trail (and the parts to complete it), a J-Dream spool (from Japan!), some YT Fusion HD+ bearings (also from Japan!), a partial TD-Z 103ML, a partial TD-Ito 103HL, 4 reels tuned by Ian Shields (Steez, TD-Ito, Airy Red, J-Dream), a few spools of Yo-Zuri hybrid to try out, some Sunline Sniper, and I'm sure I missed a bunch of other stuff (selective memory in case I'm interrogated...). I will not be taking pictures in order to ensure there isn't any tangible evidence (again, in case of interrogation...).
  8. Do you shrink the heat shrink tubing onto the Senko before you fish it or do you find the right size tubing that will slightly compress the Senko just by slipping it on...? Thanks!
  9. I use a snap for crankbaits, spooks, jerkbaits, poppers and lipless cranks and I always take the split ring off. I wouldn't use a snap swivel, just a normal snap will be your best bet. I'm using 20# snaps right now but might go up to something stouter.
  10. Thanks for all the responses gents, I appreciate it. I shall fish them with careful abandon, LOL!
  11. Well, I ordered the 7' MF and 7'6" MHF casting rods and got a hold of them today. I tried to assemble them but there were fairly large gaps at the ferrules, most larger than 1/2". For those of you who own one of these, have you had the same experience? Thanks!
  12. Do you still have your Aird spinning reel? If so, could I ask a favor...? I'm trying to find out what the drag stack looks like. Could you take it apart and take a picture of it for me? I'd really appreciate it, if you're comfortable with pulling it apart that is. Thanks in advance!
  13. Have you asked on this site: http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php? If not, ask there and see what they say.
  14. Since Pixy's are practically free on that auction site right now, you really can't go wrong picking up a used PX68 to compare with an SV spool in your Ito. +3 to Bait Monkey for enabling purchases which can be justified since you *may* only need one of them after the comparison ;-)
  15. You could always check the buy and sell sections of the various online forums if you don't mind buying used. Going by that auction site, you won't find one much less expensive than the one you found already unless you're buying used.
  16. Stained water is where I have had luck with a pink lure (both a senko and a fluke).
  17. I fish super flukes primarily weightless with a 3/0 owner light ewg screw lock on a 7 ' MF Kistler helium LTA (the original ones with the blue guide inserts) with a Steez and an SV 105 spool with 20# 832 and a light fluoro leader. I don't suffer for distance and the combo is very light and I can place the bait extremely accurately, even for someone who doesn't fish very often. I haven't fished my small flukes yet, but when I duo it will be on a 6'6"MF spinning rod with 10# 832 and a 6# fluoro leader.
  18. I would say a fluke for a topwater miss and a senko or tube for something lower in the water column.
  19. Man, I need you to buy all of the rods I'm interested in! You give great feedback, I really appreciate it Paul. As soon as I have the funds, I'll be grabbing 2 of these. Thanks!!
  20. In hindsight, soft may have been the wrong word, you knew what I was getting at though. I'm going to have to get both of the 7 foot casting rods. Like you, I'd love to see them offer a ML in either spinning or casting too.
  21. I'll be getting my almost 3 year old started this summer, any advice on how to start her out? How do you guys handle water safety and ensuring she doesn't try to jump in the pond? Do you try to fish at the same time...? Thanks in advance!
  22. Is the tip fairly soft on the M casting Paul?
