2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
While making my resevation at Fishermans Cove Dan told me that "right act" is about to be repealed (he said it passed the house and senate and is waiting for Bush to sign it any day). What that means is that Southwest Airlines will be able to fly in to Love Field in Dallas. For those of us that are going to fly and have Southwest at their airport we should hold off on plane reservations until this comes about as it could save alot of $$$$$$

YIPEEEEEE :) Torre is coming back!!!!!!! Back on topic: We got us two good series coming up.......Go Mets and A's I think it will be really tough for either of the NL teams to overcome the Tigers or A's pitching staffs but then I thought the Yankees would be there so what do I know

Careful Bassmasta.....we may make that deal.....the Rangers are paying a big portion of A Rods salary....the Yanks are actually paying Jeter more than they are paying A Rod....the difference is coming out of the Rangers pocket....as great a player as he is he sure has choked in the playoffs for us......hey how about an even up trade..... A Rod for Pujols ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm still a little bitter.....go A's (after all they were our unofficial minor league team when they were in KC.....I remember when Billy Martin got sent there for getting Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford in trouble ;D) I'm gonna go with my NY brothers.......Go Mets all the way

OHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO ESPN is already reporting that Torre will be replaced by Lou Piniella........ Why don't they just see if they can bring Billy Martin back to life....... This is a very bad idea.....Lou is too hot headed for this team I'm still a fan of The Boss overall but sometimes you have to wonder

Hats off to the tigers and Leyland.....they took us to the woodshed and gave us an old fashioned butt whoopin The last thing we need to do is get rid of Torre...we just need to buy and develop some pitching and see if a deal can be worked for A Rod (I think that would be best for him and the Yanks)...this team is still a legit contender GMAN...a word of advice....the Yankees ain't worth your job..but if it helps tell your boss I said screw him if he can't take a joke ;D ;D ;D AND NOW FOR THE REST OF THE POST SEASON............. HEY MUDDY, HOW ABOUT OUR AMAZIN METS

Hats off to Verlander and Rogers............ It ain't over yet.....BUT......Hey Muddy....if we go out I'm gonna have to jump on the Amazins bandwagon with ya......guess its just a NY state of mind That bunch from the bay looks mighty good!

Senile ......you are exactly right.....only difference is I had already retired from little league ;D Another thing I remember is the Cards beating the Yanks in the 1964 WS....after that it was all downhill for the Yanks....CBS owned them and it showed.... I know everyone has an opinion on The Boss but when he bought them he sure turned it around......and this Yankee fan is grateful....I actually sat behind him at an exhibition game when the Yankees played our minor league team here in Nashville many moons ago (we were their AA club at the time....Mattingly was our star). He was really nice, spoke with everyone, signed all the autographs he was asked to all game long, answered questions, and acted just like he was one of us regular fans.

Bummer CJ......better go fishin to make you feel better about it :-/ Bassmasta....I'm not so sure the Yanks would be in big trouble under a cap....they have a great GM with an excellent scouting and farm system. The cap would require reloading consistently from a talented farm system. Steinbrenner would probably funnel the money into scouting and the farm system. Baseball is different from football or basketball in that they do not have colleges acting as their minor leagues and get to draft high level talent in a given order. The talent baseball drafts is very inexperienced and is international......the teams are the ones who develop the talent which IMHO is why a CAP in baseball would be a different animal. There is alot of talent out there that was traded..... young prospects going to non contenders for for high dollar vets going to contenders.. I would think with a cap the Yankees would look more like the teams of the 50's. Bottom line.....without high dollar free agents and big contract trades it gets down to who has the best scouts and farm system and the Yankees are right up there.

No prob senile, just glad I didn't offend you. I think LBH and his Beantown buddies will skip watching the WS so they can replay the DVD of the 2004 post season.....after all history shows it will be another 80 some years before it happens again ;D ;D ;D About that salary cap....lets see... we have Wang, Rivera, Posada, Cano, Jeter, Williams, Cabrera, Matsui (we are the 1st US team for him), and Phillips who we brought into the league. Think we'd still have a pretty good system under a cap. Say what you will about The Boss, he's competitive enough and willing to do what it takes to git er done. I beleive he would invest heavily in the farm system if thats what winning demanded in a different set of rules. I like the fact that he's willing to spend alot of it rather than sticking it all back in his pocket. I dunno about the Unit....been inconsistent and has that back thing goin on...may need that AARP disabilty insurance tonight

Senile1, your anylysis is certainly accurate, my comments were just some good natured bantering with GMAN, although as an avid Yankee fan it does seem this way at times As the title to the thread says....just letting a liitle trash fly around....my apologies for any offense
