Top shelf trout casting reel
Hmmmm.... Maybe I should come visit! We have some nice trout in the high lakes that can exceed 5# and then we have steelhead which are trout that live in the ocean and return to the rivers to spawn. They can reach 20+ pounds but average 6-10#. Nothing funner to catch then a red hot steelhead fresh from the ocean! They go absolutely ballistic and run all over the river going airborn trying to escape!

Top shelf trout casting reel
Will just be used for trout in the high lakes- My goal is 5# and i have come real close so if I spend the dough on this setup I will not give up until I have accomplished the mission! The conquest has a capacity of 50 yards which is more than enough for my application. They are not like a large trout (steel head) in a river which may ended taking you for a ride a few hundred feet downriver.

Trout Setup - Am I Crazy??
In an attempt to relive my youth I purchased the top of the line Zebco a few years ago. I think it was the omega. Used it once and it felt like it was full of rocks compared to any decent quality reel made these days. Sold it as I would never use it again. Buy a Tatula- capable of throwing light lures. I use one with 20# braid topped with 6# mono with no problems.

Top shelf trout casting reel
After 40 years of trout fishing it is time to treat myself to the best. Looking for the smoothest small baitcaster that is capable of throwing 1/4 oz spinners and spoons. I have my eye on Calcutta conquest BFS HG. Already own 6 tatulas and a chronarch MGL but i want to purchase one of the best.

Rainbow trout following your lures
try tipping your lure with a small piece of worm- often this will get the followers to commit.

High end trout casting rod?
Looking for a good upper end casting rod for throwing 1/4 oz spinners and spoons. I do have a G Loomis STR9000IMX which is an awesome all around rod but would prefer something a little lighter for throwing light gear. Reels are chronarch mgl and a tat sv.

Rain gear
Frabil F3 for warm weather, Stormr Stryker for the cold! Both excellent raingear and very durable. After 30 years of wearing every kind of rain gear while working in the forest it is nice to finally have the right gear for any weather!

Anyone install drag clicker on a Tatula?
No i also do not see the need for bass fishing but nothing like a singing drag with a salmon or steelhead on the other end of the line! I have 3 on the way.

Anyone install drag clicker on a Tatula?
Just ordered a kit from Russia off ebay. Seems to have good results from another forum but no feedback from tat owners.

Tatula teardown help
I just boxed up 6 tatulas to send for service and started thinking why not do it myself and save the $ to buy a few line counters next year! I use them mostly for trolling for kokanee. I have looked high and low for a tatula tear down video with no luck. Anyone have any direction on where I might find a video showing a teardown? Thanks

Seeking great baitcasting reel for spoon fishing salmon/steelhead
Well I ended up buying the chronarch mgl which sure feels nice casting it in the field. Now if the d**n sun would go away and the fall rains would start we can get down to some salmon fishing to test drive it.........

Has anyone ordered from Digitaka before?
Ordered a chronarch mgl 151 xg from them a few weeks ago for $235. Had it to the west coast in 6 days. Yes, the manual is in Japanese but I would buy from them again.

Mono Diameter - Steelhead Fishing
Thanks- Just what I was looking for. I will give it a try.

Mono Diameter - Steelhead Fishing
Yes steelhead are the target. I use Loomis 1024, 1025 & my favorite an HSR9000 which is actually built for fishing plugs- super light tip with heavy butt. I throw spinners and spoons up to 1/2 ounce and my favorite reel is a 2500 or 3000 stradic ci4 or FK. There are many obstacles in the small water that I fish so they will frequently run me into a submerged grass clump or under rocks so I end up breaking off a few every season. I was just asking for any advice on a smaller diameter line in 10-12# mono... Running out of line with even a 2500 is never an issue as it is small water. I used CXX for years as it is very durable but it is very thick and likes to coil.

The whole reason for this thread....... Brilliant!

Mono Diameter - Steelhead Fishing
I would sure like to go down to an 8 # mono but a hot 10-12# steelhead going ballistic and running all over the river is a little more than it can handle. To many obstacles; rocks, grass clumps, limbs so it is not just you and the fish. 8 # would be just fine in a large river but i fish some small water....
