BFS reels
Agreed! Paired with an Edge 622 what an awesome combo for catching trout on the spoon.

Need help with what lb line
3/4 oz for bait fishing trout? Why so much? Are you fishing swift rivers? If you need that much weight to get to where your going an upgrade in equipment will do the same and make it a much more enjoyable experience.

Recommendation needed for BFS set up
Well not sure if I will order from Major craft again- Ended up with my package but instead of rods it is huge lures. Obviously they sent me the wrong items. After several emails they tell me the rods are on the way and provided a tracking number for my package. This number identifies with a package bound for Hawaii- that is a long way from Oregon! I do really like the Kuying Teton- great rod for the price and of course the Loomis rods are outstanding.

Another Hi-Vis braid thread.
Fireline Ultra 8 in white- I use 6# on the trout rods and 20# for steel head. I throw hardware and floats and cant see anything that is not high vis and the white is very easy to see. For mono its Seige and Elite in orange and yellow or siglon f in pink. Tried the sunline supernatural in blue and that is impossible for me to see.

Recommendation needed for BFS set up
Since I already have 6 Tatula's I am going to order a couple of the DIY honeycomb spools and give them a try for throwing lighter gear. Anyone tried this? Any other upgrades needed on them while i am ripping them apart? 3 already have the drag clickers installed and I just ordered 3 more.

Recommendation needed for BFS set up
That is what I am afraid of but I would rather hear some reviews/comments from folks before blindly pulling the trigger on a few. I looked for the Finetail line and don't see them on their site......

Recommendation needed for BFS set up
Maybe 2-6# rating, using it for 1-5# trout in mountain lakes throwing hardware from boat. Best rod I have found so far is an Edge 622

Which Line for Aldebaran BFS?
No issues whatsoever!

Recommendation needed for BFS set up
Well, what rod did you go with and any good reviews/feedback? I have the conquest bfs and am still looking for a few light duty casting rods with no success..........

Which Line for Aldebaran BFS?
Just put the first serious time on my new conquest bfs which is spooled with 8# fireline ultra 8. nice and smooth making it a pleasure to throw effortless casts! Was throwing 1/4-2/5 oz spoons for trout . Still wish I could read the manual that came with the reel............

Spool Clicker
Yes I have ordered a few from the fine gentleman in Russia and installed them with great success but in my search for obtaining the same for a chronarch mgl I was suprised not to find them more readily available. The sound of a fish running down river pulling off drag is 1/2 the fun for me!
-
Spool Clicker
I mention my limited bass knowledge so don't be offended and yes I am referring to the clicker as in line out- not the clicker on the drag star or cast control cap but the only time the clicker i am referring to is when a fish makes a run against the drag. All spinning reels have them so why not baitcasters?
-
Spool Clicker
Just curious why so few low profile reels come with a spool clicker? I understand that the majority are probably used for bass and from my limited bass knowledge it seems like fisherman just haul them in as quick as possible and dont really play the fish. Here in the NW salmon and steel head are my target and a clicking drag makes the experience more enjoyable when you hear the fish making a run and peeling off line. We cannot simply tighten the drag and haul it in as the fight can be a battle back and forth for 10 minutes until the fish is worn down. I suppose they could be hauled in quick but what fun is that and it would require very heavy line. I have installed a few in Tatula's and it has made them much more enjoyable.

Sufix Siege vs Sunline Supernatural
I use both and they are both excellent lines! I say buy one of each and give them a try and decide for yourself which you prefer.

BFS reels
I have been trying to get into the BFS gear but it is hard to come by here in the US . I have purchased a calcutta conquest BFS reel so far and have paired it with a nice finesse Edge rod. Still trying to round up another rod and reel- Next im thinking a Daiwa SS paired with a Major Craft rod. Hard to pull the trigger on gear that I cannot even touch since none of it is sold here in the states.

Daiwa Tatula Type R vs CT Type R
I have 6 Tats including a few of the originals, the ct, sv and the Ct type R, All are smooth as silk EXCEPT the CT R which feels a little geary. Love them and will get a few more but they will not be the Ct Type R.

How far can you cast a baitcaster?
In my limited experience this is accurate for me as well. Depending on rod, weight, line, 30-40 yards seems on par for what I can throw and I am not superman or an old goat yet so I am guess that this is a fair number for the average joe fisherman.

Looking for Light CASTING rods
After catching wind of this late last night they have one less now! I have 3 Edge rods for other applications and whenever they go back on sale I will pick up the 711-1 which i have held and it is exactly what I want but i am stubborn and refuse to pay retail.

Looking for Light CASTING rods
Thanks for the input guys! I am slowly looking through the rods mentioned but have not yet found the light rod i seek. Closest I have found is the Kistler Magnesium 2 with lure weight of 1/16-3/8 and line 6-12. Seems like a light trout casting rod would be common here in the US but i guess not.

Looking for Light CASTING rods
Looking for light casting rod for lake fishing from boat. I cannot find any american made casting rods lighter than 8-12, 1/4 to 1/2 in casting. Would like to find something similar to the Loomis 842 IMX but in casting. Any good bass finesse rods for light tackle? I throw mostly 1/4 spoons, tiny crankbaits, bobber/fly using 4-6# line

Question regarding line color
Fish ain't stupid they can do their own research on the internet! Back in the old days they were not as smart and easier to catch but with today's technology they are just not that far behind us humans...........
