  1. I spent $500+ for rain gear from them a few years ago and they were great ! At the time they had the best price on Stormr Stryker. Still have their decal on my thermos......
  2. I thought I would relive old memories a few, well maybe 6-7 years ago and bought the latest zebco reel. Omega or something. I guess I am just spoiled by todays technology and after giving it a try I had to part ways with it. One of these days soon I am going to dig out an ugly stick also & relive the 80's......
  3. Shhhh. I'm a bass guy! I hear them steelhead fishes don't really fight anyhow........?
  4. Another vote for the Kuying Teton. The 642UL will make the small fish feel like monsters! Incredible quality for a $60 rod.
  5. Seems kind of unfair that Shishamo is not included in this poll.
  6. Love me some Pink Sunline Siglon F mono. Excellent line! Might as well go all out.
  7. I tried this. It was quite smooth for a very short time now its back to geary.......... Sending it to shimano tomorrow
  8. I own these 4 and spent yesterday throwing 3/8 oz weight into a river for steelhead. tatula sv, tatula ct r, bantam mgl, chronarch mgl. The clear choice to me as the easiest, smoothest casting reel with butter smooth retrieve is the tatula sv. Nearly effortless casting and no thumb needed. My 2 cents , your mileage may vary.
  9. where else can a guy find a nice date these days? (asking for a friend)
  10. Thank you for this great advice! I cleaned off the gears and applied a fairly thick coat of Cals drag grease and now this reel is very smooth again! Might be time to purchase another as the chronarch mgl just feels better in hand than any reel i own.
  11. It leaves a trail of fairy dust behind your lure which the fish just love! Dont know about on lures but it does work well for taming mono.
  12. Maybe I got a lemon but i have a dozen + reels including various tatula's, bantam mgl, conquest bfs hg and the chronarch mgl is the roughest of any of them by far. All the others are very smooth but the chronarch mgl feels geary and has a definite whine when reeling in quickly. All of these reels except the calcutta have been used hard for salmon and steelhead. Does not bother me if I use it all day but if I switch reels during the day it is a night and day difference. I sent it in for checking to a reel guy and was told it is normal for a micro module reel........... Sending it in to shimano next.
  13. The problem is that once you start on theses forums and read all the opinions and thoughts on different reels then you need to check them out for yourself. Its a never ending rabbit hole of trying new gear for those of us foolish enough to never be satisfied.............
  14. ya the half price gimmick has been going on for a few years now. Sounds like you got lucky! Not bashing the rods just their customer service and honest communication. Dont know how many years they can go on like this.....
  15. Check out all of the recent complaints on their fb before they get deleted. Seems as though most folks still have not received the guaranteed delivery yet................ Not sure how these guys are still in business...
  16. Chronarch MGL was super smooth for maybe a month now it feels geary to me and has a definite whining sound when retrieving. Sent in for maintenance and was told it is fine. Not fine by my standards any longer when i have 5 year old Tatulas that are still butter smooth.
  17. Is there a way to secure this thing to a work bench? Looks like the suction cup might not be easily modified by running a bolt through it?
  18. I'm glad no neighbors can see me as I am out casting in my field nearly every day........... Good exercise for the dog to!
  19. Most of my loomis rods have multiple scuffs, dings & scratches from flailing in the rocks. Only time I have had one break was due to my own fault. The E6X is their low end and I have no experience with them but all the others fish better with a few signs of battle! Fish it and dont worry.
  20. Their customer service is unresponsive and if they do ever respond it will just be what you want to hear and not what will happen- Same with phone calls. Lots of complaints get posted on their fb page and quickly removed. I have 6 of their rods and love them but after having to deal with them a few times it is simply not worth the hassle. My last order i was told 3-5 weeks and after getting the run around a few times i just asked for a refund after 8 weeks. Good luck!
  21. I use 6# braid on a tatula with DIY spool with no problems.
  22. Where does one find this coupon you speak of? 20 years on ebay and i have never seen them.
