  1. 20 years on Ebay- purchase all of my reels except the JDM, Sad to say but I can purchase nearly everything cheaper online than local and I like many other spend a lot of money to support my hobby. Buying from sellers with 98% feedback with a long history- sellers will be very accommodating as they don't want any negative feedback on their record. I used to purchase numerous vehicles online as well and out of nearly 20 cars I was only burned once by a guy that shipped me a rusted out landrover....
  2. The expeditor program is sweet! Broke an IMX high sticking a fish and had the replacement at my door 2 days later.
  3. Another vote for the Chronarch MGL- butter smooth, great casting reel that handles steel head with ease...........
  4. I look at every purchase as a once in a life time opportunity. It will never be (insert whatever date it happens to be) again and if i miss this chance the opportunity will be gone forever. Problem solved...........
  5. Sufix seige, elite, sunline super natural and siglon f
  6. I have the conquest bfs hg and still not located a manual in english .....
  7. Question for you bass guys- I have been using my chronarch mgl for steelhead and hooked into a very nice fish recently that was testing the drag- The thing definitely was not smooth and was herky-jerky. The fish ran straight down river but i was finally able to stop it and get it headed back my way. I have just ordered carbontex washers for it but is this the problem or something with the reel itself? Oh ya after fighting the fish for several minutes and getting it close to me the hook suddenly popped out and i was left standing in the river cursing .............
  8. Has anyone added a clicker into their MGL?
  9. 2 years ago I thought the only thing a $300 rod would catch was the sucker who bought it. Then I made the mistake of buying a few used loomis rods. Now I cannot fish with anything less. Once you use quality gear going back to budget gear is not possible. I spent 35 years using budget gear. We could get to our fishing spots driving a ford pinto but why?
  10. I have parachute cord tied across the back from the rear passenger handles in the third row seating then again at the second row seats. Super easy and rods are up out of the way. The reels keep the rods from sliding out. 7' rods fit perfect in my honda pilot. On extended trips I wrap the rods with one of those rubber coated twisties so they dont slide side to side.
  11. Tat sv would be my pick despite the fact I have never used the K. I have 6 tats from the original, ct, ct R and sv. Love them all! Super simple to dial in and nearly impossible to backlash. Use them for everything from trolling for kokanee in lakes to salmon and steelhead in the rivers. Never have had a single issue with any of them. Recently purchased a chronarch mgl and wish I had not.............
  12. That is my goal! 23.5 is my pb so of course i need to beat that.
  13. If we spend the dough just to go fishing why use cheap gear? I spend anywhere from $10-$50 just on gas to drive to a fishing location so why would I skimp on cheap line?
  14. I currently have 5 stradics and have never been impressed with them- I know why the heck keep buying them? Kinda stuck with them since every time one has an issue they get sent back to shimano and replaced with a new one...
  15. My conquest BFS just arrived today so curious what you guys have found on preferred line after several months? Mine will be strictly used for casting from the boat in trout lakes. Fish can get up 8-10 # but more common is 2-4#.
  16. Thanks for the idea- may have to give one a try. I do have a few of the SST kokanee trolling rods and really like them.
  17. Loomis 842GLX if you want nice high end. I have done a ton of trout fishing the last 40 years and the stradic 1000 with 6lb pline cxx is my go to for trout up to 23.5". My goal is to break the 5# barrier next year.
  18. http://www.mels-place.com/String/string.htm Good stuff thanks Grumpy!
  19. Tatula sv Recently purchased a chronarch MGL and the Tat sv. Should have bought 2 tats instead- it is the better reel imho.
  20. Sunline Siglon F comes in pink and orange. I use it on my kokanee trolling rods and love it! Going to give it a try for winter steelhead.
  21. Thanks for the info! Just picked this up with the 25% off and it feels nice with a tat sv mounted. Cannot wait to give it a try.
  22. sooooooooo back to the original question- Anyone that has a bfs hg that can vouch for it being a INCREDIBLE reel for throwing 1/4 oz spinners? Or am I wrong in my wishing to own this reel? I cannot see myself using it for anything thing other then the rare trout trip where i throw light spinners into 6'-8' deep water.
  23. How would that compare to a tat sv or chronarch mgl which i already own? I may be over thinking this as they do just fine but I wanted to own a true top of the line caster that would work well for a 1/4 oz spinners. Life is short and one can never have to many reels.
  24. I have plenty of other reels for the ocean going salmon and steelhead in the area but am wanting a top shelf "tiny" reel for high lake trout fishing. The days of the zebco and the ugly stick are becoming just a fading memory.......
