  1. Thank you all for your input. Like I stated, i typically will fish soft plastics with a 3/16 weight but occasionally i'll throw smaller jigs, or smaller spinnerbaits...seems like both rods would do the job, it just might come down to personal preference.
  2. Hello, its been a while since ive posted on here but i'm looking into buying my first dobyns baitcasting rod and have a few questions i'm hoping someone help with. I'm currently looking at the fury series, specifically the 733 and 734. I will mainly be throwing texas rigged worms and creature baits with either a 1/8 or 3/16 bullet weight. I've handled both at the store and i cant decide which one would rod would be best. I see the 734 is recommended a lot here on the forums as a good all around bass rod, but it seemed to be a little more on the heavy side and i'm wondering if maybe the 733 would be better for what i plan on using it for? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I live in WV so not exactly the "south", but tubes are a staple that I throw consistently. I texas rig them and have had good success on largemouths. Me and my fishing buddy sometimes travel down south and fish the carolinas and have had good success down there with tubes as well.
  4. I have a fuego ct reel and can highly recommend it, but I dont personally have any experience with Daiwa rods. From what I have read on here, a lot of the Daiwa rods get good reviews. I'm sure someone who has used them will probably chime in.
  5. Its a shame that there seems to be a negative stigma associated with depression (i'm not saying on this forum, just in general) as there shouldn't be a negative stigma at all. Its a real medical condition just like diabetes or blood pressure problems. I myself have struggled with this in the past and it was only after I sought out medical help that I improved. Dont listen to people who say its not real or "just snap out of it", as its simply not that easy. Please seek help as soon as possible so you can get back on your feet and start enjoying life again. Trust me, it can and will get better. Sending prayers.

I recently purchased my first pack of rage tail craws after hearing about them for a while. I have traditionally fished mostly worms, senkos, and tubes exclusively, but I must say, the rage tail craws are awesome. The craw may be my new go to bait as I seem to be getting more strikes on them than anything lately. Does anyone else fish the craws with success?
  7. I've had this happen to me before on fluorocarbon when using a palomar knot. I then found the video posted above of Shaw Grigsby. I've started using the knot he shows in the video for fluorocarbon and mono both. Ive never had a break off since. Once you tie it a few times and becomes second nature. Wet the line, cinch down slow, cut three tag ends off, enjoy.
  8. Exactly @jbrew73 If you're going for distance with lighter lures, its more about loading the rod than it is about trying to muscle it out there.
  9. Practice, practice, practice, then practice some more. I agree with WRB, letting some extra line out (12-14") before casting helps me throw lighter lures easier. Also, if I were you, id get rid of the fluro until you get some more experience in.
  10. 90% BC and 10% Spinning. Personally I'm much more comfortable and accurate with a baitcaster.
  11. Sorry, -10 on the opera.....I cant handle it...
  12. I started shaving my face with an old school double edged safety razor several years ago and havent looked back. The blades are much cheaper and give a great shave once you get used to using them. I still use a mach 3 to shave my head with as they are a little more forgiving of the contours of my head. I also ditched the modern day canned shaving cream in favor of shaving soap and a brush. I love the stuff and can never see myself going back to canned shaving cream.
  13. Nice ride slonezp! I am a toyota truck guy as my first was a tacoma and now I currently own a '08 Tundra with over 100k on the clock. I love my tundra and if i were in the market for a new truck id probably look at a new tundra. But I do think that Ford has really stepped up their game in the last couple of years and I would definitely take a close look at a Ford as well.
  14. I used 12lb XT on one of my baitcasters for a little bit. I personally didn't care for it at all and it felt like i was fishing with wire. I recommend sufix siege. I started using 12lb siege on one of my baitcasters and have been very pleased with the strength as well as the manageability.
  15. Fuego CT. Then you'll have money left over for line and bait.
