  1. Being into the bass fishing as we are, this came to mind about where have you caught more of your fish, would you say you've caught more fish more around the shallow's and near structure? or have you caught more out in open and not near structure ? just curious because when i caught my pb it wasn't near structure or near the shallow's , most would think that for the most part, at least i did when i caught my pb. so have you caught more of your fish more near structure and shallow's or is it equally the same as for as fishing out in the open and not near structure of any kind ?and do you get just as many fish and bigger fish from shallow water and structure or is it the same as in open water? fish you think or expect to be aren't where you think they would be and figure to be but aren't, imo. i myself see catching bass near structure and shallow water about 55% and not near structure and out in open water the other 45%. so where do see yourself catching more bass or most of your bass ? in your op?
  2. Since we've gotten into bass fishing, do or would you say you've developed your own personal way or method for fishing ? or after being into bass fishing would you say you've developed a method for fishing from another person and use theirs ? i myself have taken alot of info for fishing from various sources, fishing shows, magazines ,etc..but might use the method for my fishing, but would also say don't copy either . some might do the same as some other's do, some might also have a fishing celebrity they do what they do or imitate their method for fishing. so do you have a method for fishing you've made for yourself by yourself ? or go by someone else's method or way for fishing ? we use different styles, techniques ,patterns etc...i'm sure . no offence but its kinda like monkey see monkey do, when it comes down to it. figuratively speaking . your op on this.
  3. we or i at least assume the day you caught your pb it was a very memorable time and probably never forget ,but that day when you caught your pb did you think or plan on it happening ? and when you caught your pb was it a planned lure or a random lure you just decided to put on and thought you'd catch fish but not your pb ? i myself didn't have it planned as far as the lure i chose that day to get my pb but it did . some of us when we get to a body of water, we like to take into consideration all factors when it comes to catching fish or that pb we caught, at least i do , and i think some lures work better than other's but not always . so when you gotten your pb did you plan that to happen and that lure, did you plan that as well to get your pb?
  4. We all have gotten into this fishing thing for a long time now ,but how much if anymore do you fall back on any if any older lures and tackle etc ..? and if you use it, would you think that it would be just as good as the newer tackle and lures of today ? i don't put the older lures and tackle away just cause something's newer and put the older lures and tackle aside , where do you put the older lures and tackle in your fishing strategy or don't really use it anymore? that make you think is newer really better ? i say not really! imo. i rate the newer tackle and lures about 75%as far as getting the fish or job done and 25% for older lures and tackle , but my older lures and tackle still produce results. what's your op on this?
  5. We all fish for relaxation or whatever reason, regardless of that, what would happen if you were to catch say the state record bass? or the world record bass ? you get put in the record books i'm sure, but is that all for getting that accomplishment done? i don't know if you'd think about that when you caught whatever fish you just broke that record with. but i bet it would come to mind . would you get any money? and what about the gear,tackle,etc... i'm sure the companies gear you used to catch whatever fish would jump forward . hasn't happened but if it did? your op.
  6. been fishing for some time now, about 42yrs and been i'd say 7yrs of that for pan fish but was when i was 7yrs of age,and the rest strictly bass fishing from then till now . had gotten 2 ultra lite combo's want to try out for pan fish, but been like i said a long time ago . need some tips on what to use tackle wise,etc.. and this reel has i think 6lb test line. but crappie,perch,bluegill,etc.. is what i'm after again and need some help . your help thanks!
  7. my favorite way of fishing is mostly plastics, and was going through my tb and seen quite alot of colors, which is good but when it comes to those multi colored ones ,it made me think does it make alot of difference that much ? it might look good when us angler's see it when we buy it , but does those fish we pursue actually care it's one color or multi colored ?and do you get more results using the multi colored ones or not ? i know there's reaction strikes and hunger strikes too,but does multi colored ones have something to with that also? compared to single colored ones ? so what's your op on this? i know fish can see ,but does the fish care if your using the multi colored one or single colored one? as far as plastic worms go,there's variety of multi colored ones but not sure the fish care's about it being multi colored ! i think the fish see's something that is certain.
  8. were into football now and lets see your op on what you think your nfl team's record will be, and do you think the'll make the playoff's? mine are the 49ers and think the'll go 13-3 , and make the playoff's and just to add salt to the wound , take the cake and eat it .yummmmy!
  9. have you made a so called travel sized tb for yourself? i've made one up for quick outings because carrying that tackle box gets tiring after a while, unless your in a boat or in one place . mine i've broken down to a few top water baits ,worms, hooks etc...and a hook out plier. oh yeh stringer, does make it easier for sure. so do you have one or take that tackle box that's full of everything everywhere you go? and if you do have one made up, what's in it ? think that's easy carrying a tackle box, well mine i'd say is roughly 20lbs fully loaded, and that's a guestimate. i don't know about you, but when i fish i move around alot to scout the whole area or most of the water i'm fishing. like i said does get tiring after a while . the travel one i've made maybe weighs a total 3lbs, maybe!
  10. probably lose alot more than that but where i fish isn't lake mead mind you lol.. it's ok for what it is for fishing but not great.
  11. i've been scouting for new places to fish and have seen some bodies of water that look promising ,but what if there's no sign posted saying no fishing or keep out, can you fish that and not get into trouble ? you'd think that if whoever didn't want you fishing that body of water would post a sign, so how does one go about that? not knowing if it's ok but not posted either and think it's public access also. it's kinda 50/50 some bodies of water that is posted and some bodies of water not posted.
  12. we all gotten into this sport of fishing and well was wondering how big this sport actually become , and is it as big as we might think it has? it's hard to say imo ,but if you want my op on this sport i'd say it's just as big as golf, and well there's alot of those people out there doing that sport. so how do we rate this sport? i know it goes by licences for us people of age but how about kids that don't need one . there's who knows how many of those that like this sport , so where do you rate this sport? and where do you put it as far as your top sport or not ? i do imo!
  13. we do a fair amount ol fishing every year, but do you keep a guestimate on what you lose as far as tackle goes ? i call it a guestimate, even though it's not a word, but anyway i lost this year a total ol 24.00$ worth ol tackle. you don't think it's alot but after a while it add's up. so have you lost any tackle that put you back alot ol money this year? tackle isn't cheap anymore! lures,line,etc.. your thoughts on this. or doesn't matter? it does after losing a little here and there.
  14. i started a topic a while ago, does bigger baits mean bigger fish ? well i'm curious to find out in your op if you think small lures do just as well producing big fish as well as big lures do ? or is it just the same? or depends on certain factors as well . your thought's on this.
  15. We all have become members here and are great to be part ol imo, and what i have gathered since being here is just as great, as far as knowledge, opinions, insight, help in general ,etc... now with having said that,is anything that you've aquired this year you haven't tried or learned since being on this forum your gonna try next year ? i learned a few things i'm gonna try next year like that carolina rig, wacky worm rigs and that drop shot rig. this forum is just phenomenal in my book ! and so are you members here also ! just thanks !!
  16. With all the tackle we have, is the tackle box you have missing anything you don't have or still need to get? lures that is, or what you have sufficient ? and if not what would it be?to make it complete.
  17. this has to do with where the basic plastic worm has started and now's become . i don't know if all of us use it ,but think 65% of us do. this has so many different styles ,shapes, forms etc... was curious which worm's do you use most and why ? i generally use flip tails, curly tails, and lizards with mostly purple ,red, black color's and texas rigged, split shot, and get decent results . so which do you use and what technique goes with the worm or worm's you choose and when do you use them?( season )
  18. yeh just found a bag, got some stuff it and am wondering what to with it . 2 1/2 went by and nobody in the area to claim it and if i didn't do what i did then who would've ? didn't have any i.d with it .some suggestions thanks
  19. with fall just now in the formula of our patterns for fishing, is the bite gonna be more or less than say summer's was ? i been noticing it to be a little less imo and also noticing finding the so called average bass is getting to be a little more than before also . so is it gonna be fewer and less or still the same bite wise ? and having to do a little more than before to find these bass? been using worm rigs 6inches and getting few bass on this ,but nothing yet on the popper. i also am noticing schools of small bass but are small in size, like say 5 to 7in and are in the shallow's,about 3 to 6inches of water . no average size bass though, you'd think where's there's small fish there's a big or at least a average size one somewhere nearby. these bass are having to get ready for fall by eating more so they can take on the winter from what i've heard, i think that to be true,so what am i doing wrong? or need to try something different ? be a fish or whatever per say,you gotta eat no matter what !
  20. I went fishing today and was looking for a new pond and came across a tackle bag , i waited to see if anyone was fishing nearby and nobody was. so 2 1/2 hrs go by and nothing yet. i'm starting to wonder who's this is and nobody comes to claim this bag ,so after all said and done,i decide to take it myself after 2 1/2 hrs go by ,so did i do the right thing or no ? nobody there almost 2 1/2 hrs mind you now and nobody is showing up either .your opinion on this strange find. i was fishing all around for 2 1/2 hrs and i think who's this bag belongs to but nobody is around or near this pond or bag, just myself that's it!
  21. I've been fishing since about 7yrs of age. now tried alot of lures and techniques , but one i haven't and want your opinion on is the carolina rig . how does it do to texas rig or wacky rig set ups,etc.. ? it's good ,bad ,and it's ugly points! if it has an ugly one. i think that's the only rig i haven't tried to my knowledge.
  22. We had this year almost over now,not much left of it, but has your year been what you expected it or the same?,or better than you expected it ? mine was about less than i expected it . but what's left i'll try and make something out of it, fishing that is ! and did you do anything new or different ? or just stayed with your normal technique ? mine was the same. imo!
  23. if you put your mind to it ,there's nothing you can't do ! fishing or anything else for that matter goes ! succeed!
  24. Was out fishing the other day but wasn't getting any results on top like i'd figure ,and its only been like 3 or 4 days since i put the pole up for a rest due to weather. I switched over to a 6 in worm purple /blu flake and was getting 3 fish but were small in size ,like 12 incher's . So is it over pretty much now for any bites on top ? and is the bites going to be mid and bottom from now on ? wouldn't mind some suggestions on tackle either for getting better bass results ,like 15 incher's on up ! and where would these bass be now its fall time ? would these bass be near cover,in cover ,deeper,or shallow ? its been like 3 days since i been fishing and when i was there didn't see any bait fish swimming near shore or bass either. don't know if that has anything to do with this , but think it does because where there's small fish ,there's a big fish close by. just need a better game plan for this and some suggestions ! thanks !
  25. we all have a targeted fish or the majority of us do ,but do you have a second fish that you pursue also ? like for instance my main fish is the large mouth bass but if i decided to go after another species i think it would be muskie or tiger muskie . haven't caught either to this day but wouldn't mind . the water would first of all hold that species of course, but if it did i would give it a try . so do you have a second fish you pursue or just basically one?
