  1. Hi all, For those of you that fish in S. Florida, I was thinking of going to Matheson Hammock Park to fish a little. Any recommendations? What type of fish to look for? What kind of gear to bring? Thanks!
  2. Ahh, thanks. I will do that, was wiping it hard trying to get it far out there since I am fishing from the shore Shockwave, how do you cast them side or overhead?
  3. So with straight mono or fluoro is there a lot less chances for break offs when casting? Right. Now. I am fishing from the shore so I try to get as much distance as I can.
  4. I just start fishing floating swimbaits like bbz 6in floater and shell cracker. I feel comfortable throwing straight braid but now I am having doubts because I keep reading others throw mono or fluoro. Am I worrying for nothing?
  5. Hi all! I have been wanting to buy a kayak for awhile but don't have the space for it and would have to buy other materials to retro fit car to carry one. I thought about getting an inflatable hobie kayak. I don't think I will use it anywhere with rough waters, mainly small lakes or canals. Anyone that owns one could give me some insight? #1) is there enough room to store your gear on board? #2) Is it durable? (a lot to put down for a kayak so seeing if its worth it) #3) Is it difficult to lug to the water once inflated? Thanks in advance!
  6. Ahh, Lox is a canal. I thought it was a lake somewhere. Will add to my places to investigate ^^
  7. Where is Lox? I never heard of it? Is it someplace where you can fish from shore or a boat is a must?
  8. Cool, can't wait to try it out. When you throw yours, how long do you wait to start retrieving?
  9. Nice CDobber BassinLou: The last time I was at Amelia I got a 2lber near the reeds. I went there wanting to rent a paddle boat to fish further out but they were closed. I don't remember seeing heavy cover for frogs but maybe I didn't go everywhere. Maybe the weather might change and get the bass feeding again.
  10. Thanks everyone for the feed back. I have decided to go with a swimbait rod just in case I take to throwing other ones later on. It was a hard decision with so many different options but I guess that's how it is when dealing with fishing equipment/tackle. Just look at how many different lures we buy every year LOL
  11. The only place that I fish frogs is in Tropical Park down by Bird road. Right now I don't know anywhere else that has a lot of vegetation. I wouldn't be so focused on frogging but all those times at the end of the spring when spring when I missed hook sets bothers me X_X And it's another technique to learn
  12. I have the BBZ 6in floating model, do I need a leader for it or straight braid is ok? I am throwing it in stained water I am slowly leaning towards a swimbait rod it seems like it
  13. I think that day I switch between frogs during the 8 hour span. Early morning: Koppers (white) Late morning: Booyah Pad Crasher (green) Early Evening: Spro Popping Frog (brownish red) Evening: Koppers (brown) Tried a senko in between early morning-late morning: did get a bite but missed it, Couldn't get a bite with a senko after that Tried a Buzzbait but when the wind kicked up, put it away Might try a creature next time. I don't have a boat so I don't have too many options for dropping something in besides the edges of the pads. If there is an open space deep in the pads, do I throw there with a creature? Won't my line get tangled in the pads? Still new to frog so I apologize for the newbie questions ^^;;
  14. The line weight for the Okuma is 12-25lb, is that mono? If I plan to use 50lb braid, is that too much?
  15. Thanks for all the info guys. I think your both right, I may just stick to a swimbait rod. Now I have to decide to either go with the Okuma or the Daiwa. Not many review so I may have to wait bait
  16. Hello all, I am kind of in a bind and looking for opinions. Recently I purchased a BBZ 6 in floater model and realized that my rod isn't equipped to throw it. I have narrowed my choice to Daiwa S heavy or a Daiwa Dx Swimbait casting rod. The only reason I didn't already purchase the DX because I am worried about having it only for swimbaits since it is 8ft. I like to have versatility in rods but not sure if I could use the DX in other applications like frogging. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  17. Conditions: Tons of lily pads. Summer time in Miami so temperature in upper 90s. Windy depending on time of day
  18. I am a bank fisher too. Since summer started I have been dry. At least I know that I am not the only one.
  19. Awwww, I always enjoy seeing a parent fishing with their children.
  20. Hello all, Came home after trying to practice frogging for 8 hours. Hard to practice setting the hooker when there are no takers What do you guys do to try to restart the bite when it drys up?
  21. Welcome! Nice to see a fellow Floridian
  22. Just wanted to say hi from Miami, FL. Been fishing since I was a kid but only bluegill (the starter fish). I discovered bass later on in my adulthood but loving it. Still somewhat new and I hope I can find all the tips I need to learn all the different techniques from fellow memebers. My favorite fishing technique is topwater. Currently trying to get a hang of frogging. Still haven't mastered setting the hook O.o
