Hi all, Today I was trying a different setup for bank canal fishing. I was getting nothing so I start to cast while heading back to the car. Something hit the bait hard and started to bend the rod tip. It felt like I had a machine gun on the other end. After a couple of turns of the reel I heard a ping and the line went limp. I was utterly demoralized . I wish I could have at least seen what it was. Any thoughts? Part of me thinks it might have been a big peacock. Any of you guys that fish the canals might know what it was? Another question, since the water in some of the Miami canals are so stained, think I could get away with straight braid? Setup: Rod 7ft Shimano Teramar Medium Reel Shimano CI4 2500 Spinning Line 15lb Power Pro Leader: 12 lb Fluoro Lure: Mirror Lure suspending twitch bait Location: Dnake Creek Canal behind the N. Thanks! I may try that on my next outing. I just tend to fish parks because I worry about parking and safety when fishing solo. I looked at the map, You think I would be ok just pulling up some place near the canal to park and fish?

Hi all, I have been jumping around trying different parks in Miami. I was wondering if bass fishing is good at CB Smith park? If it is good, what spot and lures is recommended for that area? Thanks in Advance!

I have the deeper depth finder now and it seems pretty good. You loose connection sometimes but just a reconnect and things are ok. The only drawback I see is weight and the battery. I always throw under hand to make sure that it doesn't get snapped off with braid by accident. The battery lasts a decent time if you just want to get an idea of the depth and what might be underneath the water like cover. The battery discharges fast when just being stored so you have to remember to give it a charge now and then. Note that you can not change the battery once it has reached its life, it will have to be sent back to switch out the battery. Hope this helps!

Hi all, I have started to experiment with using braid with a fluoro leader on a spinning reel. Setting up is not a problem but fishing it is a bit different. I usually look for the line jumps with mono for plastics like worms and such. With the braid, am I just feeling for the bite since it's so hard to see the moss green line in the water. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hi all, I was at most local lake in Miami, FL and I noticed along the shore there were 3 Large Mouth Bass and 7 Tilapia dead along the shore. I was wondering do you guys find it alarming or am I just witnessing a normal incident? Thanks for your input.

Caught my 1st bass with the Shadow rap today but when I had it a foot from the bank, the bass threw it It was my real 1st bass on a jerkbait too
