  1. I recently picked up the St. Croix mojo bass cranking rod. I absolutely love it. The crankster is a 7'4 medium power, moderate action. It is made out of fiberglass so it is very tough and has a super sweet parabolic bend to it. I am never worry that I'm going to straighten out treble hooks, or rip a hole in the fishes mouth.
  2. Really like the Veritas 2.0. As far as spinning rods, seems like an awesome rod!
  3. Yeah, I'd say that one in your profile is a but over 2. Maaaybeeee 2 and a quarter... That's being generous
  4. Hey everyone, I am in the market for a topwater/jerkbait rod and had my eyes on this rod (they are 50% off at my local Dicks). Does anyone have any experience with this particular rod, or Wright and Mcgill in general? If not, do you guys recommend another rod??? -Gabe
  5. Have tou practiced with other scents?? JJ's magic?
  6. Hahaha this gave me a good laugh lol
  7. WRB, my apologies. I need to update my profile. I caught the bass in a pond I North Georgia. It was a LMB
  8. Sorry! Well, maybe we can turn this into another thread..How can you tell the sex of a bass?
  9. Well, I imagine the return would be issued through the store. Right?
  10. Hell yeah man! Have that spot produced more good fish?? Watermelon is a great all around color.
  11. Gerald "G-Man" Swindle because he cracks me up
  12. So lets here the stories gentlemen! What was the biggest bass you have ever caught? What were the conditions like, baits used, water clarity, the works! I will start... The largest bass I have ever caught was about 2 months ago and it is my profile picture. I got to the spot around 6:45AM (Still dark) and about 15 minutes later he bit. I was using a magnum trick worm, Texas rigged, and the tail dipped in JJ's. The outside temperature was probably 75-78 degrees and the water clarity was terrible. When he bit, I immediately knew it was a biggin and the fight was on. He came in at 10 lbs 4-5oz. Whats your biggest bass?! Pics welcomed
  13. I only use braid when Im throwing frogs, jigs, creature baits into real thick cover. For open water, stick with FC. It sinks, unlike braid, and depending on water clarity, FC is almost completely invisible as opposed to braided line
  14. Veritas! I got a 7ft MH/Fast that I use for worms and jigs and I absolutely love it. Im kinda rough on my gear and it has held up remarkably.
  15. Wow! That is great information. Cabelas is covering the rod for one year, so since they have a new company manufacturing their blanks, I'm going to put this thing to work and see what happens. Luckily I do have an Academy Sports near by. Ill keep the Ethos in mind! I do need a new topwater rod
  16. I have the same reel and had similar issues when throwing lighter lures. The brakes seemed to be functioning properly, as well as the spool tension. One thing I think is overlooked sometimes is how much line, and what weight line, is on the spool. For example, you do not want to little line on the spool as it'll have more drag and will decrease your cast ability. However, too much line can increase backlashes. Remove about 10% of the line not the reel and see if that helps any. Good luck!
  17. Approved! Maybe one more for pitching into heavy cover
  18. Hey everyone, I am thinking about picking up a new pitching stick and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this rod. I will post the link below. Also, I know lately there have been talks about who is making Cabela's blanks. Does anyone have an update on who is recently manufacturing them? I called a few stores to speak with the fishing department, as well as management. No one knew. Hah Thanks guys http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Fishing-Rods/Casting-Rods|/pc/104793480/c/104764680/sc/104823180/Cabelas-Pro-Guidereg-Bass-Casting-Rods/1722609.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fcasting-rods%2Fcabelas%2F_%2FN-1102351%2B1000002949%2FNe-1000002949%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104823180%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104793480%253Bcat104764680%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU%26gclid%3DCLC0kP3S8b8CFQuffgod3XkAAw%26gclsrc%3Dds&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104793480%3Bcat104764680%3Bcat104823180
  19. Really appreciate the words fellas. I think even the trilene big game will be good too. Its cheap, and I know I won't get max depth out of the crank baits, but Im mainly fishing off the bank. Ill try to do a little more research before I swap lines. Thanks!
  20. You know, I think thats a really good idea. I know Pline makes a copolymer line. I think that'll be perfect for this
  21. Thanks everyone! Yeah, that is where the issue lies. I have 12 pound fluorocarbon on my crank bait setup, so once in a while the spook will sink or the popper won't have the best action. Should I leave it as is, or use my flipping and pitching setup, which has braided line on it, for topwater applications. My fear is the braid will straighten the treble hooks on the lures when setting the hook.
  22. Hey everyone! I have four setups right now, and want everyones opinion on what setups I should be using for each technique. Below I will write the setups I have and what Im currently using them for. 7' Medium power/fast action spinning rod. Phleuger President - Dropshotting, wacky rigs, and weightless worms 7' Medium Heavy power/fast action. Lews Speed Spool 7.1:1 - Texas Rigging, Carolina Rigging, Spinnerbaits, and Jigs, buzz baits 7'4 Medium Power/Moderate action fiberglass rod. Garcia 5.4:1 - Crankbaits and topwater (treble hooks) 7'6 Heavy power/Xtra fast action. Garcia 6.3:1 - Pitching jigs, and frogs. I feel like everything being used feels good, except I do not know what to do with my topwater lures. Should I keep everything as is, or should I be using one of the other setups for topwater lures. Now, I know I can solve this issue by purchasing another combo, but I think my woman would punch me in the face. I need advice from the expert anglers on this forum! Thanks everybody! -Gabe
