Do you all use Tungsten weights on your Carolina rigs?
  2. 85 dollars?
  3. For those who compete in tournaments... What has been the typical amount of money paid out for winning a tournament that you compete in?

Ok, how does this compare with steel?
  5. Ok, Im scratching my head over this. What does a tungsten weight, do for your presentation, that a lead or steel weight does not?

Again, trim the legs. But, these fish are so crosseyed, and miss so much, that I think I'll need to add a tail hook, just for a hookup.
  7. I have a soft spot for baits that you modify and piece together. Gets the creative juices going. Today I caught a fish on a black/blue football jig with a junebug trailer. The trailer, was a 9-inch Culprit Fat Max worm, of which I had cut about 3 inches off the body, and then put the remaining body/tail onto the jig. Looks great while swimming, falling, and scootin across the bottom. Kinda looks like a giant tadpole.
  8. Before each outing, I go to the shore, build a fire, and put on a full voodoo chanting ceremony, and baptize my rod with the blood of the ancestors. Then...I ask for Jobu to come.
  9. Well today was certainly an improvement...with fish behavior that seems a little more normal. Using a frog, I got multiple strikes at it from various fish, in various spots. One pair of strikes was likely a follow up from the same fish. But nonetheless, all of them missed. I wasnt even trying to set the hook today, as I wanted to see which fish would actually take the frog under - none of them did. The strikes were clear misses, and the frog remained on the surface. Leads me to believe that these were all dinks going at it. So then, I relocate to a spot that I have never had any action at, at all - ever. Throw the frog, get anothe rmissed strike. Alright Im ok with that, at least there is life. I toss a jig into some shallow weeds - Bam, I get a fish, and as I brought him in closer, he was probably a respectable 2-3lber. Then he shakes off, and I lose him. But thats ok, regardless of whether I lost him or not, the level of action I encountered this morning, was a nice improvement to what Im used to. Its just a matter of figuring this lake out.
  10. Im partial to Pad Crashers so far.. But check this, here is an excellent review site specifically regarding frog baits. http://bassjunkiesfrogpond.blogspot.com/
  11. Ive accomplised all of my fishing goals - its all gravy after that.
  12. Good to know, the slower action makes sense, due to its larger proportions. I think I'll check them out and tinker with them for a bit.
  13. Do you prefer to rig them 'standing up' like a fish? Or rig them 'laying down' like a beaver bait?
  14. Ive been curious about them as well. How is the flapping action from the Mega Daddy's claws? Is that action comparable to a rage craw or paca craw? Are the claws buoyant enough to stand up? What size jig are you using for this thing?
  15. Well, I will say this. I absolutely love Kalins Grubs. Kalins make a fantastic product. However, I typically save the Kalins for use by themselves, or maybe with a beetle spin. But, for a skirt n trailer presentation(for my preferences), I find these Mr. Twister FATs out-do the Kalins by a fair margin. But thats just me.
  16. True, it is highly subjective, and should always be taken with a grain of salt. But of course, it is that sort of subjectiveness that keeps the bass fishing industry as large as it is.
  17. Shameless plug Just gonna say, when it comes to using a curly grub for a trailer, these things are my absolute favorite grubs. Their size, bulk, and tail action, are bar none. No other brand of grubs suits my personal preferences better than these. Whether as a trailer, or fished alone. Just wish they came in more creative colors, but they do have the essentials.
  18. Caught mine just last weekend. 21", about 5lbs. Got him on a buzzbait w/ 5" Mr. Tw. FAT curly grub trailer.
  19. Hah....I bet you put a squarebill on a drop shot.
  20. Good guess - 7' rod, although Its listed as a MH, but the lure weight ranges from 1/4 - 1.5oz
  21. Roboworms Also, not sure if they make it anymore, but I really like an Evolve Fluid Worm. Leaches are good too.
  22. Get a different brand worm.....That Zman elaztech stuff is whats causing your difficulty.
  23. I like em. My standard swim jig trailers are Keitech FAT 3.8, and 5" Mr. Twister Fat curly grubs.
  24. Agreed, certainly sound advice. I do try to do that sort of thing, when I can. Often though, those efforts are impeded by the surrounding trees, bushes, n such. At times, 15ft back, puts me in the woods where I have no casting clearance. However, by comparison, so far Ive not found any real consistencies or differences in catch rates, between casting from shore, or casting from 15ft back or so. But the logic is certainly sound, so I still keep that as part of my strategy.
