18OCT2014 Another great day out on Cherokee Creek! First fish on for me was a 5 lber(caught on blue/purple lizard), followed by a 2lber(caught on blue/purple lizard), and finally a 4lber(caught on a rattle crank bait); all of these where about 50+ft off shore line. Very little top water action, most of these were small and got off quick. Wind was a little rough starting out but finally settled down some. My friend has been going out in the evenings too, and has caught some big boys as well.

17OCT2014 Keg Creek had action on top early morning, fished both sides of the bridge area from the bank, caught a small one on a popper and lost a lizard. Lizard was getting some hits, just no good strikes. After someones dog came by and started swimming, I decided it was time to go. Beautiful morning with light wind around 930.

Always Ready To Fish?
You can get a compact pole and small container fill it with a few extra plastics, hooks, jigs, etc from the main tackle. That way you can keep it in the truck when you just have to stop and fish. That what I do anyways.

11OCT2014 Cherokee Creek was good today, a bit windy as the day went on. Early morning poppers caught a few small ones in the coves, but the big ones are hang out at the bottom of the points. Used purple lizard and drug and bounced it off the bottom, caught quite a few more, biggest caught of the day is the attached picture. Finally got setting my drag down...lol.

10OCT2014 So hit up Keg Creek after dropping son off at school. Saw very little top water action, no hits on poppers or baby bass fluke. Went for dark worm, 3rd cast about 10 feet from shore, bam, fish on... As I was reeling in my new friend, I started thinking, I am so glad I was fishing with a heavier pole and line... wait did I reset the drag? Snap goes the line...nope guess not. Moved to the other side of the road. So there I was.. bluegills to the front of me, bluegills to the right and left, gotta be some bass around here. So I pull out my bluegill soft plastic and I go to work. Worked a fan area...walk down about 10 feet, repeat. Bluegills still just hanging around, looking at me looking at them. A few fish jumping every once in a while, tossed out fluke...nothing. Well it was a nice day out and I did at least have some excitement. Maybe next time.

Clarks Hill, Ga / Strom Thurmond, Sc Report
6OCT2014 Went to Keg Creek did some bank fishing. Hitting on top mid-day, not on anything I threw at them though (White Fluke, Spook, transparent popper). So I decided to go for the deep with a blue worm, 3 feet from shore got hit hard, thought I was hung up at first then the line started moving, I lifted up gently to set hook, but the line and pole I was using was all wrong, line snapped and I saw the big one swim away. Yes i cussed a little, but a little while later as I was running a shaky head with a white grub, I snagged my line that broke earlier. Found my worm and hook that the fish had earlier. Beautiful day out with a little bit of wind. Other anglers out there too, didn't see them catch anything either. Other baits used today: Watermelon lizard, Lipless silver/blue crank, and silver spoon. Lesson learned today: Don't fish for big fish on a light line and pole, and ease up on the drag setting if you do.

Clarks Hill, Ga / Strom Thurmond, Sc Report
Thought I would have a posting of my experiences on Clarks Hill/Strom Thurmond lake. Feel free to post your own report here, or keep it a secret...lol. 10/3/2014 Evening bite is excellent, top water bait in the shallows and a drop bait off the points. Buddy pulled in 2x 5+lbs, I was at work, about killed me not being out there. Attached are his fish, not mine. 10/4/2014 Morning slow action but were schooling well after the sun came up in the coves where the wind was blowing into. Top water rattles about 50yrds off of the shore caught some smalls. Watermelon lizard in the shallows caught some more smalls. Water is very low and clear, be cautious of just under the water between the islands, many trees and stumps.

Favorite Color Fluke? **updated**
The albino has been my only one thus far, I picked up some baby bass today, hope to give them a try this weekend. UPDATE 29SEP: Tried out the Baby Bass Sunday, had one strike on it, nothing else. Maybe the wrong day for it.

Co-Angler Étiquette (Myth)
I go with my neighbor/friend all the time, he has the bass boat, I help him with the boat park the truck walk/jog back to the dock, and load up the boat too. If we are using live bait that day I buy it, if he is filling up the boat I offer to pitch in, but he refuses money, but will allow me to buy bait. On the other hand I have the party boat, which I invite him and the family out on, which he in turn offers payment, which like he does, I refuse payment, but I am not stopping him from bringing food and drink. I guess the point I am getting at, there are things that we can do, or at least offer to do to help and I believe money between friends shouldn't be exchanged, but rather good deeds.

A Bad And Sad Example For His Son.
Sad that people can't fish on their own, but it does make me feel good when I can help others fish, and it makes me feel even better when I tell them too! lol "Hi how you doing? I see you needed some help fishing, glad you could find me on this big lake!" Try it out next time someone gets too close, you may have to yell really loud too!

I've About Had Enough!!!
When I have a bad day, I think back to a old motto: "A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work." When we go out to fish, we have to ask ourselfs why? Why am I up at 4 or 5 am when I could be sleeping? Because we love what we do! It's a passion that we all have come to endure. If you don't ever have a low, you will never have a high. Yes everyone has bad days, but boy... when that big one strikes... it was worth it! Remember what you are fishing for! Take care.
