  1. Where did BasshunterJGH go?
  2. Hey! Looking to get into lizards. I'd like to know: What would make you pick up a lizard rather than a worm? Do you fish them the same?
  3. Looks like you are off to a fun 2015! Enjoy fishing and check in here for info.
  4. Looking around before you cast.....
  5. I'd try a squarebill on those rocks.
  6. Perks of being 14! No taxes whatsoever.
  7. If you think they're so stupid, why do you use them?
  8. Move to NC from MN.
  9. Hmmm...I live right near Raleigh but haven't checked on that. Can't help ya.
  10. I like Abu Garcia rods, haven't tried all of them, but they are good. You can score a Vendetta or 1st Gen. Veritas for 50-60 bucks used or sometimes new on sale. I'd pair it up with a Lews Speed Spool.
  11. The X-Rap is a great bait and gets my vote. Most of the people on here, though, will tell you to by a Lucky Craft Pointer.
  12. Well, the spawn is something I haven't fished a lot. But I can share what I have learned from others. During the pre-spawn, the fish generally move from deeper water or cover. We don't know how they get the signal to do this, but they do, pretty much simultaneously when the water tempatures are high enough. They start cruising around, looking for food, and trying to get fat. Think of it as a spring party after a long winter. Catching them during this time is typically rewarding, as the big females are more easily caught during this time than any other. Good ways to fish the pre-spawn: Burn the banks with a fluke, large senko, and particularly the two most Productive pre-spawn lures/techniques: the Rat'lTrap (any lipless will do fine) and a spinnerbait. Fish the 'Trap with a stop-and-go technique, and fish the spinnerbait just below the surface, with the blades just hitting the top of the water. During the spawn, the fish are thinking of one thing: reproduction. The females will start rolling up against logs and stumps, the males will start building beds. After the fish have spawned, the females will lethargically move back into cover and deeper water, very tired. The males will start the long process of guarding the eggs, eventually the fry. Productive spawn lures/techniques: When the fish are on the beds, craws and lizards do very well, dragged or hopped on the beds. The fish see them as a little fish or a crawdad trying to interfere with the bed or stealing the eggs. It takes a lot of patience to catch them like this, as often they'll pick up the bait and move it off of the bed instead of sucking it in altogether. Also, a topwater lure can be very effective, particularly a prop bait, minnow bait, popper, or wake bait. (The Kelly Jordan Prop Bait by Lucky Craft is made specifically for this purpose). This can get fun! Have fun figuring out this time period. It's a very rewarding, yet challenging part of the fishing year.
  13. To me, the question is not even valid. Tools are tools. More expensive tools are still tools.
  14. I don't think you're carrying too much. I carry about that much. Little less, I guess. I have a big plano box w/ all my main baits/colors and backup bags.
  15. Just normal layers. Shirt x2, sweatshirt, hoodie, coat. Fingerless gloves. Nothing special.
  16. I like Aurora Blue a lot.
  17. I don't fish frogs very often, but I'm kinda torn on the question. For one, yes, a legged frog would look more realistic. But those skirts have got to have great action. All lot of people aren't even really trying to imitate a frog when they fish one, so I don't know how important a lifelike presentation is. Interesting topic.
  18. In your hand, the difference is astounding. The Carbonlites are sooo light, they make the Extreme's feel pounds heavier.
  19. I would get two 200 dollar rods.
  20. Why................................. Edit: Writer's block.
