  1. The morale of the story is you don't have to cut them at all. They walk just fine without doing anything to them.
  2. If you aren't missing fish, why change? I like to let them take it on semi slack line then set immediately. Reeling in the slack first though. So pretty much I just set the hook as quick as possible. Sometimes I'll make sure they have it first if I get tired of plastics getting ripped in half etc. But if I'm taking the day seriously, I'll set immediately.
  3. I don't think it would affect it TOO much if they weren't even, but you should cut them even. I don't think it would help. If anything it would screw up the walk a little. It would walk a smidge farther to one side than the other.
  4. Be careful not to cut the legs too short. I chopped a couple of inches off the legs on a spro frog once, and it messed up the walking action. It would bob up and down when it walked instead of having a good smooth walk that spit a little water. I guess the legs helped it sit a little flatter on the water. It sat more vertical with the legs cut too short. I fished it forever thinking it wouldn't matter. Didn't get bit like it should. Maybe it just messed up my confidence.
  5. I don't know about those frogs, but I usually cut about an inch off of spro frogs and kvd frogs. I also cut them at an angle where the outer legs are the longest. I don't think it helps the action too much, but it looks better to me.
  6. Yeah that's normal. There have been bass caught that look like straight up coy fish though.
  7. That will work fine. On tough days you are going to wish you also had a spinning setup to fish light line and small baits though.
  8. I'd upload your photo to photobucket then copy and paste the image URL from photobucket to your post. It will show the image really big on your post, and there isn't a size limit.
  9. I'll try and make the fish look as good as possible in the pic, but I'll also have another pic of the recorded weight or length and girth measurements.
  10. All braids will start losing their color pretty fast. Just take a sharpie to it if it bothers you. I just leave it as is. You can leave braid on your reel for a very long time.
  11. Bluegill and crawfish are the main forage? Bass probably spend a lot of time up on the banks suspending out toward deeper water during the heat of the day and probably won't stray too far from their chosen area. I'd be paying attention more to visible cover than structure. That's where the food is.
  12. Isn't that a scroll saw? The one I had given to me runs like it works, but when you go to cut something it won't cut???? Brand new blade too. I'll have to tinker with it a little.
  13. Sweet. I don't have a band saw, but I did just get a scroll saw given to me. Now if I can just get it to work haha.
  14. Yep. And whatever is trending in the rod building world slowly trickles down into the mainstream. Spiral wraps are even on some production rods now.
  15. I don't think it is due to braided line. Larger guides than you need are unnecessary. The trend has been using smaller sizes with all rods, or it should be.
  16. Haha you might be right.
  17. Missle baits d bomb. Sixth sense hardbaits. Cavitron buzzbaits Peeper custom baits boom boom jig.
  18. At least a MH. 50# braid is a good recommendation.
  19. Fish tight to whatever cover there is. Muddy water tends to make fish more predictable and less aware of your presence on the bank. They will hug to whatever cover is available or they'll hug for he bank. Jigs pitched to cover and chatterbaits or square bills everywhere else.
  20. I've never tried shooter on a reel, but I'd say it's better than most harder fluoros. You could definitely get away with it. You might even like it.
  21. Fluoros that are more wirey are harder, therefore more abrasion resistant. You kinda get two choices with fluoro, manageability or abrasion resistance. The harder less manageable fluoros aren't good as a mainline. They are harder to cast, easier to backlash etc. Softer fluoros are just the opposite but they aren't as tough.
  22. Or make the font much bigger for the senko and jig fishing threads.
  23. I for one am very thankful I have found fishing. I was quite a trouble maker until I was almost 20. I've always been into hobbies, but you can't find a hobby with a better crowd to influence you than fishing. Lots of good people in the fishing world.
