  1. I licensed and registered my Crawdad this week and today washed it and detailed it and installing trolling motor on bow. Bought a Minn Kota Endura 45lb trolling motor and their battery box. The new trolling motors are using a circuit breaker between battery and TM. Thought about putting it under one of the seat out of the way. Any suggestions?
  2. I bought a Crawdad about 25 years ago and fished small ponds and lakes with it with a trolling motor and carried it in the bed of a S-10 Chevy pick up. Eventually put a 5hp motor on it. Easy to handle and had a great time with it. Sold it after buying a bass boat but missed it for small ponds. This past fall I bought one that the owner had put a carpeted plywood floor in it and added about 30 lbs to the boats weight, now about 130 lbs. Added a 45lb trolling motor to it and will fish small ponds and lakes around home.
  3. Growing up my father always had beagles, we hunted and field trialed. We spent every weekend either hunting or trailing. At times we would have as much as 25 dogs( puppies and adults). As I reached my teenage years my interest turn to quail hunting and bird dogs. My father wasn't thrilled by my new interest but he let me own 1 English Pointer. I hunted both rabbit, quail, and squirrel. We banked fish ocassionaly when visiting the grandparents in the summer. After leaving home my passion for quail hunting grew and bass fishing. I'm now a senior and the thrill of being outdoors with my 2 pointers or bass fishing is still a flame in my life.
  4. Same problem in the bluegrass state of Kentucky. I read that 90% of our land is private owned, farmlands, industrial, and subdivisions. Pheasants aren't native to our lands and the fish & wildlife have no interest in doing anything about it as they do any small game specie. Their major interest is the big money makers of deer and elk. Our hunting preserves have pheasants, chukars and quail. Back in the 60's when we started having quail population problems the state started introducing Mexican quail hoping blend the native but with the same problems as everyone else, habitat and predators, it didn't work. Our local Quail Forever chapter helps support several wildlife management areas and quail is slowly coming back. Hopefully more WMA will have interest in doing the same.
  5. I own both revolver and automatic pistols and carry both concealed. I like my S&W model 13 the most, 357mag, 3" barrel, tuned trigger, bobbed hammer and ported by S&W performance center. Carry a couple of speed loaders. Also like Ruger LCR 357mag with LazerMax.
  6. I try to support the local tackle store but they have all but closed due to the large mega stores. Looks like the local bait shop only restocks live bait and flea market finds on a regular basis due to the big stores.
  7. Hello to all, new to site but not fishing. At retirement age my wife bought me a truck and bass boat. Been absent from fishing for over 25 years due to work. Had saved all my rods and reels, had to knock off dust and cobwebs and change all lines but lost most of my lures over the years due to moving. I'm a newly wed and my wife loves to fish and the outdoors. Working on her to hunt with me. Was shocked at prices of lures, tackle, boats and trucks but was able to buy a great used truck and boat. Hope to see you on the water.
