  1. Let the Bait Monkey do the thinking for you.
  2. If there is some cover around, I would bang around a squarebill crankbait looking for a reaction bite. That bait will clang off of rocks and wood and make a knock that the bass just can't ignore. Choose your colors based on the proffered forage species.
  3. Mine is a plastic stick worm, a shakey head craw combo, and a drop shot plastic. I like walking baits a lot too. Knot (invite you to groan here) a fan of jerkbaits.
  4. Snell knots. Causes the hook to flip out and stick the fish.
  5. Pretty much..... He is playing bad, but he really fumbled (pun intended), when he blamed his bad play on the rest of the team. There are some bad QB's in the NFL, but at least they take responsibility, not shift the blame.
  6. Shimano Bantum Magnumlite 30 years old
  7. Cherrywoods are nice rods. Never used an Abu reel before, but for 5 bucks I'm sure you can't go wrong. If it turns out you don't like it, sell it or give it to somebody. I would pick it up just to get the rod for $5.
  8. Ya, they are 40-55% off on TW. Berkley Trilene XL is a good fluoro. Berkley vanist is not 100% FC, as it is a part of their value series Berkley Solutions.
  9. Bandit Ledge Series 250 and the 300 series get the nod from me.
  10. When I was 6 a d used to go out in my uncle's bass boat when we would visit my Grandma in Tennessee. Spending that time w/the two biggest influences on my fishing (my dad and his brother) was the reason I got into fishing.
  11. Also, forgot to put one last thing.. If you miss a strike, quickly pitch a tube/stick worm or other soft plastic to the area of the strike, like w/any other topwater bait. They will eat it if you put it right in front of their face after they reveal themselves.
  12. Anytime! But I like to fish them at night because the strikes are viscous! I throw mine w/just a skirt, but a triler can be good for added bulk. I fish them w/a 6'6" medium rod and a 6.3:1 reel w/12#mono (my dedicated topwater/jerkbait setup) but you could vary well fish it on a spinnerbait set up as well. Crawl it just fast enough to keep it gurgling on the surface and let the fun begin!
  13. Nice fish! Sorry to hear you lost one on the buzzbait, but you'll get the hang of it eventually. Topwaters are extremely fun and exciting!
  14. This thread has so many responses in scared the bait monkey may very well take over the world.
  15. There is a thread below where a lot of guys say that they like PP. I bought some spiderwire because it was cheap at the time. Time will tell
  16. Hello! Also a Hoosier! You will find many of us around the forum!
  17. Not necessarily a buy.. But my buddy couldn't get the hang of using a casting reel, so he gave me a Lew's Speed Spool and a Veritas Rod. The Lew's now have me hooked, and I didn't like the foam grips on the rod, so I sold it for $50. Turned out pretty well I'd say. Also, my used Lew's have been good buys too.
  18. All of the Bass Pro Shops XPS lures at fairly good quality. On par w/much more expensive baits. Big Bite Baits soft Plastics are also a good value that perform very well.
  19. The bait monkey comes and night and logs into your online retail accounts. About a week later you unsuspectingly receive a nice box of tackle along w/the BILL
  20. It's about 2.35 in Indy if you use your Ricker's card to get the 7 cent discount. That's not too bad... But when I was born it was .89 a gallon!
  21. Medium weight jig on a 6'6" Medium Heavy casting outfit. Jigs at a mid range weight (3/8 oz or so) are really versatile. Put a rage craw trailer on the back, and clip the legs if the fish call for less action. That's what I would take if you could only have 1
  22. Lotta guys like fluoro for jerkbaits, but I like mono because of handling and stretch w/trebles. I see why in clear water some might want the non visibility factor of fluoro, but mono is not high vis by any means, and there is not need in my situation to get extra depth so I use mono. Generally I use Stren Original or Seagur Senshi is quality line also. As for #Test I use 12, but I've seen guys on FLW use as light as 8 for visibility reasons.
