  1. That's probably true... I guess Howell fished Rapala and Livingston at the classic, right! Haha
  2. It's Purina, so its probably cat food. The problem is brim will become trained to eat that stuff...m
  3. They aren't successful or they don't use one brand?
  4. The pros are! Actually l, it could be better that way, I just pick up stuff when i see a good deal, so I have different brands.
  5. At first, if I start to panic I start to cover new water w/a spinnerbait. Blade and color based on conditions and forage. Then from there I pick apart w/a light shakey head or T-Rig
  6. Big Bite makes good quality plastics at a solid price point.
  7. My guess is its like a puzzle. They are all pieces, but the puzzle isn't complete until you put them together.
  8. Some guys like to fish braid vs fluoro for situations w/smallies. I'm thinking about 20# Braid w/8# fluoro leader for an all around set up.. Would you do this, or just straight 8# fluoro?
  9. Sometimes the club will have boaters donate their time. The club pays for gas, launch fees, the likes. Sometimes guys in the club will have a boat, and as a lot of college tourneys involve partners, they'll have another guy to fish from the back. If you have a boat, use it. It's a huge advantage in that type of thing. Also, it depends on your club afiliation. They may be with FLW or BASS but not both. Usually they have a qualifier and the team who does the best gets to fish the big tourneys, or they have upperclassmen fish the big stuff.
  10. Anything with trebles. I would use the 7' as a cranker for sure. The 6'6" could be a topwater or jerkbait or lipless rod.
  11. Personal preference. But we all know mine.... LEW"S LEW"S LEW"S!!!!!
  12. I have a 4.9 and a 4.7. Tons of tourque. I love them for cranking or as big fish reels.
  13. Contact them. When you get there go to meetings, pay your dues, and fish the tourneys.
  14. There's a point where you begin to overwork your lure. Also, even with things like t rig that the action isn't effected by the speed, you will be a less thorough fisherman. Many of us need help slowing ourselves down.
  15. Nice fish! I once saw Randall Tharp kill em on a swim jig right after a cold front on Okeechobee like that.
  16. Ditto... Granted it could be a great reel for jigging spoons or something like that. It is a sexy frame though, as are all of the new Daiwas IMO
  17. Looks like I need to hit up some yard sales!
  18. What's the price of weights at Siebert? I may have to check them out....
  19. Some like fluoro some like braid. It's all a personal preference thing. I like to use braid, because my flipping setup does double duty as a frog setup. I would not use mono. As for # test, I would use 65# for braid and 20# or 25# for fluoro.
  20. They are probably sponsored. Most Pro Staff are guys trying to come up on the tournament circuit. But its more about the level of sponsorship than anything. There is a discounted product level, a free product level, and a free product and payment level. That is quoted from an FLW tour angler.
  21. Bought a new one! Picked up a speed spool for $40 and paired it w/a rod I picked up for $16.. So $56
  22. This is true. I think 9.1 ought to be tue top. I wont buy anything faster than 8 40"
