Drop Shot Knot
well, where i am, we have the northern lm species, and they are much smaller. besides, i LOVE the action. i was dropshotting with a size 2 for small mouth and a 3 inch power grub... i was really surprised that all that bit me was a tree!

baitcast questions
let your rod and reel do ALL the work while casting. that's what you spent the extra money for. it's like fly fishing. you don't wanna put barely any power into your cast. instead, concentrate on accuracy. you'll get near perfect casts EVERY TIME.... with a lil bit of practice.

Drop Shot Knot

Rods on an airplane. Please help!
thanks for the help. i was considering ups, but it'd be kind of hard to coordinate with where i'm going. besides, if i can get a free rod out of it more power! yay! lol. so, i was considering trying to find a rod that breaks down so that i can put it on my carry on (with my selection of baits_.

Rods on an airplane. Please help!
im going down to Texas in early August for a bass fishing trip, and my favorite rod is 7'6" and a one piece, so my girlfriend (while we're down there at the BPS store, which ive never been to one. STOKED!) is going to buy me a rod while i'm down there. i need one that can break down and go onto my carryon, because i will NOT trust the airlines with a rod. any suggestions? i really don't want to spend all the money for a rod holder for just one trip.

*HELP*Carrot stix
i dont know much about carrot stix, but you ALWAYS want MH/fast action rods for worms, so that a) you get a good feel and you have plenty of backbone to drive that hook. also, if you think about it, you're frequently trying to pull those big ol' lethargic bass out of deep cover, and you need some control. i lost the biggest bass of my life (deep cranking) cuz i had a ML rod and she hung herself up on a tree and used that leverage to get the hook out. she was about 10+ pounds. so ya, MH is what you want lol.

smallmouth rod
nice. thanks for all your help guys. i'm just glad that i've bought so many smaller lures for largemouth (in oregon, the lm don't get very big) so ya i'm excited. last night i found a smallie that was about 2 pounds in a pile of wood that kept hitting my crankbaits. lost 2 of them. i'm going back today to settle the score.

smallmouth rod
what are good rods for smallmouth? i mean, i know that UL rods are a HOOT, but i have a MH/F pfleuger that i bought for soft plastic fishing for largemouth, and i want to build some mojo on it! is that a good choice?
-
which of the cheap rods?
i like the pfleuger trion with a BPS balancer system. amazing.

Rod advice needed asap!
how about a pfleuger trion 7'0 mh/f with matching reel for smallies?

Want Sponsors?
im currently in college to become a police officer. 20 years old. i'm thinkin that i'll be an officer for about 10 years, gain some assets, (boat, nice truck, etc) and then compete in some tournaments. i was in the same boat as some of those 12 year olds. i think that they want to be like Mike Iaconelli and be a young gun, but there's a reason why there's mostly older guys sponsered - bait companies are GIVING you stuff for FREE... they want experience and someone who they can trust to push the product. However, being young, i can scream BOOYAH louder than anyone i know lol.

Largemouth Fisherman Turned Smally Fisherman - PLEASE HELP!!!
ill have to pick some of that color up on my next order from *** or BPS. my current fav for LMB is watermelon red flake. pretty much all of my plastics are that color lol. it's just hard to fish for LMB with soft plastics without knowing where the things are (no electronics.) in the past i've found it much easier to find them in a river much like you would trout. deep pool with rocks and a slow-medium current. i've done some homework lol.

Largemouth Fisherman Turned Smally Fisherman - PLEASE HELP!!!
great! thanks for the help. luckily, in oregon, we primarily have small largemouths. so it sounds like i'm pretty much set for smallies anyways. i was thinking drop shotting some baby flukes or carolina rigging some baby brush hawgs, super hawgs, or coffee tubes.

Largemouth Fisherman Turned Smally Fisherman - PLEASE HELP!!!
hi! i've been fishing for largemouth for years, but i just learned that smallmouth are the big game around my area. i caught a good 2 pounder on a crankbait last year and now i wanna catch some more! i have a whole bunch of 4 inch tube baits from strike king (the coffee things). are those too big? i also use baby brush hawgs and things of that sort of size for LM. are those a good size?

this big ol' piiiiig... could drive a man to DRINK! HELP!
she was coming pretty much all the way out of the SOLID mat of vegetation. you could even see the holes she came out of. and i know the whole "feel the weight" rule... my dad is from the south where he's caught some big ones on top waters. i'm already home now, so i guess she'll have to get bigger for next year, but i like the whole stick bait idea. and i had a couple hit a zara spook and miss... are these fish just retarded or what? it was in OPEN WATER!!!! lol.

Rapala's X-Rap
i have a few but i don't fish them often. they don't seem to dive as deep. although, i do like the action for steelhead. that's one of the first things i throw.

this big ol' piiiiig... could drive a man to DRINK! HELP!
ok, so i was out fishing one of my favorite lakes this morning. i heard some commotion in the lilypads so i threw on my panther martin superior frog and casted it out. for like 5 casts in a row, this big girl (i would say about 4 pounds or better) would emerge and grab at it and MISS! she didn't like to jump unless i retrieved it in a retrieve mimicking jumping. after awhile, she stopped jumping. i'm going back tomorrow cuz i will NOT LEAVE MY VACATION WITHOUT A PHOTO OF THAT FISH! any help on this would be greatly appreciated. am i doing something wrong?

swivel or no swivel?
X16. swivels are nice for people like my dad who can't see the line well enough to tie. but i don't know how many i've seen break while on the lure.

soft bait rod
the fish were toooooo smallllllll to hit it. the river i was fishing doesn't have many fish that can actually take a lure. they are mostly chub or bluegill with a few smaller smallmouth. i was really just trying it out to see how sensitive the rod was and how it casted, and it was great. there's no reason to redicule me because i can't afford a higher end rod. this rod did the job i needed - feel every bite. even in the dark, cuz i'm a line watcher, i knew that there were fish hitting it. we constantly have fish hitting our lures and nothing. my friend was getting the same on a rooster tail. besides, this is the 3rd ugly stik i own. i own 1 ul, one reg med action, and one lite med action. there are nothing wrong with these rods. >

soft bait rod
lol yeah, i don't have the extra money to go out and buy expensive poles. 40 bucks was about my limit. and like i said, it worked just fine when i was using it last night. besides, i'm more of a line watcher than a line feeler.

zoom brush hogs
lol read my first post. c-rigging is like all i do w/ soft plastics. i don't really like the t-rig... i dunno why. and i'll fish senkos weightless
