Tried to see where your located to determine size of fish and cover. If your pb is 3lbs and you live up north where the cover is lite you may want some liter line that will handle a little better. Fluorocarbon birds nest the easiest and if kinked will ruin that section of line. How are you using this 20.

There are low ballers and people who scalp baits buying them all out and doubling the price. There are good people to deal with and those that try and scam you. Carma has to be worth something and just be a good seller and ignore the roaches.

Which part? Pine 100% is amazing in 6 lb on a spinning reel and 10-15 are great on a bait caster. Handles just like sniper imo. Cxx is like weed Wacker cord one every reel I have used it on. Only on large baits like Huddleston 68 and larger baits is it worth messing with and still I prefer 20 lb yhb. Pine flouroclear sucks in 6 and 10 pound and after trying those I had enough and moved on.

I punch with the larger version. That's what caused me to try the smaller versions

There flouo is wonderful, flouroclear is possibly the worst line ever except Berkeley vanish. Cxx has some very strong memory and guys like it for swim baits in that size at and over 2 oz. It's not the easiest handling line for sure.

The water does not change like the weather. It's still going to be very cold in the water so using lures for those conditions will be key. If your shore fishing I would not use the blade bait I normally would recommend as they hang up a lot. That leaves a small jig think 1/4oz with appropriate trailer or I have had very good luck with Keitech swim baits at these tempratures. The owner 3/0 weighted hook and 4" swing pimact or easy shiner.

Matt Allen had a video this year where he talks about using heavier and faster rods as the season progresses. Early in the season he is using a moderate rod and lite line working the bait like a blade bait and at the end he is using a medium heavy or heavy fast on thick braid ripping it out of the weeds. It may not be a one rod show but I don't know how your fishing the bait and what type of weed cover progression you have up there.

Weight is critical on a jerkbait and I find that I do a lot of tuning. I use the owner snaps without swivels as they are very lite and after removing the split ring I end up a little liter. If the bait now rises after removing the split ring I just add it back to the front hook. The best movement comes from using a snap or tieing to the split ring. I don't know that I would call it natural. Some people like a loop knot but I change jerkbait's a lot looking for the best depth and action that will trigger the strike that day. Soft jerks I tie direct to the hook every time.

Your right I missed that. Just considering that I may need to go back to my roots and fish a very lite setup to start getting bites. My fear is all the rubbing on the bottom rubbing a soft line. I think I will try your system exactly and see if I can get some better results. Have some Berkeley xl mono in 6 lb or I would have to order new line. Would you use that.

As I continue to struggle with this technique do you use a liter line after the swivel or are you using the same as the main line. I have been using 12 lb copolymer on both main and leader.

Material is just one aspect of the rod. The resin, mandrel used and a ton of other factors are critical to making a quality rod. If your just looking for a quality build total rod weight is as good of an indicator. This is a more total rod approach and is not subjective, making direct comparisons much easier. It's a decent starting point before reading that specific rod reviews.

Has anyone ever fished the pond south of shelby farms next to the recycling center. Lots of open casting spots and signs that say fish at your own risk. Been twice this winter, no bites.

I like my older 7mhf with a full handle. The current lineup does nothing for me due to handles and reel seats. There are several blanKS that I am interested in but not the factory rod. The 72mm cranking rod is one.

Have you ever fished a reel that fast? Do you like fast. It will work but would not be my first choice. It's hard to tell what someone else will like. I find a 6 or 7 speed reel well suited to all around work.

I have to agree. The best blanks are for special applications and are just not needed in most cases. A good jig rod and a nice drops hot rod and the rest mid grade. Unless you win the lottery then spend it up

One of the most important factors is not discussed, and that is line choice. On a sb setup lines are large and that might not be an issue unless you plan on running a leader knot threw the guides. No knot a small guide train would be good. Double foot with an 8 Oz bait seems like the right plan.

That rod I would use from a boat for vertical fishing. Drop shot or blade baits maybe a spoon. Might be good in tight conditions, limited space but not my first choice for an all around rod.

This is the way I would go. The split handles that are on the new series don't do it for me and it hurts the ballance on top of that. Not a great direction to go for them imo but that's what the industry wants now.

I like the handle design and trimmed reEl seat on the dobyns rods. The action is a little more moderate than I like and the reason most people that like them fish braid imo. The avid is where it all started for me with Croix and I am still a fan of that line. The handles on the ltb series do nothing for me at all so it's the avid or elite for me. I fish there avid 74hf for frogs heavy swim jigs and swim baits up to 2 Oz and it's one heck of a rod. The casting models I like the regular series and spinning I like the avidx. Seems great to have two options on the same group of rods. I got my son the 68mxf spinning rod for Christmas and I use it a lot myself.

I can appreciate the minimalist approach, and trying to get there but failing miserably. From shore or in a yak staying small is the way to go. Not enough soft plastic there like bring on the classic worm
