Might like the daiwa cv-z. They have a ize reel that is boss and an ITO if pink is your thing. I like the green and gold cv-z.

If I was you I would be looking for the old zillion costal. The htsa and htsl right or left says salt water ready. I have two but do not use them in salt. Of you like round reels the daiwa millionaire bay area blue reel is sweet.

I like propaste for the epoxy work i have to do. It was a little rod building but mostly for repair. I havent done a bunch but none of the things i have done have failed or needed any additional attention. I have not used any of there other products so i will not speak to those.

The boiling water trick works. Gene talks about fixing flukes this same way. Dont know that storing them over the winter would be any worse than any other time. The hot summer can get them hot enough to deform so if you have tweaked plastics that would be when i would think it would happen

I had some water in a few ponds while in CT that looked like coffee. Is this what were talking about here. The same green pumpkin jigs and worms worked and the natural shad colors with white and silver were also good. For some reason i figured that gold bladed spinner baits would rule here but the silver still worked better. I feel like total visibility is the big part and guys liked black worms there a lot.

I run the 2000 size daiwa. Great for 6lb flouro but smaller might not be so good. IF you going braid then go as small as you want. I agree though that i think it helps a lot.

Float and fly

I use enough to lightly coat but not enough to squish out the sides. If your just doing it for the first time put some on, put on the side plate turn the shafts a dozen or so times and take it back appart and inspect. If a bunch has squished out to the side you have used to much. Contamination of the drag stack is possible and not desired at all. Application with a clean brush works well for me to prevent overdoing it.

I have yet to catch a blade bait fish. I slow roll 4 inch swim baits and do as good as anyone else. Jerkbaits might give you a change up beside the vertical fishing.

At 200 your right on my go to rod the st croix avid. The avidx is also nice. The action on dobyns rods are slower than I like and my dx743 makes a good crankbait rod. The dobyns handles are very nice looking but there is a lot more fill than I care for. On the avid and up I don't have any fill in the cork. I also like the palm bulge on the handle. The reel seat is also a favorite on the avid. The only thing I am not all about is it has a for grip which the dobyns does not. The sc3 and above blanks have plenty of feel, I seem to feel them bite.

For the baits your considering I would be looking at the medium. Fast is the best all round speed and I like xfast for single hook baits like flukes worms and jigs.

I fish the 610mxf little quick for jb imo. Like a regular fast or mf for that.

This is a section of tips listed on a guys page that i have not considered doing. I fish a lot of swim baits and have never done any of these things. Considering the costs of these baits i am reconsidering trying some if not all of these things. I do use mendit and if your not doing that i have no idea how you can afford to fish... Swimbait Maintenance Have you ever wondered how guys are getting 15-20 or more fish per soft swimbait when yours are getting torn up after only a few fish? There are a few tips that every swimbait thrower should do to get the most out oh their baits. The first thing I do when I get a new bait is to glue all the potential weak spots. Anything that protrudes out of the plastic should be reinforced with super glue. I will gently pull back the plastic away from the hook until there is a small hole just big enough to put a drop of glue into it. I will do this where the hook eye comes out of the bait and any other metal eyes that are used to add hooks. If you have problems with getting the glue all over your baits just put a drop on some cardboard and dip a tooth pick into the glue, then apply the glue with the tooth pick. It is also important to inspect your bait after every fish. Check for tears and make the necessary repairs with Mend-it before you make another cast. This will keep them from tearing any further.Now that you have your bait reinforced and you are ready to fish it you will need to apply some lube to the bait. Most scents that will stay on the bait for a long time will make a good lube. I prefer Pro Cure and Mega-strike because they have the consistency of Vaseline. Most guys know how important it is to lube your Swimbaits because it increases your odds of hooking the fish when you get bit. The lube will also help your bait resist tears. Even if you don’t think scents and attractants will get you more bites you should still apply a generous amount of lube to your Swimbaits. If for nothing else it will prolong their life.Another common problem with soft Swimbaits is they tend to get warped or twisted when they are not stored properly. It is usually very easy and quick to straighten them out. Soft plastic will return to its original shape if you put it in boiling water. It is not a good idea to submerge the glue on eyes in the boiling water because they could become clouded or fall off, but the rest of the bait will be fine. Dip the body of the bait in the water for about *** minutes and then suspend it in cold water until the bait is completely cooled. This should bring it back to its original shape. Now maybe you will get more fish per bait.

The idea of using fishermen in the fight against invasive species is a huge part of the plan. People who go fishing a lot make contact with the water way more than any state could afford to keep employees out there. We are the eyes and ears of the DNR and provide a huge sample rate on health of fisheries. Some of us do damage but more clean and protect the environment we choose to spend our leisure time in. I have no problem killing an invasive species, and i release everything i catch due to respect for my creators creatures. I do my best to be a steward of the lakes and streams i fish and the environment as a hole. Im not nuts and i dont bang on doors and protest but i do try and do my part for conservation. Some states like Florida have huge problems with invasives and i would kill them in a heart beat to protect the natives...

Ill give that a try as i am afraid to get hung up and loose that bait. There by no means cheap and my first megabass jerkbait. I have a pop max that i love but i may stick with duo and lucky craft.

I have a mix but i am trending toward only st croix. My steez flexlight will always stay as i have yet to find a better lighter small crankbait rod but everything else is croix.

They are natural in north america and should be left as they were found. Snake heads are invasive and in some states are required by law to be killed.

Until you get a backlash on a 3/4 to one ounce crank and watch it sail of into the sunset. I had a breakoff with 20lb suffix performance braid on a one ounce spook and just watch it fly away....

Your mode of fishing will have as much as anything to do with your setup choices. Have a big boat with lots of room, or are you shore bound with lots of trees in the way. Guy one will use long rods and cover tons of water and guy two will try and make exacting casts to hard to hit targets. Yet a third guy is fishing from a yak which is what i do and tend to lean tward rods right about 7 feet for a good ballance. I tend to like faster rods because i fish a lot of copoly, and a good hookset is needed as soon as you start cranking the yak is moving. The platform you fish from will be a large factor on the setups you choose, and what works best. Frog fishing from a yak is a blast but i would not say its easy by any means. Try hitting a big bass with a 7'3" to 8 foot heavy rod in a yak and see what that does to your stability and movement. There are no one right or wrong way to do anything in fishing and two people standing right next to each other will like a diffrent setup for the same exact presentation.

Maker means nothing. my all stock trick darter sinks a lot faster than i would like, and i dont think a hook swap is going to get it done....My lucky craft baits are good so far, but i feel expensive just gives you a better chance at getting a good bait...
